  1. The problem, as I see it, is a lot of folks equate one's modeling skills to one's wallet-opening skills.
  2. The original issue of this kit (same paint scheme and all) was Revell H-1455 from 1975. There's one sitting about 2 feet from where I'm typing this, it belongs to a co-worker who is a total McEwen nut. I should have just asked him from the start, but this is the first time we've worked together in a while.
  3. You can soak parts in Tamiya Lacquer Thinner or Gunze Mr Color Thinner, but not regular lacquer thinners.
  4. Model cars are the only thing I spend my money on...
  5. I'd jack the front up too, gasser style!!! I'd call it the Pink Nitemare - which is what The Old Man called Ralphie's bunny suit in A Christmas Story
  6. But where does a name on a model car board fit into all that? Just because it's the internet does that make it different? Is the internet that scary of a place? We give our names to strangers in the real world all the time and never think twice about it. Just an hour ago I ordered a pizza over the phone, I gave the girl my address, phone #, debit card # and exp. date(never gave my name - turns out they don't even need it) That's what I mean, if using a real name on a message board is that big of a deal, then those folks should never get a bank account, buy a house, get a credit card, buy a car, get utilities, rent an apartment, etc... If they're gonna get you, they're gonna get you. Don't live in fear.
  7. According to Travelers Insurance only 14% of identity fraud is a result of online activity or data breaches. 78% comes from simple theft of personal property (wallet, purse, checkbook, etc...) As I've said before, if you're too afraid to use your real name on a model message board, you probably shouldn't leave your house. Ever.
  8. Are you trying to post pics? Open the Photobucket album - mouse over the photo, a drop down box will appear - like this - Go down to IMG Code, single click it, it'll turn blue, then just copy and paste into the post here. All there is to it. There are other ways, but that's the simplest.
  9. Seeing how a lot of the real cars were typically built on ex-Willys gasser chassis, I'd use the Revell new-tool SWC/Mazmanian Willys as a donor, then just add whatever year Vette body you'd like.
  10. They're sorta like Alclad in a can, at least that's what I think they were aiming for, but not worth it when you can get Spaz-Stix for similar price. I did a couple of spoons with them straight out of the can, wasn't that impressed. More like polished effect than mirror chrome. Decanting may help, but I haven't tried it. Might give the gold a try when I get around to doing my Munster Koach and Drag-U-La.
  11. You might be better off looking at Corvette restorations, as they're easier to work on with the body off the frame. This site might help get you started - http://www.corvette-restoration.com/restoration/corvette_restoration_updates_engine_transmission.htm
  12. The chassis/motor is the same as the Jungle Jim Vega, et al. The tires are new tooling - one-piece and hollow, both front and rear. I don't know enough about the originals to know if they did a 75 Duster body, I don't remember one, but that doesn't mean they didn't do one. It's not based on the Mongoose F/C that became the "Cop Out"(that was a Monogram kit, anyway.)
  13. That's looking great, the detail in that kit is awesome, I just wish it had a little more wrap-under in the rocker panels, but that's the result of the die-cast origins of the tooling. This is the first time I've seen this kit actually being built.
  14. A "nom de plume"? I can see that. But if I create some new technique, or build a really great model, I'd want to get credit for it as who I am, not "chunkylover53@aol.com" - not my e-mail BTW I've participated in anonymous forums and I've seen people post some of the most abusive, rascist, bigoted nonsense when they don't have to stand behind a name. I won't particpate in a forum unless it requires real names.
  15. I've seen it in the flesh, didn't like the look of it. Appreciate the help. I do like their injector stacks.
  16. Been looking around, so far the one that catches my eye is this one from Speed City Resins - What else is out there? Doesn't matter if it's for 392 or 426 HEMIs, I can go either way with the motor.
  17. I think the last issue of the AMT kit as a convertible was the Sonny and Cher His 'n' Her Mustang (George Barris)
  18. To: Rick and Mike - thanks for posting that link, I'd missed that. Cranky's the best!
  19. Never tried it in scale, but it's super easy in 1:1 world. Problem is the smaller droplets don't have as much 3-D effect. I'd use one of my other airbrushes to spray the water, or, if you only have one AB, something fine like a perfume or cologne mister. You need to stay way back off the surface, or the airstream will move the droplets. Here's a how-to video if people want to watch how it's done - it's the actual painting of that bottom panel
  20. August's kits are hitting RPP retailers now, non-RPP's should be getting them in about two weeks. August 1:24 Kurtis Kraft Racer (SSP) 1:25 Corvette ZR-1 1:25 Dodge Hemi Dart 1:25 '48 Ford Woody 1:25 Mongoose Funny Car 1:25 Ed Roth Beatnik Bandit I peeked inside the Mongoose Duster, new one piece tires look nice.
  21. I think I have some on my home computer, I'll check tonight.
  22. When I think of "custom guages(sic) to fit under the dash of your car" I, and I'm guessing most everyone else who's reading this, think of something like this: Sorry, but I'm just not seeing it in what you've got there.
