Oh, that extra window trim work looks great! Can't go wrong by following Mr. Boutte's lead. He does great work. Yours is following that pattern well. Later-

Thanks Dann! I managed to get the interior parts primed and got the body painted in the Tamiya Light Gunmetal. Now to find some acrylic Oxblood red paint soon for the interior. Of course, I managed to lose one headlight and bucket. Later-

84 GMC custom widebody
Modlbldr replied to Modlbldr's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Thanks fellas. Got a bit more work done on sanding out the tops of the front fenders and filling in the gaps on the rears. Nothing much picture worthy. Later- -
I've been working a bit on this idea of widening the fenders of this squarebody. I was curious to see what it looked like. The rear fenders are wide enough now that I don't need to widen the wheel wells in the bed. I will need to raise or remove the tops in order to lower the bed. But, at least this way, I won't have to cut up the bed floor details. I'll be making a custom frame and suspension for this. Any comments or criticisms welcomed. Later-

Yesterday's modelling day- Got the interior parts of my VW primed and I did a bit more work on an idea of widening the fenders on a 84 squarebody GMC pickup, just for fun. Not sure how that's going to turn out. I bent the ends of the fender cut outs and added a strip on each end. The pieces are just sitting in place on the last photo. They won't flare out that much. Thanks. I'd love to see pics of that engine...and the car. Later-

Thanks guys! David- I used the "tape as a guide" method. Works very well for me. Francis- Thanks. I did scribe out the door lines a bit. I'm going to have to mix some of the green with a little black and flow it in the lines. I had a drop of Molotow silver fall on the window frame and it "chromed" my door opening on the driver's side..... Thanks Jim. I love your work. Later-

Thanks Fellas! I appreciate it. I have a couple more parts box builds planned but from a different era. Later-

Beautiful work Ray! Love the color. Later-

Got quite a bit done today over the span of the whole day. Tried flattening out the chassis plate on my VW (eBay started project) by adding small pieces in the center console to cause it to lengthen and push it flatter. I believe it worked enough. Got a second coat of Silver barrier on the body and it is in the dryer. Tonight I cleaned up flash off of interior parts and got a couple of the resin wheels cleaned up. Later-

Yeah, it has its issues, but I'm liking it so far. Not looking to do a highly detailed build. That's why I'm skipping the motor in it. I already glued the lid shut. Later-

What are those roofs from anyway? Later-

Wow!!! Stunning! I like all of the work you did. And not just on one, but three. Great builds. Later-

I got a primer coat of white on the body and then a barrier coat of Silver. I then sanded it with 3600 grit and shot another coat of Silver. Letting it dry before another sanding to smooth it out. I soon found out that the chassis pan was warped. Not sure if it was from the floor pan being warped or the center console warped and pulling the floor pan out of shape. What you see of the build progress is the way I got it from eBay. So, I flattened it on my desk and it cracked the console. By filling the crack with sheet plastic, it straightened most of the warp. I think from here glue will hold it flat once all put together. Going to just have fun with this one (I hope!) Later-

I picked this started project up off of eBay recently for $16 shipped. Not a bad deal. I found a pic on line of what I want to build. I think what drew me into this 1:1 was the mirrors on the fenders. Anywho- planning on Tamiya Light Gunmetal exterior and, perhaps, an Oxblood red interior. I'll be doing this one as a curbside. I picked up some resin wheels from Fink's Garage. I think I'll be going with the ones on the left. More to come. Later-

Now that I finished my Roadster Pick up and got the paint I needed I'm back to work on this one. I got the body misted with Testors White Lightning and got the BMF on yesterday. This morning I began the clear coat. Not much else left on this one. I'll let it dry for a couple of days and then wet sand and a couple more coats of clear. Later-

That turned out to be a stunner! Love the color combo. Makes me want to dig mine out. Later- -
Thanks guys! Al, that's kind of what I thought it turned out like too. A home built hotrod. Steve, I didn't even put a dent in even one of them. Lol. Later-

Thanks guys! Paul- The gauges come from the 62 Corvette Glasses Gasser version. Took parts of two sets. I didn't realize till now how poorly they fit in the PE dash panel. Oh well. Later-

Thanks. I've always wanted to include one in a build but this is the first one I've done. I've only seen it one other time on a model. Later-

I built this using all parts from my parts boxes. Nothing fancy or highly detailed. It reminds me of just a nice, home built hotrod. Glad to get it off the bench and in the cabinet. It is my fifth finished project for the year. Now back to my mild custom 41 Plymouth. All comments and criticisms welcomed. Later-
