A buddy gave me a pack of new blades that X-Acto makes. They are just like #11's but the cutting edge has a gold tint to them. I can't remember the name (X-Acto Platinum or something). These blades stay sharper longer. I've had the same blade in now for about two weeks and it is still as sharp as day one. I think they're great, FWIW. I'm not sure if they are any more expensive than normal # 11's since they were given to my buddy and he gave me a pack. Try them out and see what you think. Later-

I'm sitting here trying to remove the center bullet from the 50 Ford convertible grille. I've gone through three in the last week. Does anyone make a resin grille for the 49 or 50 Ford car that doesn't have a center bullet? Any help? Later-

Simon- What a nice job on the details of this kit. That paint is as shinny as can be. Great job! BTW- It's nice to see that I'm not the ONLY one to buy a kit while on a family vacation to Disney World. Back in 2006 I bought a Tamiya Morris Mini kit at the Japan pavilion for $12.00. My wife gave me a hard time. I told her to buy the mementos of D.W. that she wanted and I'd buy the ones I wanted! Good Times. Good Times. LOL! Later-

Have you thought about doing a Steve Stanford rendering? http://image.hotrod.com/f/10301691+w750+st0/hrdp_0806_cool_10_z+slo_touring+monte_carlo.jpg http://image.hotrod.com/f/10301694+w750+st0/hrdp_0806_cool_12_z+monte_carlo+wagon.jpg http://image.hotrod.com/f/10301697+w750+st0/hrdp_0806_cool_11_z+drop_top+monte_carlo.jpg I really like all three and am wanting to build them myself. What a great build of a beautiful car. Welcome back. I only have one critique, if I may, See how your headlights are white? Next time try some Elmer's glue gel. It comes in the same type of bottle as their white school glue but it is either clear blue or clear purple (I've seen both). It dries clear so that the headlight lens doesn't turn white. It looks a lot more realistic. And is cheap! Again, great build. I'm still waiting to build mine. Later-

What's the latest word on a release date for these (stock or T.F.)???? Later- -
Dave- It turned out beautiful. I'm sure your wife will love it. (If I'm not mistaken you said you built it on her request). I really love the colors and the custom touches. BTW- Did you still decide to mail that stock seat? Later-

I love it! Send it to me. I'll give it a good home. Later-

Nice work mating all of this together. Sure doesn't look easy. I say a nice stock color like the early 80's Maroon and ten hole rims. Make it look stock. Later-

My friend also gave me this book: It has some nice reference photos for a car similar to the 55 Chrysler 300. It was called the A600. I may try to do a replica of it when they FINALLY come out with the 300. Chassis shots: Daytona shot: 300 assembly shots: Sorry for all the photos. Later-

34 Ford Pickup: It has interesting hubcaps. Does anyone know if these came in the original kit or are they from another kit? Are they custom or are they a stock cap? I've never seen them before. More in the next post. Later-

I was given these by an older friend of mine who built these YEARS ago, he said. He had a few other built models (36 Ford roadster, and others) that he told me he intended to rebuild some day. I told him that if he ever wanted to get rid of them to call me. 30's Hubley die-cast Taxi More in next post. Later-

1949 Mercury Project - Update April 27 2012
Modlbldr replied to Luis Ayala's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Luis- This is looking fantastic. I like the work that you have done so far. You have your work cut out for you on this one. Do you have any links to the restoration work of the 1:1? I am looking for interior shots of a stock 49-50 Mercury. It seems that everything I find is either customized (as most of these have been over the years) or artists drawings of Merc ads from back then. I have yet to find any photos of completely stock 49-50Mercs. Keep it up and I'll be watching your great progress. Later- -
