  1. Definitely some nice work there. Those kids have something they can be proud of. Charlie Larkin
  2. A flat tire in the middle of nowhere just after midnight, and then the jack broke. Call AAA The spare tire I had was too worn for the driver's liking, so I got towed to my friend's house (where I'm typing this now) and I'll have tato change it in the morning and limp it home. Making matters better- I'll need two new fronts (which I knew) in addition to inner/outer tie-rod ends on the passenger side and an alignment. Yay. Charlie Larkin
  3. Those look great, Bill This really is one of the better ideas of class-time use I've seen in sometime. It teaches patience, directions, pride in your work, craftsmanship and the importance of doing a job right. Charlie
  4. Some very nice work from those youngsters. Yeah....I need to find a way to upset an apple-cart somewhere.... Charlie Larkin
  5. I like the idea of the printed dash. I'd suggest printing the dash at home on gloss photo paper, and then, using an acid-free glue, gluing the print-out to a thin piece of plastic for strength. The dash carrier is the same, which helps. The real challenge, at least to me, is the very unique door panels. They look nothing like a Monte, Regal or Cutlass. It can be done with sheet plastic, but it will be labor intensive. The seats will require a little ingenuity, but again, can be done without trying too hard. See if Ron Lambert can snap a few pictures of the doors on his car and e-Mail them to you for a refresher/reference. I can get you two in contact with each other if needed. Charlie Larkin
  6. Sometimes, I wonder if perhaps I should've taught grammar school instead of high school. I can get away with stuff like this and not get too many strange looks. Well, no more than I usually got from other teachers. What a GREAT idea! I can hear the idiots at the Mass. Dept. of Ed. howling now at the thought of this, along with most administrators and a huge number of parents. All the more reason to do it! Charlie Larkin
  7. From what I remember in "The Other Mag" when AMT and Revell issued these at almost exactly the same time.... The Revell Body is much better. Engines are about the same, although the AMT has a little better detailing. The AMT chassis is better overall, although both look good together. Revell's interior builds up easier, but the quality of detail is about the same. The author stated he would use the Revell body over the AMT chassis/running gear and the Revelle wheels on better than the original Michelin tires. I believe he stated he would blend elements of the two interiors for best results. Charlie Larkin
  8. Looks great! Charlie Larkin
  9. They DO exist! Well....they've been rumored to. Charlie Larkin
  10. The interior looks good, Mike. This will be a nice model when it's all done. Charlie Larkin
  11. I went to Michael's to get some India ink for some weathering on a model railroad structure and found the AMT "Showroom Replica" 2011 Camaro flip-top on clearance for $8.99, and the Monogram '71 GTX on clearance for $9.99, plus I had a 15% coupon that included sale items. Charlie Larkin
  12. Scale Motorsports has some upholstery pattern decals that'll get you in the ballpark. Also, you could try a technical/liquid or gel pen and a small square/rectangle template. Charlie Larkin
  13. No kidding. I'm no prude- not by a long-shot, but I really don't find most modern "comedy" funny and none of my friends can really understand why. Simple- it's crude, relies too much on gimmickry, and isn't all that intelligent. Hogan's Heroes, MASH, Bosom Buddies (which I grew up watching,) and shows like that- are funny. On the subject of 1980s-early 90s comedy, Hub Network runs all kinds of good stuff, too, like Family Ties and Step by Step- the programs I liked when I was in roughly 3rd grade to high school and beyond. Comedy that was funny and I can watch with my friend's 10-year-old and not turn red-faced with awkward questions. Charlie Larkin
  14. Correct. The sad thing was that at his death in 1982, Jack Webb was actually getting ready to do a new 1980s Dragnet with Kent McCord (of Adam-12.) I think that would've been a great show. I remember the very short-lived one-hour Dragnet in the late 1990s or about 2000 with Ed O'Neill. It was good, but not the same. I would've liked to have seen them try to make their stories work in the same 30-minute show. That, I think, aside from solid writing and acting, is what made Dragnet work well. Charlie Larkin
  15. I'll see your habob and raise you a hurricane! Tomorrow is going to be all kinds of wet and soggy. To celebrate the fourth, through the end of July, the Boston Pops has posted their July 4th cocnert- held on the 3rd to get around the bad weather, online. Download if you want and enjoy. 2-1/2 hours of great music. http://bostonpopsjuly4th.org/ Happy Fourth to all, and remember all those who have served our nation in any capacity- armed services, government employees, public safety. Yes, even elected officials. The ones that do their jobs properly deserve our thanks. Charlie Larkin
  16. What a great idea, Tom. I'm sure it's a nice gesture appreciated by all. If there's still one available, count me in, and I'll have it on in '15. Charlie Larkin
  17. Nice shot, Peter. Very pretty scenery, too. Charlie Larkin
  18. Your affiliate is running The FBI? That was supposed to be a pretty decent show. I watch Adam-12, Emergency!, Dragnet, Perry Mason, Mod Squad, the Sunday cop shows, and the occasional comedy. Charlie Larkin
  19. Ray Parson died about a year ago, and from what I can gather, there has been no recent production. However, all is not lost. Star Models, which can be contracted via www.resinrealm.net is R&R's major dealer, and Steve will sell you one if he has it. Charlie Larkin
  20. Nice work, Bob! If you can spare the time, run that WIP down to a MassCar meeting, I think it would generate quite a bit of interest. If nothing else, do bring it to the show in March. I think it'll be well-received. I always liked the GP and Cutlass the best of the G-Body coupes. What will the colors be? Charlie Larkin
  21. We'll have another nice model on display at MassCar next year. Absolutely exquisite, Charlie. As is all your work. Charlie Larkin
  22. You could also try some 70% deantured alcohol. It won't damage the paint or anything else and kill anything. Add a drop or two of vanilla extract, and it'll kill the odor, too. Charlie Larkin
  23. I'm surprised- Florida seems like a natural market for MeTV, RTV, Cozi, and a the other retro-channels. Charlie Larkin
  24. Check to see if you can get Cozi, Ray. They have similar programming. I like them, too. Might be worth considering, worst comes to worst, to go hit a yard sale, grab a used TV set, and hook up an antenna with a converter box. Charlie Larkin
  25. I sort of know what an Italian beef sandwich is. Another Chicago thing I need to try next time I'm out there. Green lizard hyping dog?? More importantly....do I want to know? Charlie Larkin
