Just heard that...I'm bummed. I'm a big fan of the Sopranos..probably my favorite TV show of the last decade.

Popped over to the LHS at lunch and picked up the June Revell new releases--'69 Camaro ZL1, '77 Smokey & The Bandit Firebird T/A, and '99 Expedition Police (plan to kitbash this one w/ the Lightning PU). Edit: Opened them up the check the parts tonight.. The Camaro has a separate bag w/ the steel wheels, wheel backs, and hubcaps. The chrome tree for the RS/SS is included w/ the RS grille and Rally wheels. The Expedition was a surprise--not just new decals--but a lot of new police parts, incl. the wheels, grille, interior parts, antennas, roof light, push bar, etc. The Firebird looks good--a styrene version of the diecast version from about 10 years ago. Never had that one, but heard it was nice. Nice set of snowflake wheels.

Looking forward to this kit..I have a gluebomb of the Countdown Series issue. Probably will get 3--stock, street machine, and one to convert to a '68.

The original issue of the kit was a 3n1, with the box art shown in the first post. Stock, custom, or NASCAR. The new issue is supposed to bring back optional parts long gone..

Maybe they will do a second issue w/ retooled hood and grille to do the earlier car later...like they did w/ the '75 and '76 Gremlins.

It was there...not there now. (http://www.round2models.com/models/amt). Maybe it's being delayed. There are other previously announced kits that aren't shown there, but given how inconsistent Round 2 is with updating their website, I wouldn't read much into it yet..

Yes..that one had some different wheels and the police parts, but basically the same kit.

I bet it is...wasn't that engine a BBC? IIRC the previous issues didn't have much engine compartment detail either..probably best to glue the hood shut or scrounge up a 6 cyl.

Probably...I have a few of the previous issues in my stash but they are all in storage.

Typical '70s MPC chassis w/ wheel mounting pins and 1-piece rear suspension, molded in driveshaft, etc IIRC. This kit was last out about 10 years ago w/ a purple car on the box art and labeled as a Duster.

Looking forward to this. I have the '90s issue of the '61 Ranchero. Was there a '60 Ranchero annual back in the day or only the '61?

The AMT is a deluxe trim level, the Revell is the base model.

Nice...I don't have that issue..I have a couple of the '60s originals, the 1980 Barris Cruisin' USA issue, and the one w/ the beige car on the box. I think I saw somewhere this kit is being reissued in the fall...

Torpedo? Never heard that term w/ the 50s bodystyles...I thought that was a '40s thing. MCW has a few bodies available for the Olds..incl. a fastback.

Yeah, anything that requires typing I prefer using my laptop for... the use cases for my tablet are definitely different...I use mine to read magazines on (I've gone to digital mags for everything except Collectible Automobile and MCM), watch videos (though I often use an hdmi cable to hook to an HDTV)--so much content for streaming is available through Amazon Prime and Netflix, read email, Twitter, and Facebook from bed in the evening and early morning. I used to do most of that from my phone, but the tabby gives me a larger screen. But for any kind of work or when I have to type a lot (Excel, Word, Quicken, etc) I need my laptop. I've started taking my tablet when I go out of town on vacations, though, instead of lugging around my laptop. A laptop works well for content consumption and creation, whilst my phone, tablet, Kindle and iPod are for content consumption.

Yes... I know in my line of work I've seen a lot of changes and evolution of technology during my career..most of the basic principles of CS are still the same as when I was in college 20+ years ago, but I've been constantly learning as the technologies have changed and evolved....I wouldn't be employed if I was still using the same technology set as I was using in 1990 or 2000.

Very true...I'm sure at the turn of the 20th century some people wrote off automobiles as 'evil' and vowed to stay w/ their horse and buggy...

eBay is great...I've been a happy user for nearly 16 years (started on it in 1997). It's long been my go-to resource for old kits...some new ones also, as well as resin parts, etc. Way more selection than I'd find at the local kit swap meet (which is only a few times a year) and it's open 24/7..

That's very cool..I wish I could get my Mom online. I call her every week, but would love to be able to email her photos and notes... my Mom is 82 and healthy and feisty, but 1500 miles away...

They are kind of like the Amish. Here but not here. The Amish are still living in the 17th century, people w/o computer literacy and access are still living in the 20th century. Just the way it is...

I couldn't imagine not being on the internet. Not just because my career depends on access to it. Without the internet, would I be using 'stamps' and 'envelopes' to pay bills? Writing paper letters? Using a 'phonebook'? Do a job search? So much of day-to-day life today is conducted online.. it would be like living in the past. Sounds scary. I've been using computers for 30 years and online for over 25 (had CompuServe back in the day). As far as older folks and the internet, my sister is in her 50s and uses an iPad and a laptop, online all the time. My older brother (63) has zero internet access (used to have a PC and dialup for a few years back in the dialup era) but he's kind of a hermit out in the sticks...

I like that show also...been watching since it first came on..good gritty drama...wondering if it will be back for another season.

Where have the diecast companies modeled theirs from? Exoto, Shelby Collectibles have done them in 1:18th, for example...
