I seem to recall there were other outrageous '70s show cars also kitted by Airfix..when I was a kid, IIRC they were sold in the US under the 'US Airfix' brand...I remember the Ferrari Rainbow and maybe a Maserati (Boomerang?)....

Heading toward 43 now. Some things I've noticed about being past 40 than when I was before 40 is I now have to take off my glasses and squint to read my cell phone...maybe need reading glasses. I also got my first Cadillac when I was 41... I don't seem to be able to drink as much as I did in my mid 30s, which is probably a good thing. I find I need stronger sleeping pills now, harder to sleep. I find myself craving afternoon naps. I still remember being a teenager in the Big 80s, doesn't seem that long ago, but it's been 25 years now since high school..hard to believe.

The Best Car Ever Tested?

Speaking of battery life, gas-electric hybrids have been around a long time now, I do wonder how battery life is with them...I've never heard of anyone replacing the battery on a Prius, for example. I have friends that have put over 200k on their older Prii and are still on the original battery pack... -
Sweet..love the selection...I saw an Aston Zagato very similar to the pictured car a few years ago here at the Copperstate 1000 event. I'd love to have seen the Senna Lotus....I saw a Mario Andretti Lotus 77 in JPS livery at Sonoma a few years ago...love those cars.

The Best Car Ever Tested?

Given I drive about 50 miles a day round trip M-F, an electric would work fine for me as a commuter car for the range...but I'll stick my w/ 6-cyl RWD car and SUV for the forseeable future, though I may switch to a V8 RWD car for my next daily driver. It all depends on the driver's use case for a car whether or not the range is an issue. -

It is a beautiful car, seen several around here. I have no problem w/ Consumer Reports approach, I know I'm not their target audience as far as cars...I'm not in the mainstream..nothing wrong w/ that. I've used CR before in evaluating home appliances, (washer and dryer, etc), their methodology seems sound.. -

Consumer Reports definitely is not a 'gearhead' or auto enthusiast type publication. They are a consumer-focused publication for the mainstream that buy a car for transportation. The Tesla is a niche eco-luxury car, odd that they would like it so much, compared to say a Prius, Camry or other mainstream appliance. -
I am surprised they are Foosing the 1/12th Camaro....though a Foosed 1/25th Camaro probably wouldn't be much different than the existing Motor City Muscle kits (same idea)..
-
I really doubt they will do that..sounds like this as described-- the existing Z/28 kit with Foose wheels, large tires, and new decals..doubt if there are any other new parts.
-
They've been around at least 20 years...I remember ordering from their print catalog and buying parts from them at the Toledo show back around '91 or so..
-
Since most of their parts are kit restoration parts, I already have a good idea what the part looks like...I've been buying w/ confidence from Don for at least 20 years now. As far as their resin kits, there are photos of many them online, in particular a site on Fotki.

Yes, another great one. I've got a couple models of Ferraris he drove. Got a great coffee table book by Allan de La Plante on Gilles, it covers the era quite well.

I definitely prefer retail businesses that are open Sundays...though Sundays for me mean watching motorsports and football when in season, I do use the weekends to take care of errands like grocery shopping, dog supply shopping, etc.. -
Huh? The upcoming Revell kit is a reissue of the New Beetle kit, which a '99-00 or so. Not the new Beetle. No one has kitted the new Beetle yet, maybe RoG will eventually.
-
It will always be the 'New Beetle' because the new generation is named 'Beetle' instead of New New Beetle.

Varies depending on the state...car dealers are open here on Sundays. -
Sounds like a straight reissue of the '90s era Pro Street Super Bee that's been reissued a few times over the years, but w/ new decals. Re: Greg's question--Dirty Donny is a graphic artist that did the art work for the AMT '70s Chevy van last year, that was the first I'd heard of him.

I enjoy dropping by my local hobby shop after work a couple times a month, to see what has come in, pick up a new release or two and supplies. I buy a lot of kits from online retailers in the US and Japan also. I avoid the big chains.
