  1. I'm surprised nobody's done this in resin yet. Nice work on the body. Charlie Larkin
  2. I like those hide-away headlights. Where did you find that grille? If you didn't, how did you make it? Charlie Larkin
  3. I've never had any luck with brake fluid myself. I've found I like either oven cleaner, Whestley's Bleche-Wite whitewall cleaner or Super Clean/Purple Power. Just be sure to use gloves especially with the Super Clean or oven cleaner. The Bleche-Wite is a bit weaker, and does take a day or two to work, but is fairly effective. I've also read here that that Dawn Power Dissolver for dishes is very good for paint removal. Perhaps you can try some of that. Charlie Larkin
  4. I remember seeing some at Scale Equipment, Ltd. Charlie Larkin
  5. Very nice, Bernard! Charlie Larkin
  6. Ooooooohhhhhhh.....nice work! Soon as I have the money, I'm ordering one. Wouldn't the chassis from a '68-'72 A-body be better as they were essentially the same frame/floorboards? Either way, really nice job. I hope it sells well. Charlie Larkin
  7. That Mica Red is a really good match for the tri-coat metallic red Cadillac offers. Nice work, Mike. Those brakes and the interior are looking good, too. Charlie Larkin
  8. There are always exceptions, Harry. To my eye, anyway, a lot of German cars have been, while not offensive, are, at least to me, cars that won't win beauty prizes. That new Audi, though...wow. Charlie Larkin
  9. That's exactly what I needed to know, Matthew. I just primed everything, and I'll do some of the assembly prior to shooting the color coat. My instructions are the same, but I always get a little concerned when I see parts being assembled like that, after the paint should probably be applied. Right now, I'm leaning towards doing a solid gray with a red and white interior. From what I've been able to gather from a few Chevy truck restoration suppliers, red with white bolsters was a available, and I think it'd look nice like that, brighten up the whole truck a little. Charlie Larkin
  10. Either one looks good, but I prefer the rallye wheels. I think they're more in-keeping with a Jeep. Charlie Larkin
  11. Very nice work, nice color scheme and execution. Charlie Larkin
  12. Nice job, Chuck. I'm guessing the color is more brown? At least on my computer it's kind of orange. Charlie Larkin
  13. Four metres= almost exactly 13 feet by U.S. measure, not sure if Imperial is different or not, but it isn't that much more or less, and it's still very, very big! Nice work on that, I've played with 1-1/4" scale live steam before, and they are truly impressive. Charlie Larkin
  14. Isn't someone making the non-louvered taillights in resin? That seems to me to the be the worst of it. The rest can be acheived with Evergreen and some photo-etch for the Scripts. Charlie Larkin
  15. That came out nicely, David. The overall feel is just right. Personally, I wouldn't monkey with it much more. Charlie Larkin
  16. Derrick, to straighten out a chassis plate for future reference, hold it over some simmering water. The heat will help soften the plastic and you can hand-straighten it. Once straightened, place it on a flat surface like a counter and put a few small weights on it to help hold it in place until it cools and re-shapes itself. Just be careful not to make the water too hot. You can melt the part, or possibly get a nasty steam burn. Charlie Larkin
  17. I want to see more of the new Focus before pronouncing judgement, but I don't like the front- too much grille for a little car like that. I do, however, hope they'll bring the wagon back here. One of the Ford dealers here thinks it's a good possibility. When did the Germans learn how to design such beautiful cars? That new Audi is gorgeous. I liked the Range Rover Evoque (or however they spelled it- why can't they just spell normally,) It's nicely proportioned and looks good. I'm not sure about the Porsche, but I like the color. Charlie Larkin
  18. WOW! That's 1/72 scale? In almost any scale, it would still be an amazing piece of work, but in that size, it's mind-blowing. Take the time to go through the Photobucket gallery. It's well worth it. Charlie Larkin
  19. That fire looks great, Ron! The whole diorama is fantastic. What figures are you using? Charlie Larkin
  20. I just got my e-Mail newsletter from Model Roundup. The Cadillac, from the way it was worded to me, anyway, is coming with the same blank black rubber grommets that they're putting in other cars- not those nice wide-whitewalls! Looks like another $8 to the Modelhaus to purchase the re-pops unless you want to paint them on or try Shabo or Scale Equipment dry transfers. Hobbico needs to be compelled to sell Revellogram. I'll start buying lottery tickets for large jackpots immediately.... Charlie Larkin
  21. I had wondered about the bench seat. Does anyone make a bucket/console for a more commonly-correct R/T? Perhaps I'll just build mine as a Charger 500. What are the differences? A Charger S.E. would be cool, too. That's what I probably would've ordered. Charlie Larkin
  22. I'm building one of these for the pickup build and have a question I'd like to ask before going too much farther. The rear of the cab is molded separately from the rest of the cab, as is the firewall and core support. Generally, I know that the firewall is left out before painting, which I have no problem with, but I'm wondering if, contrary to the instructions, I should put the back of the cab in before painting. The box is also molded in several parts, and I'm wondering about that as well. Has anyone built one of these and have you found that doing pre-assembly like this causes problems down the road? My thought is to assemble the hood (which is in two pieces,) the back of the cab into the cab, and the rear panels of the bed-sides into the bed. The hood has the two "eyebrows" that are separate plated pieces; I'm wondering if I can assemble the hood prior to their installation or not. Thoughts on these matters appreciated Charlie Larkin
  23. I do painting both on the sprue and on toothpicks for small parts. I also tend to glue up sub-assemblies, like engines, that are all, or largely one color, and paint them. This is a nice kit, and you'll enjoy building it. Charlie Larkin
  24. Great idea, Bobby. Hopefully this year, I'll actually be able to do it. Now....which one do I want to do? Charlie Larkin
