Do you make notes/memory aids as you build?
Dragline replied to Mattblack's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I put builds away in various stages all the time. I break one out, work on it for a while, then return it to the shelf. This got me thinking a long time ago. Take or make notes. Mostly it's paint by brand and color. Forgetting what you used when you have say gold by 4 or 5 manufacturers, and for the life of you remembering is just not gonna happen. Then notes are a must . I can see my progress building, but paint? -
At least we can now confirm where the VW Thing came from. VW clearly copied it. Unless the Thing came first. Odd thing this. Well done.

1926 RANCHERO: What if Henry greenlighted the Ranchero in 1926?

That is waaaay cool bro. For real. -
Top marks for using those wheels and tires. While the two piece tires and wheels it comes with can be made to work. I always thought these kits were a little light in that Dept. Top Marks...

Ariel 9 Sailboat
Dragline replied to Dragline's topic in All The Rest: Motorcycles, Aviation, Military, Sci-Fi, Figures
I plan to. Apparently kids still sail boats in the pond at my local park. There are the radio controlled types, but I am told old school boats like this are common. -

Using a technique I learned watching guys (Nightshift) build great armor on YouTube, I used this kit as a testbed for a chipping technique. I won in some places, lost in others. But overall I am pleased. I know I posted this before but I think the pics no longer load. A few things have fallen off over the last couple of years. The air cleaner, throttle cable and bottom kick stand. I have it on the bench to fix those items and figured what the heck.

Under the right circumstance, Norm could possibly be talked into putting one together. He told me that when he was initially making them he would do batches of 5 I believe. I think only a face to face with someone he has at least passing friendliness with could possibly get him to put one together. But then again, he might just say no.

I am almost positive I have seen this in plastic at some point. As to where I saw it, I could not say. It is certainly a rare piece in the real world and worth quite a bit. Pure race single plane manifolds from the 60s got pretty scarce some years ago. The hoarders of the world will pay whatever it takes to get anything associated with Smokey of course, but I am pretty sure these were small batch even new in the 1:1 world. I have a small tray with nothing but manifolds in it. I'll take a look but I wouldn't hold out too much hope. But I am pretty sure it has been made in styrene. Probably old MPC or AMT stock car kits are where I saw this. But I've been wrong before breakfast this morning so....

You cannot help but become better. Build a bum kit that cost 45.00 and you'll definitely step up your game for the next one.

That's what I'm talking about about! Very well done brother. I stick plug wire or something a bit bigger in my braided hose. It stops the collapse and allows placement. Try it next time brother. And, you can use it to connect to fittings as well. Win/Win

I've seen my share of those as well and wanted mine to look that way. Big blown Hemi's with open zoomies and ridiculous rakes. Not raked, but the tires helped.

Mind blown Zippi! That looks great. I have the files, now to get the nerve to print em. I'm working up to it slowly. Printed some figures, they came out nice. I have a heater for the resin coming. It should help with larger projects. Consider that build nailed bro!
