Unsafe paint booth fans - "prove it"
Rob Hall replied to Der Bugmeister's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
You'd have to be pretty stupid not to see the danger in such a setup (exhaust fan spray booth)... -
Sharp build of a rare car..

I think that is from the onions. I like onions, but they don't like me so I try and avoid them..i used to frequent White Castle when I lived in Ohio..don't recall seeing any where I was in Michigan, Colorado or Arizona. I generally avoid fast food, but once in a while I crave McDonald's breakfast biscuit sandwiches..

Is our hobby, growing or skrinking?
Rob Hall replied to Chris White's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The hobby has a limited future if the only subjects made are old. There has to be a balance...the old stuff is great, but the limited selection of current subject kits is very frustrating. I like quite a few real world cars of the here and now and love to have more of them available in models....not everyone lives in the past and hates modern cars..that's a stereotype of modelers, it seems. -
Revell Germany VW Beetle 1500 (Limousine and Cabriolet)
Rob Hall replied to Luc Janssens's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Oddly, the Limousine (sedan) is now showing as 'discontinued' on the Revell website.. http://www.hobbyshipper.com/cgi-bin/wsr600p?V=RMX&I=RVLS7083 I wonder what's up with that....cancelled? -
Never had a problem w/ them either..I use the Private Warehouse feature to group items into shipments and with Fed Ex shipping it's usually 3 days from Japan, faster than many shippers with the US. I've been building Tamiya kits off and on for close to 30 years, my first one was the Audi Coupe Quattro kit back around 1985... as far as other Japanese brands, I've been happy w/ Aoshima, Fujimi and Hasegawa kits as well.

Sounds like what I was familiar with in NE Ohio back in the day...when I lived in SE Michigan it was similar, but with less snow but more ice and more gray...

Since Round 2 has been upgrading the tires in their recent releases ('66 Mustang, '69 Olds 442 H/O, others) it wouldn't surprise me if this one has the new tires...even without them, I'll probably get one..I like the retro box art..

It's a neat kit..this is my first. I remember when it was out in the 90s...it's such an offbeat subject that I had to have it..

No idea..eBay only seems to let you go back 3 years in Purchase History. I can see feedback reviews and item numbers going back to 1997 but not the items. All I can remember is in 1997 while still at the U of Michigan in grad school I was collecting vintage Hot Wheels and got a number of them from eBay..but I don't remember which ones I bought....no idea how much I've spent on eBay since then...at least 1500 transactions.

The Most Embarrassing Cars To Drive
Rob Hall replied to slusher's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yes, much better without the Aztek-inspired cheesy cladding... -
I finally did it...... EBay First-timer
Rob Hall replied to Ramfins59's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yeah...I started on eBay early in 1997 w/ some vintage Hot Wheels cars....a couple thousand transactions since then. -
Yes, theirs is quite nice...I have one along w/ the MPC originals..there are a couple other resin ones out there, but the Modelhaus one is probably the best.
-
I assume some of the tooling was revised from the '68 form into the '69s and then the '70, which is still what exists today. Who knows what happened at MPC..was over 4 decades ago...

Maybe a blending of 'shrinking' and 'skanking' (a type of dance to Ska music) ? -

As far as modeling being educational, the process of researching a build definitely is...I've put the time and effort in researching the particular car I'm building a kit of, finding photos of 1:1s online or in magazines, determining the correct engine colors, body and interior color choices, and learning about subtle differences between trim levels, body styles, model years, etc. -
mpc Pacer x it has a mile of glass but no class lol
Rob Hall replied to mnwildpunk's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I wonder if it would be straightforward to swap the 6 with the 8 from one of the Gremlin kits... -
Nice clean build...I like the color scheme and wheels.
-
Beautiful build...I have a couple of these kits (the regular and the one in the '80s 3-kit set), but haven't built them.

Rob Hall replied to Luc Janssens's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
In lieu of styrene kits, I wonder if there have been any 1:24th scale diecast split windows. I've seen them in diecast in other scales.. -
Sure...I typically pay about $50 for two new kits at the LHS, so $50 for a double kit (which also includes a trailer) seems reasonable.

TV advertising is a dying form anyway, what with DVRs and streaming...
