  1. Made some good progress tonight. Busted out the portable spray booth and got the final coats on the body and painted the chassis. I need to clear coat it now. Then I got out the Molotow chrome and brushed some of the suspension parts. Also, upon further inspection of my kit and parts that I bought off of a friend, I realized that I am missing the rear half (the resonators) of the exhaust system. But, Sam I Am is stepping up with the parts I need. Thank you! So, for now I am at another stand still. Later-
  2. I got a built up J 2000 to see how it would work using the chassis and suspension on the Nova. Pic #1 and #2- It was narrower and shorter than I thought it would be (just as one person on this site said it would be). So, I got an unbuilt 55 Chevy Pro Sportsman kit in the mail yesterday to see how it would look. This morning I got up early. I made coffee before my wife and the dog got up and sat down for about 40 minutes to begin working on it (you know- the peaceful part of the day) Here is what I found. Pic #3 and #4-The 55 floor pan is about 1/8 inch wider and it will need some removed behind the rear wheels. Also looks like I may need to lengthen the floor a bit to get the fire wall where it needs to be. Probably as much mods needed for the 55 as for the J 2000 but the 55 has much more detail. Pic #5 and #6-With a bit of eyeballing, some measuring, cutting and sanding I started making progress. Then my wife got up.... oh well, time to get the dog up and start my day. Later-
  3. Sounds like a blast! I'd be too tempted to want to take everything on the table home with me though. Love digging through parts boxes for treasure. Later-
  4. I like this. A lot of great looking mods your doing. I'll be keeping an eye on this. Later-
  5. My older brother and I made builds like this all the time. We had a huge box of leftover parts that we would rummage through parts for our project. I remember a 55 Chevy and I was missing the hood ornament. I dug through the box until I found a tiny airplane from an aircraft carrier model. It was a bit out of scale but looked almost identical to the real hood ornament. We used pieces of plastic bread ties as lift blocks under the leaf springs or axles to lift the suspensions. One time we built a rail dragster and instead of putting a rear wing on it we put a rear seat from a car on the uprights to give it a place for passengers to sit. Yep, to be a kid again!! Later-
  6. Post a pic here. Would love to see it. Later-
  7. I like the sleek look of that. What roof did you say that was? Later-
  8. Thanks guys! I just wetsanded the body again in preparation for another (and hopefully final) coat of paint. Also washed the frame to try and get paint on it tomorrow Later-
  9. Here is the ride height. Wheels are just white glued on and the rears didn't get glued in the center of the axle so they look like they are too far back. I like the ride height though. Later-
  10. Spent some time working on this tonight while on Zoom with Sam I Am. Didn't get a lot done but had a blast catching up with a buddy! The suspension is ironed out. Took a lot of cut and paste. The wheels are just white glued in place to see how it is going to sit. Not much progress, but progress none the less. Going to a show on May 14th so I need to get this done by then. Later-
  11. Definitely looks much better tucked in. Going to be a pretty short axle but they managed it in 1:1. Nice looking paint too. Later-
  12. Trying to get the hang of soldering. It may not look good but I'm having a lot of fun. I figured out that if I cover the previous solder joints with poster tack I don't have problems with them coming undone while soldering the next area in such close proximity. If you do any soldering with brass, how do you keep the heat from undoing your work? Since this is a new venture for me I'm curious to hear any tricks. Later-
  13. Got the hood sanded out and I switched over to soldering brass together for the framework. Going to be a chore but I think I'll enjoy it. Haven't soldered anything major before. Later-
  14. I managed to finish the one I had started back on page 1 back in Jan 2019. Don't remember if I ever put the photos up on this site. Love many of these displayed here. Later-
  15. Cool! Glad I can help. Let me know if you need better pics of the article. I saw this in the mag years ago and was amazed by it. Glad I kept the mag all these years. Later-
  16. Thanks. I appreciate it. No decals needed. Later-
  17. Looking for a complwte chassis/suspension or complete kit of the Pro Street Beretta, 57 Soff Seal Chevy, 55 Pro Sportsman, Hot Rod Lincoln, or the Dobbertin J 2000 to use as a start for the cage and suspension. Couldn't sleep tonight so I did some work on the hood. Now I'm ready for sleep while the putty dries. Later-
  18. I think any one of those would work as a good starting point. Now to do some looking. Been getting some work done on the hood tonight. Later-
  19. I was wondering about that Beretta kit. Now if I could just get wrenchr to trade me the one he just bought. Lol! Anybody got one they want to trade away? Later-
  20. I like it! Looking forward to your progress. Later-
  21. Very nice looking! That's going to look great when it's finished. I'm working on a 67 Impala lowrider that I painted the same color. Later-
  22. Thanks. I'm not sure about the PS Nova chassis. I took some close up photos of the chassis and cage in the article. It is going to be a chore to build something close so looking for something that has a good start for me. Later-
  23. Great price! I had one when I was much younger too. Would love to find one. Later-
