  1. Using Art's stick to stir the pot I'll include any Ferrari kit with an engine, and any Jaguar kit with the straight six.
  2. As presented this car is more like a seven years early version of a Formula A car.
  3. I believe that his stuff was all slush cast.Pressure casting has made that form pretty much obsolete for doing anything more than a single part for personal use.
  4. 1075 GT now resides at the Henry Ford Museum at Greenfield Village.I'll be at the Motor Muster at the Village on Sunday and if the weather is lousy I'll head over to the Museum for a visit and scope 1075 out some more.
  5. That maroon coupe is cool.To me that's the definition of "hot rod". The new Model A kit from Revell can't come soon enough.I want to start building models like that coupe.
  6. Going from memory as I'm at work-The Trumpeter Nova has the Chevy 194 straight six engine. There's an MPC Jeep CJ and a Jeepster with the Buick v-6.The AMT Fast and Furious series Toyota and Mitsubishi have turbo engines but unless you want to do some involved alterations I wouldn't recommend them(the Mitsubishi is so inaccurate that the kit should be built as a curbside). The AMT '60 Chevy pickup has a nice straight six. There's a couple of versions of Tamiya's Skyline GTR that have a full engine, also one of their Toyota Soarer kits has a full engine.However-If you look at the box art you'll see what detail was left off, mainly in the fuel system plumbing. The Toyota Dome 84C has a full 2.2 liter Toyota 4 cylinder engine but it also lacks much detail. Some of Fujimi's Nissan 240Z kits come with a full engine(I've got one of the 240ZG kits with a full engine but the hood's molded closed!).Tamiya's Jaguar sedan has a full 3.8 liter straight six engine as does the Aurora/Revell E-Type kit.The Jo-Han '61 Rambler has a straight six(good luck in scoring that one). The Jo-Han Maverick has a straight six in it(I believe that it's been also done in resin).Going way back the Revell Model A kits have a four cylinder engine along with some speed equipment. The AMT Model T kits have their 4 cylinder flatheads.Honda and Acura,Mitsubishi, and Ford 4 cylinders are in the Revell tuner series kits.
  7. Sometimes Japanese driver names don't come across too well.
  8. Defacto hoarder/styrene junkie here.I call myself a builder but I'm too slow to be very productive. That's why I'm at 1300 kits and counting. But they're my life insurance policy-I plan to live to be 400 and build them all.So far,so good.
  9. Add the S-10/Sonoma pickups and the Blazer/Jimmy SUVs circa 1995 along with the full sized 1988 to 1993 Chevy and mid 90s Ford Ranger and F-150 pickups. Toss in the 1993-up Camaro and Firebird and Mustang too.
  10. In this area Comcast only offers Fox1 so it's not much coverage for me.I could always watch my tape of all 24 hours of the 1997 race that the late, great SPEED televised.
  11. I bought a Tamiya Mercedes 300 SL gullwing,an EBBRO Tyrell 002,and two cans of Tamiya TS-92 orange metallic paint.
  12. I consider myself lucky. In my area(metro Detroit),besides the Big Two,there are two shops within 15 minutes or less driving time, one about 30 minutes away and two more about 50 minutes away.
  13. There's a Nissan van from the late 80s or early 90s that was recalled for unexplained and unfixable fires. All were scrapped. And I think there are no more Reeves OctoAutos.
  14. I think some of the details are a little off but I like the basic idea.
  15. If you can get access to a frame rack would it be worth it to pull the structure?
  16. Through work I've been able to obtain some boxes that fit most of my built ups quite well. They even come with some bubble pack! They're a bit too small for a Top FueIer or a large 50s or 60s car but work great for most other models.I store my builds in them and just put those boxes into a larger carrying box,the size of which depends on how many entries I take to the contest.
  17. Hmmm-interesting that they're a full frame meant for unit bodied cars. Kevin-bring some to the Downriver meeting on June 19th.
  18. If you ever do another version there's a diecast '28 Chevy out there you can use for the body.
  19. I believe that the Hemisfear was supposed to have been built in a limited run.Or did I only imagine that I read that?
  20. I remember GM sending those cars out to rental fleets and having them do the "final quality analysis" ahead of general public sale. That was when they learned about the doors falling off and other problems. This wasn't one of GM's finest eras of vehicle development or quality control.
  21. Nice job,Jesse. I used to think(back 50 years ago when I built the original multi version Monogram kit)that the body looked good. Now I see how much the proportions were "massaged".
  22. I can't see Revell doing ANOTHER stock bodied Foosed '65 Chevy.I could see them doing the '56 F-100 as one of the four mildly revised existing kits.Just don't tease buyers with Foose's drawings for the box art like the current lot of the Foosed cars that look nothing like the finished models.
  23. This weekend I got a $10 Heller Fiat 131 rally car kit,an AMT '98 Firebird for $3,and a Garlits Wynnscharger that didn't have a warped frame.
