  1. Very nice work, Chuck. Driving one of those with that announciator on the hood, however, would drive me nuts. Charlie Larkin
  2. Very nice work. Charlie Larkin
  3. I'm well-aware of the cost, Dan. MassCar has done a make-and-take at our show for a long time, and we're coming up on re-stocking, so these might be a good way to go about it. The Squires are looking forward to doing this, and we're looking forward to the event. I'm planning on doing an article for MCM, partialy to showcase MassCar's outreach to the youth, and partially to help promote Squires and DeMolay. Charlie Larkin
  4. I think that says it all. Charlie Larkin
  5. Cool. I might order one of those next time I have a little money. Charlie Larkin
  6. Mileage aside, that tank would do very nicely for my dad's commute to work. Nice job, great imagination. Charlie Larkin
  7. From what I remember seeing, it was a matter of fitting and trial-and-error. Alternately, you might want to consider the AMT 1966 Olds 4-4-2s, as well or one of the Lindberg 1966-67 A-bodes (4-4-2 or Chevelle.) Just remember to install the Pontiac engine/transmission and make sure the rear axles are the same, as each division also had its own rear axles, although sometimes, the carriers (differential) were shared on similar cars. 8. Awesome. In October, MassCar will be hosting a building event with Greater Boston Manor of Squires of the Round Table, which is like Cub Scouts for DeMolay. This is ages 9-12. We have big hopes for this, the kids are interested, as is MassCar and the advisors. Wonder if we could get a few of those 'Stangs? Charlie Larkin
  9. Country Squires look good in dark colors. I think this will be no exception. Charlie Larkin
  10. I remember reading the Hubleys are 1/24, instead of 1/25, which will account for the slight difference. Interesting project. Charlie Larkin
  11. Red works. Charlie Larkin
  12. Kitty I's interior proved just about unsalvage-able, so I got this. http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-AMT-1964-BUICK-WILDCAT-USED-INTERIOR-TUB-COMPLETE-/360962829536?_trkparms=gh1g%3DI360962829536.N19.S2.M-1173.R1.TR1&_trksid=p2047675.l2557&nma=true&si=ZXfo2SaztSASP0Ow10EI04%252BHjrM%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc Wondering who Kitty I is? Meet the Kitties if you haven't yet. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=79888&hl= Charlie Larkin
  13. Not impressed. Another bland, characterless modern lump, using only that which is borrowed and showing little to no originality. I'll take an E-type, not a half-hearted tribute. Pass. Charlie Larkin
  14. Looks great, Tom. Charlie Larkin
  15. Looking good, Dan. Charlie Larkin
  16. The laughing gas and knock-out stuff makes you see/think all sorts of weird things.... I have tried to buy the picks/scribers from my dentist, though. No luck. Charlie Larkin
  17. I tend to agree. I wouldn't be surprised if such a thing were to come down the pike. If not, we know this is a decent kit and worth the time to build. I'll probably do a dark blue one. For some reasons, VWs look good in dark blue to me. Charlie Larkin
  18. Don't give them any more ideas.... I think Revell should recall their snap kits for the plastic used in them, but that aside, they're actually very nice kits. Charlie Larkin
  19. E98?? They're making that now? Or is that the unblended base chemical? Charlie Larkin
  20. Nice job on the dash trim. Charlie Larkin
  21. Very nice, Rick. Charlie Larkin
  22. Nice to see you back, Curt, and what a nice build. Charlie Larkin
  23. I'll be the first to admit, I'm not wild at all about the paint and huge wheels. But stylistically, it's a success. It's actually rather too bad Chrysler didn't t do exactly that, and call the 4-door Monaco or Polara. Charlie Larkin
  24. Yeah, that does look pretty good, Steve. I like what I'm seeing here. Charlie Larkin
  25. I know of a few people who have taken the body/interior and trim from the MPC kit and stuck it on the chassis and running gear of the Revell kit. Looks pretty good. Three words of caution: 1. It's my understanding that most of the recent reissues of the '67 actually has the 1970 seats in it, which are quite different. Several resin-casting operations, including The Modelhaus have the correct seats at reasonable prices- about $3. 2. The '66 Rally I wheels are wrong for a '67. You could use the Hurst mags in the '66, though, or possibly adapt the MPC wheels. 3. The Tri-Power was last used in '66. While I wouldn't be shocked if a few '67s had that installed at the dealer, you might want to adapt the single 4-BBL '67 intake/carb/air-cleaner onto the otherwise very nice Revell engine. But yes, the MPC kit can be built with patience and care. Think of it this way- your skills aren't there- YET. As I always used to tell my students when I taught, just because you can't do something now doesn't mean you can't learn to to do it now. This hobby is about the learning experience as much as it is anything else. That said, if you want to tackle another kit of two until you're more comfortable with this, go for it. Charlie Larkin
