Working on the '49 Chevy 3100 Suburban Woody Hood '49 Chevy 3100 Suburban Woody Hood just a shade wide at the cowl One cut and it just about fits perfectly! A drop of AC & hold it together... Snugged right up... Pretty good fit, so far! A little feathering on the corners... And, we have a pretty good fitting hood! Don't you think or don't you? -KK

Spent a little more time on the chassis and this is where you find out the difference between box stock and resin cast... the latter is often times mm's thicker in places. Had to do a mock up... hadn't set it up with the work so far done: both comin' and goin'! Oops! Just noticed the engine hatch needs to be opened up, pretty soon! going to have to flip the deck over and go to work! the stops will have to be removed and replaced to get the hatch cur open from the inside: Stay tuned! This is going to a street rod show down south in April and RRR has challenged me to getting these done. -KK

Nice to see someone doing justice to an under appreciated Model A Roadster kits! Yea, I have a couple planned, but have yet to pull the trigger. RRR has pre-ordered 4 of the promised re-released roadster kits! So, until we get our hands on the new/old kit, I'll just be watching you finish yours! -KK

Martin, thanks for checking back... my '33 has been placed on the back burner so I could catch up on a speed boat I was starting for a modeling buddy. In the process of working on it, he took a pass on finishing it! And, of course I had to have a tow vehicle! (check out: '49 Chevy 3100 Suburban Woody "On The Workbench") I'll be getting back on the '33 later this spring. -KK

1932 Ford Chopped 4-Door Sedan Conversion
Kit Karson replied to Dennis Lacy's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Alright! I have always enjoyed watching your builds come together... your 1:1 hotrod knowledge translates so well in scale! This is exciting and so worth the wait! So far it reminds me of on of my all time favorite Chopped Mordor Deuce Sedans: Wait... there's one other, too: For some reason, I'm thinking yours is going to be hoodless... -KK -

RRR has overcome all the setbacks every builder suffers from to bring us another flawless Deuce! If I were to share with you some of the minor road blocks RRR was up against completing his Drag City Casting Mordor Sedan mastered by our own Dennis Lacy, you too would be astonished. When RRR & I first saw ADL's Mordor coming together, we all wanted to see how it would finally look assembled... ADL had a vision and carried it off well beyond our expectations! And, then RRR added his touches to it! But not after a few minor mishaps... RRR's paint job was interrupted by a fall from grace and had to be stripped and repainted! OUCH!! Still wet from the bath in the stripper pond! Then back on the bench for final reconstruction! Don't say anything to our Rockin' Rodney, but final assembly is NOT his favorite aspect in modeling building! His tenacity has always been that one asset that has always encouraged me through the three plus decades we've been watching each other create our model cars and trucks! Keep on keepin' on, Brother! -KK

Random thoughts...
Kit Karson replied to James2's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Been there... done that! Friendly builders, clubs and model magazines were all we had back in the day. On-line forums have become the norm and a great advent to the hobby! RRR & I met Dennis (ADL) on another forum years ago! We have been inspiring each other off line via texting and emails every since! We each have our own building styles, yet complement one and other on detail and many of the different aspects of the hobby! ADL has a great eye for the old school hot rods and RRR has blown both of us away with his rod & racer builds! We have enjoyed swapping ideas and techniques... and picking up on what others are doing in this forum and others, as well. FB has also been a resource, but has become way too political ;( More later!!! -KK -

From one ol' hot rodder to another... ADL you have a great eye for traditional hot rod style! And, the collective consensus tends to agree!! Keep on keepin' on, Brother! -KK -
RRR, this build totally blows me away, Brother! You really know how to capture this subject matter!! Love the Rivets!!! I don't know any builder that has the decal application ability that you possess! -KK
