  1. Keep going, I can see the finish line from here. Looking good.
  2. An adorable little kit that seems pretty darned accurate. I remember these as a young man. Those back seats with the grips were all anyone talked about if the Brat came up. Dark blue lacquer with Mr Hobby clear coat. You know, the stuff that dries in 14 minutes and can be buffed within an hour. All joking aside, that stuff is amazing. A couple of ignition wires and here we have it. I will say the tires are an Ill fit. Very loose on the rims. They were probably meant for something else, but since they were close enough...
  3. Awesome car...
  4. I know I posted these before but the site purged everything pre 2024. I imagine such a large archive costs a bundle with only limited engagement to it. Built these when they came out. This was early days for Atlantis, and the promise of things to come from them. At that point these had not been run in a few decades. All TD stuff that has 3 or more decades since a reish will generate a lot of buzz. And these did OK, but I suspect a limited audience. Nothing fancy but a few lacquers and acrylics. Last time I saw these the 1/32 scale gasser series was still on the shelf's. THOSE would be a welcome sight indeed!
  5. Lotta work there. But if you gotta have one like you had, then you gotta put the work in. Looks great.
  6. Slicker than Fonzie's hair and as cool. That is looooooww.
  7. I take that back. You didn't comment on it in the completed section. I just looked. Thanks for commenting here brother.
  8. You did buddy. You commented on it in the completed section. The pics look almost the same so that's why. Go look and you'll see. Thanks for the kudos though. ⁰
  9. To illustrate, Ace comes along with real world and crushes it. And the big three were not alone. Smaller companies, wishing to emulate the big CO's go ahead and incorporate all the good things and the bad without even bothering to ask "Is that really the best solution for that?" Nope, just copy it, warts and all. Just imagine your job as a small companies Engineer. Copy the good, improve on the bad. A win-win if I'm asked. But why bother? Bean counters AND lazy Engineers. Now that's 2.
  10. I agree with bomb proofing hinges. It just never got done. Even my 2000 Cavalier was not immune. It's a 2 door so they are longer and sure as sugar, the driver's door slouches. Meanwhile the passengers door is like day 1.
  11. Over engineering is as bad as under. The mid 70s saw an ad for Benz with all four doors open and an engineer with his posterior parked on each one. Touting their over engineered door hinges. Oh there is a lesson GM could have taken from Stuttgart. If you ever climbed into a mid 70's GM anything and felt the door slouch as you opened it then you would appreciate an over engineered door hinge. Wedging and beating GM door hinges is not my idea of fun.
  12. They seem like 1/24 scale to me. They are about right when placed next to an automobile of either 1/24 or 1/25 scale
  13. Tra, LaLa, Tra,LaLaLaLa, Tra LaLa, Tra, LaLaLaLa Flippin at the pancake, Poppin at the cork. Fleegle, Bingo, Drooper and Snork!
  14. If you are wondering why they all have their hand in the same place it's because they were all meant to drive the buggy. Each Split has how own sunglass design which goes on the front of the buggy. So it corresponds with which figure you decide is driving as to which sunglass design you place there. I liked Snorky's buggy the best since it has all the polka dots (Absent at the moment) so he drives. In the picture you see white ish film over the lens centers of the buggy. That is Mod Podge drying.
  15. I need one of these on the shelf for sure. Your build is excellent brother. Time to start rounding up parts.
  16. I knew the nostalgia would heavy with this group. We are largely of an age to remember these characters. I am sure more will weigh in on their recollections when they see this post. It's the very reason I bought them. And Yes, the song will haunt you should you start playing it in your head. Best thing to do is seek it out on YouTube and get it over with.
  17. Indeed it is. I would have loved a 1/12 build, but the cost being what it is I settled on 1/20. It will still be epic I know that much.
  18. This is the Jimmy Flintstone clone of the old Aurora kit in resin. When these first arrived I was giddy with excitement. The Splits were one of my favorite shows as a child. I saw sneak peek type pictures and was stoked to get a copy for my collection. When they arrived with a price of 99.99 I was NOT stoked. That is far and away not a great price for this kit. They were playing against nostalgia no doubt. So I put it on the back burner. Then a few months ago I see them on sale for 49.99 on eBay. At that point I was OK with the price. So I pulled the trigger and got one. I'm not sure if it was quality that was a problem, but once I got it and opened the box I was disappointed. Tons of flash and ragged edges as well as short shot in a few places. If they shipped this quality at 100 dollars I can see why they may have not done well. I suspect that this lot was either 2nd quality or rushed for the sale. Either way I now have Banana Splits on my shelf. After fixing most of the large booboo's I painted them as seen on the show. I still need pink and purple polka dots for Snorkie's buggy. Either some decal prints or careful paint work. So I now have them and that's what matters.
  19. That car has never looked better. Those colors agree with the flowing lines. Not an easy kit to make look as spectacular as this.
  20. That I am not certain of. I bought a big collection of lead and pewter figures from the early days of figure casting. IR figured (no pun) prominently. I'll have to check.
  21. Never built.one.of these. Ive seen many and this one is near the top.
  22. What a handful.those things.mist.be .it has a shorter wheelbase than my PS 71 Vega and that was a two hander at all times. Love how it came out!
  23. "Oh no Sir, that's legal height. Now you you can check it if you want to". Make sure you add the glove full of tickets.
