  1. Hooray!I hope to see it soon.
  2. A local hobby shop here had a Prius kit on clearance and I believe that they still have it.It's whistle-stop.com in St.Clair Shores,Michigan and I'm pretty sure that they ship kits.
  3. I've had this happen a couple of times to some Testor paint cans. When the lacquer resin leaks out like this it's time to toss it.Seems to be only the lacquer filled cans.
  4. I could see the front bumper being usable with AMT valance panel but the rear bumper-no way.
  5. Looks like a very nicely done build. You wouldn't have known this but Michigan license plates for 1959 were green(kinda like John Deere green) with yellow letters and numbers.
  6. I was surprised at the dimensional differences between the parts in the Revell and AMT kits.I wanted to use some AMT pieces to customize the Revell body(dual headlamp housings, front roll pan/grille housing, tail lamp bezels) but with size and shape differences I'd be looking at something of a putty blob as a finished product.Even the stock bumpers are very different in size.
  7. There are things at Michaels and Hobby Lobby that aren't kits or model supplies? Why else would anyone go there?
  8. I thought of something else that should qualify as "fun in a car". One day, when my daughter was very young we were in the car and she asked me how a traffic light worked.Seizing the opportunity for some humor I told her that Traffic Light Munchkins lived in the lights.I said that they would count off X number of cars and then flip a switch to change the lights.Little did I know that she believed me and it wasn't until a few years later when she was in grade school that her classmates told her the truth.I believe she was profoundly embarrassed.
  9. A few times come to mind: 1)Being a total novice and bracket racing my '79 Malibu (305-4v,factory 4 speed) at Lapeer Dragway and making it all the way to the final round before nerves got to me and I redlighted. 2)Getting a ride around Michigan Speedway in a PPG Pace Car Corvette and seeing 165 m.p.h. at the start/finish line. 3)As a 7 year old boy in 1961 getting to sit in the Buick Wildcat II show car at the dealership where my Dad was service manager. 4)Being season class champion twice in my local autocross series. 5) Being fastest in class at the local CCM July 4th time trials at Waterford Hills race course with my '84 Z-28(and in other years beating guys times in their own cars) 6) Anytime driving my '27 Chevy woody before it was wrecked in a road accident. 7) Winning a TSD rally put on by the sports car club I'm in with a friend in his Baja style Beetle. There's a long story about that win.
  10. The maroon A on Deuce rails says "Hot Rod" to me.I'm waiting for the new '29 kit to build a model much like the picture.I'm hoping the kit tires are like the ones on the car in the picture.
  11. Seems like a good way to use up the contents of the spare parts box.
  12. Last night I compared the Satellite to a Polar Lights Coronet(same basic real cars). The bodies in general are close enough to each other so I'd say they're good. What I did notice was the difference in roof shape between the two kits. The windshield angles are different, the vent window framings are different thickness, and the roofs are noticeably different shapes. Is one more correct than the other?Beats me.
  13. I noticed on the instruction sheet was that when the color reference explanation was done for the interior the wording was taken directly from the '53 Hudson kit!
  14. Went back to one of the local Michaels,no luck on a Dart kit.But I did score a Revell '67 Chevelle Pro Street kit for $6.99 whose SKU came up as the '77 Trans Am kit that was on clearance(the Chevelle wasn't supposed to be a clearance item).
  15. What I noticed before the size if the axle was how short in height the body side seems.I'm gonna break out a Polar Lights Coronet and make a comparison.I realize that both models may not be to exact scale but I want to see how similar they are to each other.
  16. I bought the Moebius '65 Satellite, some paint for the interior of the '53 Hudson I'm trying to finish, and I scored a deal at Michaels where I got a mismarked Revell '67 Chevelle Pro Street kit for $6.99-the SKU said it was the "77 Trans Am kit.OOPS!
  17. Recently I scored the Revell '57 Bel Air,'63 Chevy California Wheels edition, and a Monogram'70 Challenger on clearance there.Even though I have those kits already,at that price I wasn't going to pass on them. Now I'll have to back and see if the Darts are at that cheap clearance price here.
  18. Maybe instead of skill level there should be "re-engineering needed" level or "test of patience" level.
  19. Time to break out the sprue and putty if you think the surfaces may be visible.
  20. Some of Revell Germany's kits are labeled as Skill Level 5.Seems to based on parts quantity.
  21. Back in the mid 70s there was a made for TV movie starring Barbara Feldon and Barbara Eden. They played friends who switched lives for a time.Barbara Eden drove an E Type Jaguar,Barbara Feldon drove a Country Squire of similar vintage to this one.Upon switching cars the first thing Barbara Eden said when driving the Ford was "It's like driving the Queen Mary".
  22. My '71 Formula 455 H.O. was a similar green to your model.Always liked that color.................
  23. Do you mean an M8B Can-Am car?The M7A was a Formula 1 car and was originally kitted by Heller the re-released by Union.Accurate Miniatures never did an F1 car.
  24. While I'd welcome a Kaiser of any sort(except a Darrin) I know it wouldn't be a popular subject. But I had a friend back in high school who was big into them(and Marlins too!),even owning one that had been Suede-texed,so I got to know a bit about them.I even helped him retrieve an extremely rare '55 Manhattan.I got to sit in the rotten thing while he towed it up I-75 behind one of his Marlins. That had to be a sight for the rest of traffic!
  25. I hope they do go back to the polished bodies.
