Took the plunge and cut the stock grille out to see what it would look like with the tooth grille.

Been thinking about paint again on this project. Any thoughts, just a pearl white panel or the whole roof from beltline up pearl white?
-
Got the stock rear seat bottom cut out and the tuck n roll rear seat in place. Took a little to much out on the wheel wells. Need to add some back I think.

Got the resin tuck n roll passenger side door panel modiied from a 57 Bel Air to match the shape for the 56 Nomad. Didn't really realize how different they are. The dash location, shape is different, the door tops are different, even the height of the panels are slightly different. I sanded the rounded door tops smooth and rescribed the tuck n roll up to the top of the panel then cut the panel tops of kit panel and sanded down top of resin panel to get the height that I needed, wasn't much. Glued the kit door panel top on resin panel. Then held up the kit panel and marked for the dash cut out and glued that onto the resin panel. Had to shorten the panel in the kick panel (front) area as well. Here is a picture of the modified and "stock" '57 door panels

I gota Tuck n Roll Interior packa from Ed Fluck for a 57 Chevy and will modify it to fit Nomad. This resin kit is very nice. Looks amazing. Very clean. 57 Bel Air Tuck n Roll door panel to a stock 56 Nomad panel comparsion. I think I might have found a custom grille to use as well. I found an older 57 Chevy Bel Air kit as Slusher suggested that had a few custom grilles in it. Found a tooth grille that looks similar to the grille posted earlier in "Miss Taboo". Stock grille with custom tooth grille below Overlay of tooth grille

Got my donor and have had a chance to look at it to see how things will work. With a little work in the body due to thickness of resin the windows from AMT 57 Chrysler will work. After this past weekend, my office where the resin body was got hot and humid, 90 degree weather, and the body wasn't sitting flat on my table, it warped all to heck. Had me worried but, sink full of hot tap water and a short bath in it, it's back in shape. So I am in the works of working and trying to get the chassis, floor pan fitted to try and keep this from happening again.

Which AMT 57 Chevy kit? Do you have pics of what they look like?
-
Looks great. You did a great job. Thanks for sharing. I built one the other year and had to paint all the colors on it. Did you or were you able to get the Slixx decals?

No matter what I do with the grille, I willcut out the stock one. With the Desoto grille, I just placed over top of the stock to try and get an idea what it would look like. I did have an "In your Face" look about it that way but just didn't want to cut stock up yet. I did find this picture of Ron Luchs "Miss Taboo" that was restored in 2011 i believe. It had a 54 Chevy grille and 57 Chrysler headlights. Here's a link with more info on "Miss Taboo" http://www.kustomrama.com/index.php?title=Ron_Luchs'_1956_Chevrolet

Small update. Got a coat of white primer on body after a good sanding. Possible tire and wheel choice. Chrome steel and white walls from AMT 62 Catalina Color choice on chassis. Tamiya Light Metallic Blue. Love the blue will look great with pearl white panel in place of rear side windows. Shaved the bumpers and got a coat of primer on them. Thinking about lake pipes as well, not sure though. Still trying to come up with a possible custom grille though.

I am waiting for my donor kit. Will let everyone know as soon as I know. I am hoping that it does.

No scripts on body Just the little emblem on the front fender on the trim that seperates the colors. It does have the hood emblem as well.

I like that too Steve but I also likethis one. And this one. And then there is always this scheme. So many choices for a beautiful car.

Just got this in the mail from JImmy Flintstone. A resin 1957 Desoto that uses the AMT 1957 Chrysler 300 as a donor. A little rough around the edges but the body itself is pretty great. Time to soak and then clean it up for primer. Onto to researching for colors.

Messing around with the interior and this is what I came up with. Not sure I like it but, you don't really see alot of it once its built and on the shelf. I used Testors Interior Blue/Green and Randome Tan and Tamiya Semi-Gloss clear to enen out the sheen. I don't have the body at hand right now (it's at home and I'm at work) but, here is a hood from a 56 Ford F-100 that is the same Tropical Turquiose color that the Hudson was painted.

Has anybody built any of these yet? Just got on late last week and was looking for ideas. Found reference photo of engine but it was all Black, is that correct?
-
Sharp looking build. That is one car that has been on my radar for a while to build. Thanks for sharing.

Just got mine in the mail today. Another Home Run from Moebius in my opinion. One thing to Moebius, could you possibly package the decals in the bottom of the box? Upon opening the box, you have the body, rear slicks, instructions then the decals on top of the rest of the parts trees. Mine have a little pucker in them from a tree pushing agaisnt the back of them. Oh and no body warpage again for me! That makes for 4 - 65 Plymouths with no warp bodies.

Thanks guys fir your thoughts and comments. Still trying to figure out what I want to do for the interior colors. IN the mean time, I have started to foil the trim. Spent about 1 1/2 hours last night on it while watching SpinOut with Elvis. Got one side just about completed.

Here ianother one that I got painted between the rain falling this week. It's the Moebius 1954 Hudson Hornet Club Coupe. This is the thrid good around at trying to paint this one. First I had it a Dark Metallic Red with a Black roof but that just wasn't doing it for me. So I stripped it and went another direction. Testors Tropical Turquoise and Tamita Racing White. I'm digging this more. Just do not know what to do for interior though. I am looking at the dash possibly being Model Master Interior Metallic Blue but then I don't know what to do for the rest of it. Want to try and stay stock looking with it. Here's the colors together.
