  1. I have been scratch-building my first wheel this morning and I think that it looks OK. Not looking forward to the other three. Sure wish I would bite the bullet and try casting this. Oh well http:// http:// http:// I think once I paint it that it won't look too bad. I also decided to go ahead with the Tamiya Maroon. Once it dries it seems to match the maroon 41 Woody I found online. http:// http:// I got a bit of maroon over spray on the cargo floor that I'll need to touch up. I have been playing with some acrylic craft paint to do the wood framing on the body. Can't wait to start that. Thanks for checking in. Later-
  2. This is very cool and creative! Beautiful weathering. I'd love to build something in a similar vein someday. I have a ton of parts that are not particularly useful anywhere else. Later-
  3. Pretty Cool Dan! Can't wait to see the progress. Jon, Are we going to get to see what you got? Later-
  4. Start of the scratch built wheels. Not happy thinking that I have three more of these to lay out and cut four. http:// I bought some Tamiya Maroon last night to paint the body with but it is too purple for my liking. http:// I'll have to hunt for some other shade of maroon. Later-
  5. Got a couple of coats of paint on this morning. http:// http:// http:// http:// Later-
  6. Thanks. Mainly what I need is a good 1/25 (or close) train bell like is shown behind the front bumper of one of the photos I posted. I have something that I may be able to modify to work. I also need a few RR company logos like are on the door of the same pics. Something that would work in 1/25 scale. I imagine that I need two or three. I am going to try to make the wheels starting tomorrow. I have some sheet styrene that I think I can make work for the wheels. Later-
  7. I got stymied a bit. I stopped by the local train store and showed the owner my idea. He said that I would probably be looking for stuff in G scale and that he had nothing. Looks like l'll be scratch-building most everything I need. Oh well, won't be the first time. And i wouldn't be against being paired up again. Later-
  8. Take up crochet? Later-
  9. Small update. Got some paint down today. http:// http:// http:// Got the chassis and suspension painted also. Later-
  10. Thanks David. Just got another coat of primer on the body. Been focusing on the 41 Woody so this has become my fill in build. Later-
  11. Getting a bit of paint down today. Got the roof and interior floor painted in semi-gloss black from a distance to get a bit more of a textured appearance. Going with a utilitarian rubber floor mat rather than the carpeted floor. http:// http:// http:// I also got the chassis and suspension parts painted flat black. Not sure yet what color I will do the body in. I was thinking Gloss Black but that may end up being too much black. I may do it in a dark maroon or green. I'll decide after I visit the model train store and get ideas for paint colors of what ever railroad I model it after or do a fictional RR. Later-
  12. Anthony, Looking forward to your progress. Have you found any wood spoked wheels yet? Later-
  13. Randy, I didn't realize that model came with swivel seats!?!? Sorry, I hope that jab is not too early. I hope the scar has scabbed over by this point. I hate it when that happens. Years ago (2007) I was in the process of moving from Alaska to Washington state. I had just enough time to get a 2006 Mustang that I had highly customized painted in Tamiya Mica blue. It was the best paintjob I had done to that point. I let the paint gas out for a couple of days and then wired it down to the base of a plastic display case, put the top of the case on and securely strapped it to a steel plate for the drive down from Alaska. Once I got here I promptly put the entire thing on an upper, out of the way shelf in my garage until things from the move calmed down and I could get back to it. Four months later when I took it down the body was mangled. I'm still not sure if it was from the paint gassing out under a sealed cover or the heat of summer in an uninsulated garage. I was devastated. When I showed it to my wife she laughed and said that it looked as if miniature teenagers had stolen the car and run it into a telephone pole. Needless to say, I wasn't amused. I never did get back to that build. Just thought I would share one of my stories of destruction of a model. Again, sorry for your loss. Later-
  14. David, Good to see you are rolling on this. Can't wait to see the progress. Your ideas sound good. Later-
  15. Good to hear David. I look forward to seeing some work. Dud- Welcome! And thanks for tuning in. Later-
  16. Thanks David. Next is some primer and paint. I haven't seen anybody else's build threads on here yet. Later-
  17. Tonight's work. Not much done but this took a bit of time between phone calls. http:// I'll have to wait till I get back to my shop at work to prime and paint. It has been raining here all weekend. Not good for spraying in my uninsulated garage. Later-
  18. Tonight's work. Very tedious work so far. http:// I'm finally at a point where I have to prime and paint some parts before moving on. Unfortunately it has been raining here all weekend. My work will have to wait until I get back to my shop at work. Good night all. Later-
  19. Thanks guys. BTD- I have a sheet of Birch and a sheet of something darker. Not sure what it is. I am going to use the Birch. Later-
  20. Got some time in on mine tonight. Very small update on my link to the "workbench" on pg 2. Looking forward to everybody's updates. Later-
  21. Got some time at the bench tonight. Glued together most of the parts that needed assembled for painting. Seats, front and rear axle parts. The boring stuff for an update. But then, using the following picture as a loose guide I began the cow catcher. http:// http:// http:// And that's about it for the night. I'm hoping to spray some primer tomorrow on the body. Now it is off to bed. Got a busy day tomorrow. Thanks for looking. Later-
  22. Swiss Cheese anyone? http:// http:// Took a bit longer than I thought to get the last of the panels removed. Also did a bit on getting the hood to square up. Shaved down a bit of extra plastic on the cowl. Now to clean up and off to bed. Later-
  23. Got Dark Side of the Moon playing on the turntable and going to finish removing the "wood" panels. Then I'll probably start on the engine and some other bits. Later-
  24. Got Dark Side of the Moon on the turntable and going to finish removing the wood panels. Three more to go. Then I'll probably get started on the engine and a few other bits. Later-
  25. I like what you have done with this. Something new on an old style. Later-
