Dumb median design - anyone else see this?
Rob Hall replied to 89AKurt's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
I encountered a Diverging Diamond intersection for the first time recently on a visit to Colorado Springs...an intersection I drove through countless times when I lived there 25 years ago, was rebuilt a few years ago as a DD. Diverging diamonds are a curious thing, end up driving on the opposite side of the road for a bit.. We are starting to get a lot of roundabouts built here in NE Ohio. I remember all the ones around Sedona in AZ last time I went up there about 10 years ago. I-25 and Fillmore DD: -
Distasteful may be in the eye of the beholder.

They’ve grown on me, I like the folding hardtop aspect. I like the original SC a lot. I also really like the LC 500. Would love to have a Nori green LC convertible. -

Beautiful fall weather here in NE Ohio lately. Was at the beach for sunset last night...was out rolling around last night and today in my Caddy, sunroof open blasting Def Leppard's Hysteria (feeling 17 again)... got my 5.0 out this afternoon, put on Van Halen's 5150.. really reminding me of my youth and how long ago 1987 is... life is good all in all, but I'm really feeling my age some days. Got home and put on some Rush...I love 'Subdivisions' and 'Time Stand Still', those two have a lot of personal connection...

Just a stylized image, I'd assume its the same old, same old.. -
They look like gorgeous kits and builds. I've never had any of the Jo-han classics, but have built some of the Monogram ones years ago.

Progress or stupidity? You decide...

My Cadillac has the LED projector bulb lights and LED light strips that function as turn signals and cornering lamps. They have auto on and auto high beam on/off settings which work pretty well. They are definitely brighter and throw further than the older Halogen bulbs on my Jeep. -

Saw a clean maroon Lincoln Mark III and a maroon ‘67 Chevy Impala convertible with a white top when out and about on this beautiful early fall Sunday. -
Let's see your geegaws!

That engine stand looks similar to the one in the ‘40 Ford kit. -
Sounds like maybe the Revell '99 Silverado..most recently reissued in 2023. It's the only extended cab Silverado kit I know of (released in stock versions and modified versions). It doesn't have a cowl hood, but I've seen resin ones on eBay. Box art of the 2023 reissue: Scalemates has pics of the previous issue box art here: https://www.scalemates.com/search.php?fkSECTION[]=Kits&q=revell+99+chevy

That kit has some proportion issues with the roof and rear quarters. I recall lots of discussion here when it was first released 20+ years ago.

Was in my favorite lake/beach towns yesterday and saw this very clean ‘57 Chevy 4dr..green with white roof, color keyed wheels and dog dish caps. Alas, it turned before I could snap a pic. -
47F this morning when I rolled out the trash bins. Feeling like fall..a little chilly for shorts and flip flops. Went to a couple local beaches yesterday, 65 and sunny but breezy.

Moebius Official Announcement 1964 Mercury Comets

Too much work, and it wouldn’t surprise me if they are different sizes even though both are 1/25th. -
Moebius Official Announcement 1964 Mercury Comets
Rob Hall replied to Erik Solie's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
No such thing with that hood, though. That twin nostril hood was never used on a regular production Comet…fiberglass part for drag racing versions, wasn’t it? Just another custom version, though weirdly with stock Cyclone wheels. Was Moebius trying to make a Cyclone? I’m sure the aftermarket will make a stock hood soon though. Edit: Found a car very similar to Moebius' box art. A '64 Comet Cyclone K-code with that hood. Lots of paragraphs of blatherage, but it does say the hood was not a factory option. Who knows, was over 60 years ago. Link: https://www.mydreamcar.online/2022/05/12/1964-k-code-mercury-cyclone/. There is a non-working link to more pics and a video on that page. -
79 Nova Wheelbase
Rob Hall replied to Perspect Scale Modelworks's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
When I grew up in the Florida Keys in the 80s, the local newspaper would run a weekly pic of a ‘Keys Cruiser’—either something old or customized but also often something very, very rusty. A friend from high school had a rusty ‘75 Granada he sawed the roof off of to make a convertible, for instance. A neighbor had a rusty mid 70s Cutlass wagon where the body mounts had broken off the frame and it went down the road with the body at an angle (maybe 10-15 degrees) to the chassis… -

As far as actual cars with different wheel bases on each side, the only one I know of is the Renault R4..may be others more obscure.
