  1. And people wonder why I'm watching MeTV more and more.... Charlie Larkin
  2. Not the same link, exactly, but the same car. https://autos.yahoo.com/news/steve-mcqueen-ferrari-poised-break-records-monterey-auction-180015385.html;_ylt=AwrBEiE.MbRTCzYA1LU2m4lQ Charlie Larkin
  3. Well done. I've been told that truck is still sitting...wherever that was. Charlie Larkin
  4. Looks good. Charlie Larkin
  5. I was thinking the same thing. If I wanted to spend stupid money on a Ferrari, I'd much rather have this one. https://autos.yahoo.com/photos/steve-mcqueen-s-1967-ferrari-275-gtb-4-by-scaglietti-1404315284-slideshow/ Charlie Larkin
  6. Very nice, Dan. Both of them. Charlie Larkin
  7. Friend of ours had one of those Celicas. Involved in a big recall in the U.S. because of oiling problems, and it resulted in a class-action suit against Toyota involving a lot of cars. Always thought it was one of their better styling jobs, especially considering now most of their cars combine the worst aspects of bland and ugly. Charlie Larkin
  8. Hmmm....a blower-equipped car. That'll be fun to sneak up on all sorts of stuff with. Nice model, too. Charlie Larkin
  9. Very nice work on this. Charlie Larkin
  10. When I worked at a hardware store, we used to sell Iron-Out, and that works well on all sorts of stuff. Charlie Larkin
  11. The more I see, the more I really wonder if I should simply remain a bachelor. That said, I don't know what's worse....a shrew of a wife or listening to my mother complain that I don't have a wife of any kind.... Charlie Larkin
  12. Schneider adopted a new scheme, Matt? Last I remember, their trucks were a kind of bright orange like Roadway. Nice looking rig, though. What is it? Charlie Larkin
  13. Looks good, Brad. That scenery is really shaping up nicely. Charlie Larkin
  14. I've never used the stuff personally, but I know a few people who will be quite happy to see this. Charlie Larkin
  15. I got a new starter bolt. The old one apparently work-hardened, became brittle and broke off flush with the mounting boss. Took my poor, harried mechanic over 4 hours to get that bugger out. Tomorrow is a new alternator for my mother's car. Yay. Charlie Larkin
  16. Lookin' good, Dan! Charlie Larkin
  17. Looking real good, Steve. Charlie Larkin
  18. Ever have a day where all your to-do list laughed at you, and then life kicked more sand in your face? 1. All the parts I went after at one of the local yards wouldn't fit my car. 2. The ones that would wouldn't disassemble. 3. I saw so many older, clean low-mileage cars in that yard for no apparent reason, and it made me think just how stupid and wasteful we've become. Cars that could've been sold to people who can't afford newer used cars or given to organizations like Good New Garage, which repair used cars and donate them to the poor or sell them for cost of repair. 4. I stopped at Wendy's down the road to hit the head, grab a cold drink, and continue over to the hardware store to get an offset screwdriver, and then one of the bolts on my starter let go, breaking off and leaving me stranded. Making life even more fun, my mother's car is getting a loose wire fixed, and my dad's car is basically junk. Yeah, today laughed at me. Like a Jay Leno stand-up performance. Charlie Larkin
  19. Really? I didn't know that. Cool. I'll pass that along to Dad. Charlie Larkin
  20. A built/restoreable AMT '64 Wildcat convertible. It looked like it was going to go for a very reasonable price, then it went into orbit. Charlie Larkin
  21. I got a mild case of sunburn, left the junkyard empty-handed after all the parts I was after fought me and won, and then one of the bolts that holds the starter onto the engine snapped, stranding me and resulting in a $103 tow. Over the weekend, though, I did get the new interior bucket for Kitty I, so it hasn't been ALL bad. Charlie Larkin
  22. So I found this really neat model on eBay. Nobody seemed too interested in it, and I put in a somewhat high bid. I figured that from the looks of the bidding, I was probably going to win and get a pretty good deal on it, too. I was at a friend's house earlier, and I went to check in on the auction, maybe five minutes after it ended. I lost- by ONE dollar. That hurt a little. But what really ticked me off is that eBay apparently no longer sends out the "You've been outbid" messages. Now, granted, I probably wouldn't have been able to work around it (and it got to a price point where, to me anyway, it was no longer worth it,) but it would've been nice to have received that anyway. I also never got an initial bid confirmation. I suspect someone used one of those "snipe" programs, which, in my opinion, ought to be banned, as to me, they're somewhat dishonest, and have a bad habit of distorting the prices. Oh well....there's an unbuilt example of the same- just trying to figure out if I want to spend the money or not. Charlie Larkin
  23. About the only thing I'd do is paint the gas tank steel. Other than that- very nice job, Dan. Charlie Larkin
  24. Lookin' good, Mike. I have to admit that polished-out plastic looks pretty good. Charlie Larkin
  25. Along with the '62 Chrysler Newport convertible. I'd buy at least one or two of those. Nice job, Al, and I like the skirts- I think they look good on it. Charlie Larkin
