  1. The '60 Plymouth wagon was the first Jo-han kit I ever built, as a kid in 1978. A weird detail about that kit is it doesn't have inner fenders..open the hood and the front tires are visible.
  2. I have builds that I started in the late 80s and early 90s. And ones I built back then that need restored.
  3. I'd like to see the aftermarket make some grilles for the kit...the Revell grille is a bit generic.
  4. Partly sunny, humid and 82F outside..icky sticky with mosquitos. Good weather to stay inside w/ cold AC and do house stuff...
  5. This is supposedly the new box art. Just the same ol', same ol'. https://www.scalemates.com/kits/revell-14568-104-good-buddy--1593772
  6. Just a reissue of the 1981 Honcho 'Dude' issue looks like. https://www.scalemates.com/search.php?fkSECTION[]=All&q=revell+jeep
  7. It's sunny 75F and 46% humidity, with a slight breeze. Feels warmer. Went out at 4 to run an errand. A black car w/ black leather interior gets really warm sitting outside on such a day...
  8. That is curious they did the vinyl top for 1 year only. I checked my ‘66, ‘67 and ‘68 Riviera annuals and they are all smooth. The only ‘69 kits I’ve had are the Countdown Series
  9. Would be nice, but I assume the tooling was long modified for race only versions..has been reissued twice in this century-- 20 years ago IIRC in the box art below, and more recently in the Allison livery (in the last 10 years?)
  10. As an aside, a '38 Ford would make a great kit subject, IMO...always liked the front end styling of that year in standard and deluxe trim..
  11. The Countdown Series from the 70s did, I remember building one as a kid. Pretty sure the 1996 reissue did (was in the Countdown Series box art). Not sure what the 2005 issue came with, don't have that one.
  12. The '69 Riviera has been reissued several times over the years, the '68 was only in '68 I think.. looks like it's maybe been 20 years since the '69 was last out, definitely time for a Retro Deluxe issue which is what it sounds like is coming.
  13. Just a lazy way to churn out more variations of old kits... like the Coke licenses. IIRC, the nice 'Retro Deluxe' boxing of the '69 Cougar had some molded in red also.
  14. Probably aiming it at kids (65 yr old ones?) with the flashy Hot Wheels packaging...
  15. The Chevelle doesn't have a vinyl top or posable front wheels, so they are taking a bit of artistic license with the box art...these have all been reissued many times. Looking forward to the '60 Impala wagon, '65 Barracuda, '72 Duster and others.
  16. No, named after the IMSA racing category.
  17. They are electric. Does not appear to be fueling, only parked there
  18. Sad...went there about 15 years ago. Only been to the North Rim a couple of times, I've stayed at El Tovar at the South Rim a couple of times, probably been to the Grand Canyon South Rim a dozen times going back to 1981 when I first visited AZ as a kid (my older sister moved to Phoenix in '80 after getting married after college, I didn't move to Phoenix until 2008 but visited often in the 90s-00s...
  19. Nah, just an '80s Chevy step side that has been lowered and has larger wheels and tires.
  20. Thinking about a late model S550 Shelby GT500 or late model Cadillac CT5 V-series Blackwing.
  21. Never owned a turbocharged or supercharged car, but I have driven modern CUVs with tiny 4cyl turbos--my sister's Chevy Trax and Equinox, both had turbo 4s. Not performance cars, but decent point A to point B economy CUVs. Good gas mileage. A supercharged car may be in my future, though.
  22. Beautiful Cougar..reminds me a lot of my folks' '68...same color inside and out, theirs had a 302 2bbl w/ 3spd manual.. no power steering or power brakes! My Dad bought it in 1974, my Mom drove it a lot into the 80s. I drove it a few times after I got my driver's license. It wasn't driven much had under 100k miles, went to my older brother and then was auctioned off w/ his cars a few years ago after he passed. My Dad also had a '67 Cougar, 289 2bbl, 3spd manual, no power steering or brakes in Lime Frost. Unfortunately, that has been off the road for 40 yrs and has a lot of bondo. MY brother also had a '68 XR-7 in royal maroon w/ white top and white interior w/a. 390 4bbl and auto.
  23. Volvo has offered a 4cyl w/ both a turbocharger and a supercharger in recent years. Kind of an interesting idea.
