I'm 38... been building for about 30 years now. I credit my older brother (who built AMT annuals in the '60s) with getting me started, and my parents...my Mom helped me w/ painting for when I was a kid, and my Dad bought me some kits of cars he liked from his youth (Monogram 37 Cord, 41 Lincoln, for example). I grew up in a family of car nuts...we always had 5-6 Mustangs of all years, 2-3 early Cougars, the occasional GTO or Trans Am around the house.. I started collecting Hot Wheels and Matchbox as a kid, and subscribed to Car & Driver, Road & Track, and Hot Rod at age 7.

I have a strange idea..I don't know if it would fit, but it would be interesting to put one of these in a '60s Bonneville or Grand Prix for something different...

Sounds fun...I'm going to celebrate the cooler weather by taking a little road trip up into the mountains tomorrow...up to Sedona, Cottonwood, Payson..do a loop and then back to Phoenix.

The wheelbase is longer than the original Challenger, and also, I think the hood is shorter... it does look quite thick through the sides and from the rear, quite tall... but I like the styling overall, it stands out amongst the look-alike generic FWD cars that are so common today.. saw one in traffic last week, a black SRT8 with the plate 'NOT2GRN'....really stood out amongst the usual FWD sedans, SUVs, etc of a typical morning commute...

The Chrysler From Hell is Gone!

Yah... I definitely remember ice storms and other horror from my winters in NE Ohio, SE Michigan and one winter in Chicago.(the 12 winters in Colorado weren't really that bad).don't miss that... I guess the 5 months of heat is the trade off the great mild AZ winters. For 15 winters, I drove 4WD SUVs, but before that, had 6 winters in NE Ohio w/ a RWD car w/snow tires. Won't help in ice, though. My worst ice storm experience, though, was about 3 years ago, stuck on I-5 near Portland, Or in a Grand Prix rental...took me about 7 hrs to go 25 miles. -
It's been on CNN this morning... passed last night or this morning, apparently. Leaves behind quite a legacy in movies, racing, and charities..

Ah, I love F1...never boring... -
I like all the wheel choices... another wheel I've thought about using on a '68/69 Charger is the Kelsey-Hayes 'recall' wheel.

They do both versions, the Sky and Opel GT. And also the Solstice..I have all 3, pretty nice..with a little extra detail painting, they make nice shelf models.
-
Yes, I'd love to see more modern kits. Revell is doing a good job with Fords and Mopies, but there are a bunch of new GMs that would make great kits. There are nice 1:24th diecast of the Sky and Solstice from Maisto. I'd like to see the G8, '08 CTS, the CTS-v, the ZR-1, the '10 Camaro, the '10 CTS coupe and wagon all kitted.

winter is closing in....

Yes, I switched to a Mac Book Pro about a year ago...still have a Windows laptop, but the Mac is main machine... they are the best...rock solid, easy to use, more than powerful enough for what I need. They are expensive, but you get what you pay for. Speaking of 'winter closing in', here, it's the opposite---winter is is the nice time of the year, time to get outside. Summer in Phoenix is time to stay inside on the computer (or outside in the pool)....I'm looking forward to winter to spend more time outside, do grilling, etc.. -
I wonder what happened to the Lindberg..they had announced a couple other Dodge concepts also..haven't seen any release dates or anything about them..
-
I think I've seen resin '57 Buicks and Oldses, were there promos made of them back then? I recall a '56 Olds promo from Johan, but haven't seen '57s.
-
I had heard rumours about the Buick on another message board. I seem to recall rumours like this a few years ago involving Galaxie Ltd..that could be interesting..
-
I preordered one myself..their wasn't a choice of colors, so who knows if it will be Black, Orange, or Silver.. will be fun to have it arrive in the mail out of the blue!

Looks like an interesting kit. I wish RoG or someone would tool up a modern XK like this:

Ah, darn..I was in Pittsburgh a month too early...was back there and in E. Ohio visiting family over Labor Day weekend.
-

I have a lot of interests... car magazine collecting, diecast collecting (I have an extensive collection of Hot Wheels, Matchbox, Tomica, Siku, Johnny Lightning, Corgi, Greenlight, Dinky, etc), music (collecting CDs, going to concerts), movies, home theater, computers (since software engineering is my profession, it spills over into my free time), travel (reading about places to go, then going), dining out (not much of a cook, but I love to eat), and driving my 1:1 cars.

For the last 10 years, I've alternated between being self-employed (1099), having my own LLC for corp-to-corp contracts, doing W2 gigs through a contracting firm, and normal regular corporate employee... there are pros and cons to each type of arrangement... I do like W2 contracting for now as I don't have to do my own health insurance and payroll taxes, and still get a better hourly rate than I would with a normal salaried corporate cubicle dweller position.
