A short cancer update if you're interested...
LoneWolf15 replied to Terry Sumner's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Yep , it's going to change your life style a bit , no doubt ! Nothing you can't handle , ya geriatric old goat ! The alternative is not acceptable , as long as you're on this side of the dirt , sucking air , and annoying the hell outta me , I'm a happy boy ! As for the Depends , I thought all you flatfoots wore them anyways , what's the difference ? Lmao ! Pm me your address , please ! -
Would you pay for a premium membership
LoneWolf15 replied to martinfan5's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
I don't ! You two would end up with either dehydration from all the slobbering or your pace makers would start running backwards ! Lmao ! -
Excellent kit to build and lends itself out for great kitbash material . Back at ya , Cruz Man ! Thank y'all for the compliments , they are greatly appreciated !
-
Just can't get over the hump and stay nice , can ya ? I'll pass on the cheese , Stump Chaser ! Lol !
-
Jason and Niko .... You two have come light years in a very short period of time with your building skills and are to be commended for your talent and skills . Yes , I have been watching ! Lol ! When I wrote this , it was more to chastise the older members of the forum for their comments and behavior towards the younger members at that time , rather than a criticism of the younger generation who chose not to participate in the hobby . Both of you , if you continue to build , are going to be forces to be reckoned with on the show tables for many years to come ! I encourage you to continue to push the proverbial envelope with your skill development and broadening it's range . Keep up the great work ! Donn Yost Lone Wolf Custom Painting

Revell ' 41 Willys gasser kit !

The show that Rich was referring to uses what they refer to as an NNL " style " judging . Both the contestants and the general public vote on the models in each category . The Buckeye Classic is voted on by the contestants only , neither the club members nor the general public is involved in the judging process . Both shows are showing a steady growth pattern , so this seems to be working for them . Although neither is a perfect system , the usual problems that crop up are kept to a minimum !
-
Uhuh ! Always the " old guys " paying attention ! If not for the entourage , he would not have taken home half the hardware that he did . Someone found a way to circumvent NNL style judging ! It wasn't the first time , sadly , it won't be the last !

Rob, Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder ..... What transfers from the head , to the hands , and then to the workbench , doesn't always translate well on the show table . Building for yourself and building for the show table are two totally different animals ! Yes , the same basic skill set is involved , however , colors , finish , use of aftermarket products , and overall build conception all come into play when building a show winner . Zen is right , the flat black killed the car as a show piece ! Where you see beauty , A judge sees a lack of effort ..... Color and shine are always going to rule the day ! The most exquisite build with the wrong color on it or a mediocre paint job is going to be passed over time and time again . Jimbo Walsh and I went round and round over this subject , years ago . To prove my point , I built two ' 64 Belvedere pro street cars that were identical , the exceptions being the paint color and the wheels . One was done in a wild custom mix of orange I named after his dad , the other was painted a dark metallic grey . In every show that they were placed in , the orange build won an award , the grey build won nothing ..... Ever ! Identical in detail , finish , stance , etc , the grey never stood a chance because it lacked the " wow" factor when it came to the color . Build whatever and however it makes you happy , just be aware that it just might not make it a show winner in anybody else's book but your own . But .... That book is the most important one !

Rattle Cans - who still uses them?
LoneWolf15 replied to tiking's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Three models .... To be exact ! You can have a Paache H series kit delivered to your door for $ 63.00. ! -
Never saw a family work harder then this one ! They provided great products , service , and were an asset to the hobby . Very sorry to hear of this . I wish you all the best , my friend !
-
Heeeey ! I thought I gave them a pretty good shot at redemption , Chuck ! Lol ! Their bottled enamel is still an excellent product as are the metallizers . The spray enamel nozzles need an overhaul , post haste ! I have never used the laquer line , others sing in praise of it , gotta go with the majority here ! As to image ? That too needs an overhaul .... Don't hold your breath , they have one modeler on staff , he paints figures ! It's the Ivory Tower Syndrome , my friend ! Bean Counters Are Us !

We're Back! How much modeling did you get done?
LoneWolf15 replied to Danno's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Sorry ! Didn't even know we were off the air ! Lol ! Did manage to get a decent amount of work done on the SBC for my ' 50 Olds build . And ......spent time glaring at the pile of bodies sitting on the commissioned paint table .... I swear they're multiplying amongst themselves every time I turn my head ! This one man band stuff gets old sometimes , Mother Nature isn't helping with the heat and humidity either ! -
Brett , I hope so , I've seen them do foolish things before , but ! ...... With over thirty plus years into model railroading , the aforementioned brands were the predominate paints used by myself and countless others . I sure hope they will still offer the paints , regardless of the packaging ! They were an integral part of that particular hobby . This day and age , when the bean counters start stirring the pot with their grubby hands , little , if any good , comes of it !
-
I have no idea what the sales figures would be like on the Floquil paint line . I do know that it is very popular with the model railroaders . Those that didn't use the Floquil , used the Polly S line of paints . I preferred the Floquil and use it even now ! I'm thinking this is a colossal blunder on their part ..... Then again , I only know paint , but nothing about counting beans !

I listen to a wide variety of music , Kathie says that she can tell the mood that I'm in by what's playing on the shop stereo on any given day ! I can't relate to a lot of the latest music being offered , I'm in agreement with the lack of talent being displayed these days . I have always loved the story tell writers , one if the finest around is Edwin McCain . Not a whole lot of top 40 air time but that boy can play , sing , and write with few peers ! Love Nora Jones , John Mayer , and Little Big Town ! I find myself leaning more towards country more and more , Zac Brown Band being the latest flavor . And yes , all the aforementioned classic bands mentioned , plus the Eagles , 38 Special , Skynard , Segar , Molly Hatchet , Blackfoot , etc ! I view music as I do model cars , one song , one vintage kit , can bring back memories of better times gone by , long ago and far away .

2012 POST APOCALYPSE/ZOMBIE HUNTER COMMUNITY BUILD
LoneWolf15 replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in Community Builds
Holy stereotype , Austin ! Lmao ! Rob , I get it ! I really like the build , you've put a lot of thought and effort into it ! However , if the zombies come a chomppin' , don't come a knock in' ! Lmao ! -
2012 POST APOCALYPSE/ZOMBIE HUNTER COMMUNITY BUILD
LoneWolf15 replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in Community Builds
Now I realize that this is still a work in progress . I really like what you have so far , my question is how do you plan on protecting the cockpit and it's driver ? Seeing you getting your ear chewed on by a zombie would certainly put a dent in our day ! Lmao ! Great work , looking forward to the finished product ! -
Coming out of the gate , you have put more Time and effort into the dash alone then others put into their entire build ! What the camera see's ? The naked eye very rarely does , if ever ! This is your first build , learn from your mistakes , don't obsess , and move on to the next one . The second will be better , as will the third , fourth and so on . Always remember , there will never be the perfect model ! However , before it is all done , I believe that you will be coming very close on a regular basis .

You can borrow my new pressure washer .... Lol !

Check with your local Michaels store , they carry it in various sizes and a multitude of colors .
