Results of our little work community build
diymirage replied to cazxr2's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
though to say which one i like the best the white lancer gets points for all the custom work done to it the green lancer gets points for being done in 2/3s of the time allowed for the other two the impreza gets points for finish, i think i like the paint job on that one the best and those tribal decals look just killer you guys should consider joining one of the boards comunity builds (or starting a new one for that matter) looks like all three of you got some nice potential -
looks like your off to a good start a word of advise though, before you glue that front axle into place do a good mockup of the chassis i have the same kit i am working on (think its under my bench) and it has a terrible rake to it so since you still have time you might want to consider raising the chassis on the front axle

diymirage replied to Mr. Moparman's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
you can always try to get a hold of chucky he has a 426 DOHC in the works hows that for a street hemi -
remember to keep it as big as possible id say 2 by 2 by 2 feet at least you want to be able to take pictures where you can see a little past the car to give it the ilusion of being real ( i have a drag strip diorama that i build to small and i can only take pics from one angle)
-
ill awnser for him, the tribals are a desing he send me that i made into a decal for him they then flew halfway across the world to make it onto that WRX if you are interested shoot me a PM and well talk about making some for you

thanks the charger is OOB i build for my son, he has a shelf in his room that is the exact same apple green as the car is the grand prix i build to try out my decal skills on its a nascar kit converted into a lowrider
-
when i build mine i used an old sign for walls and the floor the sign itself is made out of foam and is about an inch thick when i got it it had a paper sticker on it and when i pulled that off it gave a nice concrete look my main advise is make it as big as possible that way you can take pictures from many angles drop in some old parts for good measure and paint is your friend heres a shot of mine

if you just want a straight forward racing stripe i would suggest hand painting it there are some great masking tapes out there but i think one of the best would be the tamiya brand (available at most hobby shop)
-
i have a maisto RC challenger that i am converting into a 70 suber bee (basically just swap a MPC bee body onto the maisto chassis)
-
i like it specially for a first model it looks good (i wont mention how cool those decals are)
-
looks cool your gonna have to scratchbuild some pretty sturdy gas shocks to keep those doors open, wouldnt want one of them to land on your head
-
not sure on the price but the wifey included a battery holder that fits 2 AA batteries i hooked 2 LEDS paralel up to each battery tried it in series first but that dimmed them too much there is no on/off switch but its a simple matter of pushing the wires into the slots
-
thanks guys and gall this is something i would have up in my living room if i wasnt married michelle, there is a hobby shop in grand rapids called ryders (think there are 2 more locations actually), she bought them there, a 10 pack runs 14,95 these are the lights i was telling you about for your eclipse too now watch it lay in my model garage for 3 years, waiting for me to put it up
-
thanks guys

i know its been done to death but i've always been a fan of body parts on the wall (car body parts mind you) fenders, hoods, you name it here is a little something i made to put on the wall of my scale garage that i use as a back drop for my pictures it came from a jo-han kit (i think) the LEDs are 1.5 volt units the wifey bought me once for a different model project once i find the correct spot on the wall i will drill a hole to hide the wires

hey guys with the boy turning 6 months old last saterday my modeling time has severly decreased over the last 6 months so i thought i would try my hand at a snap kit that i bought assembled from a fellow member it started of as a 96 dodge ram 2500 dually i lowered the front suspension (gotta love metal axles) added a set of custom wheels chopped the heart out of the rear wheels and glued them into a a 3/4 inch long section of 5/8th ID tube and slapped on some mickey thompson sportsman tires i then scratch build a toolbox (not sure on the finish, it looks a little too new) and slapped a coat of true blue pearl on it i added some glitter nailpolish through the airbrush and topped everything off with 3 coats of clear since this is a snap kit it has no engine to give the look of one i added a shaker scoop from a 71 cuda to the hood all thats left now is finding a good ramp (the one in the pictures is from a semi trailer) hinging the gate to swing horizontal and finish up the bike itself this is how i got the truck and this is where she is at now

there is a member on here who build a picuk truck selling ice he had a tarp just like it only more faded in the bed to keep the ice from running out it looks great, but i think the colour looks to new you leave a tarp out in the sun for a year or so and it will fade so....how'd ya do it ?

-
shouldnt be log because i actually put in the memo line what i want it for and where i got the idea from i mean, if they are going to spend money to send me a free sample its only fair they know what i am doing with it
-
i read on here a while ago about something called "embossing" powder from what i understand it works the same way flocking does but is a lot easier to paint and holds its fuzzy after painting i never tried it myself but it sure sounds good
-
no joke, i just ordered my sample and it is coming from MO, almost 400 miles from me in MI those flares looks great by the way nice job
-

Does this kit come with a separate engine?
diymirage replied to glenn's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Shoot me a PM I have an 4G63 engine from a fast and furious eclipse laying around...almost certain it is complete. You would just have to repaint it to match your project Let me know what you have to trade for it
