  1. Very nice truck. I liked the color selection and A-B-A two-tones that GM was offering on the 1988-about 1991 trucks. Charlie Larkin
  2. I've seen a few of them. I think they're a really neat-looking truck. If I ever hit the lottery, I would seriously consider buying one for a conversion to a large camper. Charlie Larkin
  3. Side-subject to power: I'm guessing a battery-powered dio is okay? The really nice barn-scene diorama with the opening doors and the Cord was at LIARS and NNL-East, and that had a battery-operated motor, as I recall. Lighting, etc. is now a snap with LEDs. One or two 9V batteries or a couple of D-cells will do the job very nicely for the duration of the event. Charlie Larkin
  4. Very nice, Mike. That'll look quite sharp when done. And I've been putting off building mine for the same reason....that masking is a chore and a half! Charlie Larkin
  5. For the brass, after stripping the chrome, apply white primer, followed by airbrushing Testors brass on the parts. I believe Krylon Short-Cuts also has a brass-colored paint in a spray can. To be safe, put a coat of Glosscote over it, as it's a somewhat sensitive paint color to touch. Charlie Larkin
  6. Most interesting, and it looks like a good bit of it is going to end up about eight miles from my house at the Collings museum. Very cool place if you ever have a chance to go visit. Charlie Larkin
  7. The wrecker boom is actually rather graceful. Looks like a half-ton? Charlie Larkin
  8. Although I've never used Tamiya primer (I almost always use Plasti-Kote,) after wet-sanding the primer, and allowing the water to dry thoroughly, I can start painting- usually about two-three hours. I have heard similar with Tamiya primer, if they wet-sand. If not, paint usually gets applied within an hour or so, and they sand everything Charlie Larkin
  9. Just for curiosity, the US/Canadian/down-under Chevies are pretty much the same car, correct? Charlie Larkin
  10. I see. Looks like a good hot-dog. Wonder if they'd be interested in a New England licensee/franchise? Charlie Larkin
  11. You're being very polite about it. One of my friends, through the wonders of the Internet, met a girl that lives on Long Island, and where he doesn't drive, I drive him down every so often. Having been caught in that giant cluster at exactly the wrong time, "parking lot" would mean it would actually move every so often. Now that she might be moving here (fingers crossed,) I won't miss that drive. I'll gladly continue to do it for the LIARS show, and probably to go visit some stuff down there (like TR's house,) but...yeah, all set with that traffic. Charlie Larkin
  12. Ummm....what is neon relish? I just noticed that. I can hear Harry cringing now. I like piccalilli on my hot-dogs. New Englnad thing. Charlie Larkin
  13. Speak for yourself. I love Hawaiian pizza. Charlie Larkin
  14. I need one of those. Al- is that a slot-car track it's sitting on? Nice job on that. Charlie Larkin
  15. Very nice, Sean. Charlie Larkin
  16. Very clean build, nice color scheme. Charlie Larkin
  17. Nice job, Tom. I'd agree with the call for jewelery wire, or possibly something from the model railroading aisle. Charlie Larkin
  18. That looks great. And the thoughtfulness will have untold positive effects. Charlie Larkin
  19. Cool, Tom. With several possible jobs coming on the horizon, a Chevette's starting to look real good for some of the commuting I'll be doing if...oh, all but two or three of them come through. The others I'll be close enough to drive the Roadmaster and not care all that much. Charlie Larkin
  20. I love going to LIARS, and I don't mind driving my friend down to see his honey-bunch in Selden, but stuff like this is one more reason I have zero interest in moving to Long Island. Charlie Larkin
  21. Trust me, that's the cool kind of getting old! I speak as a long-ago freshman and still-occasional teacher. Getting old? Come talk to me in another twenty-five years, Scooter. Charlie Larkin
  22. Ouch. Absolutely tragic. Charlie Larkin
  23. I don't think that's even legal. I'd call the Comptroller of the Currency- whether it's a state or federally-chartered bank, the C.C. has say in how they handle money. And I agree with Nick- find a bank that isn't acting illegally or simply stupid. Charlie Larkin
