  1. It is unfortunate, as I had good luck w/ TMR back in the mid oughts...bought a bunch of parts and some transkits from him then. I'd love to have their '73 Charger SE, but worry I'd never get it...
  2. 2013. I saw some months listed (below) on another forum, but it's all subject to change, I'm sure..nothing certain at this point. I'm sure over the next 6 months some or all of these will be released... 1st half 2013 (based on what I've seen elsewhere and on Tower Hobbies) 49 Mercury wagon Sept/Oct 57 Chevy Bel Air conv Sept/Oct 64 Foose Impala July/Aug 67 Chevy Corvette conv 2n1 July/Aug 69 Chevy Camaro ZL1 June/July 67 Foose Charger Aug 77 Pontiac Firebird T/A Smokey & The Bandit June/July 83 Camaro Pro Stock Sept/Oct 99 Ford Expedition June/July 70 Hemi Cuda Nov/Dec 2nd Half 2013 85-4024 1/25 Fireball Roberts' 57 Ford - JULY 85-2501 1/16 Kenworth W-900 Conventional SSP - AUG 85-4183 1/24 Li'l Coffin - AUG 85-6732 1/25 Rat Fink w/Diorama - SEPT 85-1740 Dave Deal's Glitter Bug - AUG 85-1508 1/25 Peterbilt 359 Wrecker Tri-Axle - SEPT 85-4194 1/24 Paddy Wagon w/Figures - SEPT 85-4949 1/25 D&M 62 Corvette Gasser - SEPT 85-4097 1/24 37 Ford Coupe Street Rod - SEPT 85-4098 1/24 Motorcraft T-Bird Pro Stock - SEPT 85-1976 1/24 New Beetle - OCT 85-4025 1/25 69 Shelby GT500 Convertible - OCT 85-4022 1/25 50 Olds Custom - NOV 85-4188 1/24 78 Corvette Indy Pace Car - NOV 85-4192 1/24 60s Beetle Type 1 - NOV 85-4997 1/25 Slingster Dragster - NOV 85-4093 1/24 Cop-Out - AUG 85-4189 1/25 53 Chevy Panel - DEC 85-2811 1/12 Foose 69 Camaro Z-28 - DEC
  3. This kit is of the generation before the 4dr model came out.
  4. Sounds like a project management and quality assurance problem in Revell's design/development process...I run into these kinds of problems everyday in the software biz, but things are much more malleable w/ software and. less costly to fix along the way than w/ projects where there are physical deliverables.
  5. Looking forward to this one..have it on order w/ HLJ. I love '70s Porsche race cars.
  6. Well put...I'm in my early 40s, my high school and college cars were Fox Mustangs ('86 LX and '87 GT), drove them through my 20s..so it's definitely a nostalgia subject for me, and others of my generation. I connect w/ cars of this era in a way I'd never connect w/ something from the 60s or older. Kits like the Monogram Mustangs of the '80s-90s, '80s Monte Carlo SS, FIrebirds, Camaros, Buick GN, those are all models of cars I remember from my youth..the LX notchback has long been a missing link as far as cars of that era, so I'm definitely dissapointed in the new kit. Imagine how the older modelers would react if Revell put out a grossly inaccurate Tri-Five Chevy.
  7. Some people have been waiting 18 months to 2 years or more for parts from them. I'm surprised they still have their website up since they can't deliver.
  8. If they've been designing models that long, it's time for retirement, isn't it? The 50 Olds is a rather old and obscure subject, from long before my time...the '90 Mustang on the other hand, is recent and familiar and a lot of people know these cars and still own them, and can spot the errors...
  9. I got the Missing Link resin '72 Olds Cutlass Supreme ht in the mail yesterday and a Revell '90 Mustang LX 5.0 in the mail today.
  10. Maybe they are more lax with vintage subjects than they would be with models of current subjects...who knows. It is what it is..time to move on.
  11. Very well stated...as I've previously said, 'good enough' means accepting mediocrity. As consumers, we shouldn't support companies that put out mediocre products. The problem is, Revell is the only game in town w/ this product, and they've screwed up. Frustrating situation. I'm surprised Ford would have approved the licensing considering how inaccurate the body is.
  12. Nice to see the Tamiya Toyota van reissued, I remember seeing those in the Tamiya catalog from about 1997. Will have to get one this time...
  13. 1) Was your introduction to modeling at home? Yes 2) From whom? My older brother 3) What kind of models (cars, planes, trains, etc)? Cars 4) What did the person who introduced you to modeling do for a living ? car salesman 5) How old were you? 6 or 7 6) About what year was your introduction? 1976-1977
  14. Sharp build..I have this kit in my to-build stash, thinking Wimbeldon white or that silver blue that popular w/ Ford and Mercury then...I got a set of Modelhaus whitewalls and '70 LTD wheelcovers for mine..
  15. Do you not place any importance on accuracy? An accurate body is the most important part of a kit--and the most basic requirement. An all-new kit should above all have an accurate body. This kit doesn't have one. Simple. as. that. There is no excuse in 2013 that a model company can't get a common subject that was last in production 20 years ago right when they can get obscure subjects from 60 years ago right. Shouldn't they be using modern techniques like 3D scanning? I don't get this 'good enough' mentality among car modelers--you don't see it in aviation or military modelers--they take accuracy of a kit very seriously and raise quite a ruckus when kit makers screw up. Car builders seem too complacent...
  16. Maybe 'good enough' for people that have never seen the 1:1 subject, but those of us that know the 1:1 Fox Mustangs are disappointed in the many issues w/ the body. Revell can and has done better w/ other subjects. This is comparable to the goof up they did w/ the first issue Pro Modeler '69 Charger. Remember, 'good enough' = mediocre. Model companies should aim for excellence or not try at all.
  17. The seat belt thingys for the rear shoulder harnesses, I think. My '86 didn't have those, IIRC.
  18. Noticed that...one thing I'm wondering about is the shape of the edge of the decklid...on the 1:1, there is a slight curve at the top edge of the decklid from left to right, peaking above the keyhole. Looks flat in these pics. The main issues (and there are many) I've seen raised by others are the height of the windshield opening and side window openings---- people that have seen the kit and whose judgement I trust and that know the 1:1 really well (I've owned 2 Fox Mustangs, but others have much deeper experience w/ them). The general consensus so far is that the body is less accurate than previous Monogram and MPC Foxes. I noticed the LX and blue oval decklid badges are missing, but I think those are #3 on the decals. I wonder why the police decals have '70s style Cali plates.. Here's a pic of a 1:1 illustrating the decklid curvature I'm talking about..
  19. I've heard both for years...though ping (.png) is the in format these days...
  20. Sharp...I have both those issues of that kit, but have never built them...
  21. Work and went out to lunch.
  22. Interesting..thought Ferrari had market exclusivity on self-combusting sports cars.
  23. As have I...it looks like the body of the new kit has some....issues. I'm still looking forward to getting at least one next month.
  24. Stopped by my LHS after work today, they had all the May Revell and AMT releases in...picked up the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon and '13 Camaro ZL1 kits. They had 2 of the '90 Mustang LX kits, but they were held back for someone that preordered them...oh well..I have one on preorder from Model Roundup. Saw a 1:1 '13 Camaro ZL1 in orange on the street as I left the hobby shop. They also had the 1/12th Tamiya Carrera GT--huge kit. Now if Tamiya would do a 1/12 917K, I'd be interested...
