  1. I'll probably go Saturday for a couple hours. Never been to an IPMS deal..is there much model car content?
  2. A buddy of mine did something like that in '98..bought a '91 NSX in Portland and drove it back home to Denver. Looks like a sweet car..ever since I sold my M3, I've thought about getting a 911, esp. a 993...I have a buddy in Breckenridge w/ a 993 C4S..fun car.

  4. Been building since 1978 (am 40 now). Have finished about 250 models. Have about 250 'used' restorable old builtups. Have about 1500 unbuilts, in storage in 3 states. Really need to consolidate everything in one place. Next house, next state. Most of my unbuilts are kits I've bought new since 1997, when I got back in after the previous decade away (when I was in high school, college and grad school I didn't build much), though I have a number of vintage (early 60s through 80s) unbuilts to build eventually...
  5. Hah hah..Camelback is the name of the street.
  6. I forgot about that one...don't have it.
  7. I assume this is a rebox of the Revell of Germany kit that came out a few months ago...I wonder if they made any changes for this release.
  8. Interesting...my understanding about Synergy Green is for '10 it's only available on the V6 LT model, but for '11 it will be available on the V8 SS also.. I saw another Synergy Green one yesterday, don't know if it's the same one from work or not..drove by the local Chevy store on Camelback, they have at least 4 Camaros on the lot--white, bright red, black, and orange w/ black stripes.
  9. Got a familiar little white box from the Modelhaus yesterday, some resto parts for some old AMT Corvettes I have ('62 and '67).
  10. For paint and tools, I still use the local shops... For Revell, Revell of Germany, AMT, Lindberg kits, I've used Evers Toy Store (www.everstoystore.com) and Model Express (www.modelexpress.net) for years...Evers over 10 years. Great customer service for both. For Japanese brand kits (Tamiya, etc) I've used Hobby Link Japan (www.hlj.com) for years and more recently also Hobby Search (www.1999.co.jp).
  11. The '69/70 Mustang Sportsroof (fastback) has the same type of quarter window as the Duster. Alas, the old MPC '69 kit (reissued countless times) lacks them. And almost every 1:64th scale diecast lacks them...
  12. From Japan, 3 sets of new Aoshima wheels, the Tamiya Aston Martin DBS, and the Revell of Germany Mercedes 560SEC.
  13. The rear wheelwell openings seem different also..the red car seems to have a raised lip around the opened up wheelwell opening, but the primer one doesn't seem to...also, the red car has a blacked out grille..
  14. Speaking of the McLaren SLR 722, are the wheels the only difference from the regular SLR kit? I have the regular one but passed on the 722..
  15. One key detail I've noticed from the magazine pics of Hemi Darts are the swiss-cheesed seat tracks. The resin seats I got from a certain resin caster have that detail.
  16. Yes, I have both of those AF/X kits...pretty nice. I think the 1:1 '67-69 Dart 2dr sedan shared it's roof w/ the Valiant. The AF/X Hemi Dart incl. the body w/ the opened rear wheel wells, hood w/ scoop, and decklid..I also got a set of the special seats from them (separate from the Dart kit). Got to build it eventually as one of the primer gray and black Hemi Darts.
  17. There is a nice '68 Dart GTS in pale yellow w/ dds, steelies and redlines in 'Mopar Milestones' magazine this month. Would be a nice way to build this kit also.
  18. Watching WW of Sports and reading Road & Track at an early age in the late '70s hooked me on Indy, Le Mans, and F1 racing...
  19. Too much NASCAR and silly 'reality' shows on Speed for my tastes, but at least they have F1, Grand Am, Le Mans, ALMS,and Rolex Sportscar racing...would like to see WRC also.
  20. I haven't even started my '62 or '66 Impalas...still haven't started my Revell '65 Impala convertible kit from years ago...alas, my buy-to-finish ratio is pretty poor...
  21. So it sounds like the body in this kit may be the same as that in the previous Sox & Martin issue? That was a '68 w/ no vinyl top...don't recall if it had GTS emblems or not, though.
  22. Some vendors list it for August, some September. Soon, sounds like.
  23. Nice...I'll probably get a couple, do one as a Hemi drag car and one as a Hemi street machine. I have one of the earlier '68 kits w/ a resin Hemi transkit (separate decklid, opened out rear fenders, A-100 seats, steelies) that I want to do as one of the primer gray/black cars that I've seen photos of.
  24. 'simpler' definitely doesn't imply 'better', IMO. In olden days, that TV w/ rabbit ears was often B&W and tiny, lucky to get a few channels (remember when TVs had UHF and VHF)? No remote. Now I've got my 60 inch flat screen HDTV, over 100 channels, DVR, DVD player, etc...a lot more cool gadgets today.. I remember having a Commodore 64 computer in the '80s and later dial up internet w/ BBSes 20 years ago...now I have laptops w/ wireless broadband at home, a 'smartphone' cell phone that I can surf the web on, etc. (though I'll admit I'm a computer engineer, and love technology, gadgets, and computers... ) I haven't regularly driven a car w/ a carb in 20 years.
  25. My excuse also..I was born in '70. I barely remember the late '70s.
