California Charger F.E.D. update
Dragline replied to vintagedragfan's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
GEEZ............ Will this end up being the best Cal Charger build ever? I'm thinking YES! STUNNING. The motor looks ready for a squirt and a push. WOW! Bob- 369 replies

Perfectly captured. For me I wouldn't go all glittery. But it is your model. I would go with a period color for this. It's too nice already. IMO Bob

I've GOT to get this kit! Stunning build, and great color choice. Is it Revell Germany? Tell me please.... Bob

I'd also be on board for one. If there is an active buy going I'd like to be a part of it. Bob -
Decals are one thing. Sealing BMF is another. Decals Can survive time [more than most of us have] uncoated and still be OK. But sealing them under a clear coat brings uniformity [if that's your goal] and a protectant to them. The edges are also less likely to lift My older examples of clear coated BMF [enamels and laquer] have proved to yellow over the course of a 15 year period. When held next to an uncoated example the results were clear [or yellowed] in both cases. I use enamel clears over color coats below a certain color range and laquers for above. I never clear coat over BMF. Of course these are over longer periods of time. If your goal is immortality become an actor. Those are my findings. Bob

I have to ask Chris. When these little masterpieces are done, what are they worth? I know about the "what a person will pay" thing. But let's just get an honest market type estimate of what YOUR type of quality brings. EVERY build you post here, BAR NONE, is exquisite to the bone dude. Ya see, it's not a model car per se. It's an honest to goodness race car that can be used to win races. And look totally killer doing it. The model racing world stands apart from the static model world. How's about it? Bob

Great job. I'm sure I didn't help, but you're welcome anyway. Bob

Really creative. And after seeing that VW van dragster I know anything is possible. I'll bet it wuld be a handfull. Bob -
Thanks guys. I did end up getting the nosepiece from DoubleD and it's now in place. I also finished the throttle linkage and added a couple of last minute details. Perhaps I'll update the pics at some point. I appreciate it. Bob

Looking forward to more progress on this one. Clean work I built the Garlits car about a year and a half ago. Link is here. http://www.modelcars...ts&fromsearch=1 Bob -

Sometimes, you just gotta dig down deep.

I am positive that there is a video of us dragging Ricky Miguel down the street winter of 79 in the middle of the night on a snow packed street. Remember how they had a chrome plated hang bar on the back? I personally remember dragging that kid all around under city lights. 4lbs of tire pressure and ZERO brains = Jackass 1979 Bob -
If I were to post everything I have aquired over the time this post was initially posted [07/14/2007] I would have burned my tinypic.com membership out. Suffice it to say that whatever you bought, I bought 2 of em to spite you. LOLOLOLOLZZZZ. Bob

I had a 3 wheeled Honda 110 back in 79. It never needed a tow. Of course, I broke my leg that winter on it. Perhaps 3 wheels were a bad idea? Jus sayin. Bob -
As boring a body style as there is. I have to go back to the mid 70's to see anything that gets my juices non flowing. Now I have to get into my American 2000 Cavilier with the blown Ecotech to get some beer. See you at the next stoplight. Bob

Dave..... that is NOT nice. Nice build. Bob

Perhaps the nicest one I have ever seen. The paint is stunning. Bob

FULL BUILD REVIEW: REVELL 2010 Camaro SS Deluxe kit
Dragline replied to David Thibodeau's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Looks great! The new "must have" kit list continues to expand. Bob -
I also remove every part, clean up, then paint them. I have some pretty ingenious [to me] ways of attaching parts to toothpicks, old sprue and spray can tops for either brush or spray painting. I remove every parting line that is visible [and some that are not] for as clean an item as can be possible. But that's me. Bob

Gus, pics look to me like a metallic blue chassis. Back in the day the box art car had a French Blue frame. Hope this helps... Bob -
