I watched all those shows as a kid in the '70s-80s. About the only ones of those I can still watch and enjoy are The Rockford Files and Starsky and Hutch.

For racing movies, I like Grand Prix, Le Mans, and Winning. Talledega Nights is the best NASCAR racing movie, IMHO..

There were a couple good chases IIRC in Lethal Weapon 4, one involving a little Grand Am vs. a Merc S class. I liked the chase in Die Hard 3 w/ the Merc S class (a car similar to my old beast). The chases in Die Hard 4 were ruined by too much obvious CGI, IMHO.

It does. The movie is a bit formulaic, but it's fun seeing Neeson being a badazz.

Ya, down the through the LA river..great chase. Another great chase in T2 is near the end, with the tanker truck, delivery van and S10 pickup. I still love the tension of that sequence, when the tanker truck turns around.. I haven't watched T3 in a while, my least favorite of the trilogy..I recall a good chase w/ a Caddy hearse, IIRC. The Bourne films had some good chases, esp. the 2nd one w/ the Lada and Merc G class in Russia.

Ah, yeah..I remember all of those... Jade in some places reminded me an homage to 'Bullitt' w/ the San Fran settings. The Mustang in that reminded me of my 1:1. R

Another recent movie chase I thought of that I liked was 'Joy Ride'... the Mopar vs. evil truck scenario was reminicent of Duel.

Interesting...I actually saw a 1:1 Checker yesterday...was an off-white or gray one, tail poking out of a carport in a neighborhood a few blocks from mine...hadn't seen one of those in many years.

Nope. IIRC, the only '90s FWD GM promos besides the Beretta and Storm were the '96 or so Monte Carlo and Aurora from Brookfield Collectors Guild. Revell had an '89-91 or so Grand Prix kit, and there was an unbranded '88 or '89 Regal promo. Nothing like the Bonneville.

Very nice..I didn't know Bburago did a 900. The color scheme reminds me of the '91 my sister had...similar styling, though the '91's front end was sloped back.

About the only resembalance from the J30 to any Bonneville I see are 4drs and 4 wheels. Their were 3 generations of FWD Bonnevilles--- '87-91, '92-99, '00-05. The only thing remotely similar in scale is the Brookfield Olds Aurora promo--would have a similar chassis to the later generations. But totally different body and interior. Alas, the Bonneville is just one of the many cars from the last couple decades never kitted and would require a lot of scratchbuilding to make a decent replica of, I'm afraid.

My favorites for older movies--Bullitt, French Connection, Seven Ups, Duel, White Lightning (love that 71 Galaxie), The Driver, Blues Brothers, To Live and Die in LA. Many of the older Bond movies had great chases..loved the car scenes in On Her Majesty's Secret Service, though George Lazenby was the worst Bond, IMHO. For more recent movies-- Ronin (my favorite overall, probably), Transporter (the first one, though the 2nd and 3rd had some decent chases), the freeway chase in the 2nd/3rd Matrix movies, and the recent Bond movies had some good ones also.

Wrong place for this stuff. I have no need for religion or right-wing ideology with my modeling. It seems every forum or mailing list for this hobby is full of right wing religious zealots. Can't they just stick to talking about modeling????

I wonder if the kit will include Indy Pace Car decals. Speaking of a real wing, none of the pics I've seen recently of the '72 H/Os seem to show one.

It would take a lot of scratchbuilding. About the only kits I can think of as a starting point would be an MPC '71-76 Impala/Caprice (easily found as the AMT '76 Caprice reissue). The Caprice would have the correct windshield and similar chassis, though the wheelbase is shorter. Interestingly, there was a 1:43rd scale model made of this very subject...not sure who did it, but it was an expensive handbuilt (diecast, white metal, or resin, not sure) in the '90s..saw one once in dark red w/ a white top. By the way, that photo looks like a scene from near the end of the movie 'Casino'.

Yes, manufacturing in the US has been dying off for over 30 years, along w/ other 19th century industries like steelmaking and coal mining. The 21st century in the US is about technology and knowledge work...that's been where a lot of growth has been the last 15 years or so. I'm glad I went into software development after college rather than one of the 'old economy' career paths that have no future.

Good riddance...GM is better off without that lame brand of poseur bling trucks. Pontiac is the only GM brand I'm sad to see go this year.

The formal roof coupe was offered as a Hurst/Olds, though. The '72 H/O coupe would be a nice followup kit, that body was also used for the Cutlass Supreme. One thing I realized is this is the first full detail '68-72 GM A-body Revell has done in 1:25th (their other A-bodies are Monogram 1:24th tooling). I'd love to see them follow this up w/ a '71/72 Buick GS (or derive one from their 1:24th '70 GSX)....they were beautiful cars that have never been kitted. Just saw a sharp gray GS on the block at Barrett-Jackson on TV, made me think of this..

Way cool...maybe Fujimi will do a Ferrari 312B like that in 1:24th. In recent years, I've started getting into vintage race cars a bit.
