  1. Thank you for posting.
  2. This is looking good Jim. The toned down rust looks better. On the Astro van, Chevy was repainting trucks from that era fro having paint adhesion problems. I bet that van started out down south in the sun baking states. The front fenders look just like the trucks I have seen before the repaint from Chevy. Ford had the same problems back then.
  3. These Photos are great. Nice work on this old kit. Now I know what the funny chassis I found in a parts lot is from now.
  4. Thank you Tim. Great pictures.
  5. Longer than that. The new 23 years ago or so was the old style Coke bottle in plastic. Along with that came the 5 foot base so they did not have to have the plastic cup on the bottom of the bottle. This was cheaper and stronger and let the bottle stand up on it's own. When they had the coke bottle the way they wanted they started on the sprite bottle with the little round bumps in the side. To make it easier Alan just drink it down to the top of the label and refill with your favorite mixer.
  6. Alan it has to do with the carbonation and the way the bottles are made. Different restrictions on bottles that have carbonation. They are made by a 2 step process involving injection and blow molding. They are always trying new things so never say never.
  7. 7am and this night shifter here woke up to pee and what do I hear some human running the mower to pick up leaves. They can't wait until 9 I guess.
  8. One can only hope Dave. The biggest problem I see is that there is a limited use for the tool other than a race car and a convertible. A wagon would be a stretch.
  9. Force I agree with you. We need a new 63 Galaxie .
  10. This looks great. I like the color's you picked.
  11. UFO's sure I believe they are around the earth. Just look at all of the ancient ruins that have built objects that are seen from the sky. I made a comment at the Moon festival in Wapakoneta Ohio one time as a joke to a point about the so called moon landing. You should have seen the look the kid gave me about saying anything around there. The Neil Armstrong air and space museum is there. Nice small town to visit and the moon festival has a nice little car show.
  12. Why do we do it? When I started looking to buy kits there was very few at the hobby stores anymore. That was the start of the decline. I found the toy shows in Toledo and was surprised at the prices of kits and things that you just could not find. I have no real reason for buying what I do. Better than paying for beer only to flush it 30 minutes later. LOL
  13. The Johan label lessons their chance of a lawsuit.
  14. Tom what is the make of this bus going to be? There was a bus made in Loudinville OH Flexible I think was the name.
  15. This is a great build. That 6 in the truck is fine. The roads back than were not the super speedways we have now. I have driven a Chevy truck with a 6 in it hauling a load of pumpkins that weighted more than a couple of ton and had no trouble getting to 55.
  16. I was looking at the photo's and did not see 10,000 to 15,000 in value. That being said what I see in the photo's. There are some intakes off of cars in the one photo, so maybe there is more of that stuff sitting around. The die cast stuff you will have a hard time giving away from what the sellers at shows have said. As far as her value she has in mind, more power to her to know there is value. She does need to get a few tables at the Kalamazoo toy show coming up.
  17. Ray didn't you say this was your first car before.
  18. The 60 ford kit has been mentioned as well as the Edsel in the past to up date this era Ford. Though the are not correct they look better than the one piece unit. I guess it just depends how picky you are with what is correct. I think the 60 Ford kit has 2 engines in one of the offerings.
  19. There big problem was rust in bad spots. My friend that sold the truck has a project short bus another pickup from the 50's and several cars. The ones that do run, run well and are smooth.
  20. That is the stock bed on these trucks. My friend just sold his. They were purchased from another company by Studebaker. Something about money problems for tooling. What a shame that they could not do a bed for these trucks that fit the cab better. Someplace around 62 for the year.
  21. Maybe if they had their own wheel they saved money.
  22. Looks great
  23. Joe I am North of 50 so I will not be a dad unless I meet a girl that has kids. So i have been safe from all of my purchases. I somehow never had to babysit kiddo's overnight from my brothers and sisters mostly because of my rule no diapers. Just remember my Uncle rule, You always have a shoulder to lean on and an ear to listen when they need it.
