  1. I have the Nomad in my collection waiting to be built. I can remember the 56 being quite tedious with all the separate chrome trim bits. I could never quite master the "gluing without smearing" thing trying to attach them.
  2. I see the nitpickers and spelling police were on the thread in force.
  3. Lotta Mopars on yer block, Zukaholic! My muscle car faves are 68 or 69 Buick GS, 68 or 69 Beaumont SD(Canadian Muscle), 57 Rebel ( a very fast car which some say was one of the first muscle cars), 70 Rebel Machine! Ford Torino of most years.
  4. This thread is "ribbiting"
  5. Thanks for the offer, but I already ordered the new kit. I figured assembling the tire to the wheel would be the better thing to do as an afterthought. Gotta love 20-20 hindsight. The tires themselves are OK and can be cleaned up. I need a new wheel and another set of decals. But I will try the sol and set. I already have the Microset and it already does a good job of softening the decals, just don't adhere well to the tires.
  6. Maybe the reason the Terrible Towels did not work was they are actually manufactured in...wait for it...here it comes...BARABOO, WISCONSIN!!!!
  7. I am building a F1 car for a client. (I'll never do another where I have to decal tires) How do you decal the tires? Decals do not stick to tire material. I even tried to clear the tires with Tamiya clear and applied the decal to that, then dull coated the decal and tire. As I was pushing the wheel into the tire, the paint cracked and chipped off and it left a real nasty looking tire. Also ruined the decal underneath during the process and cracked the spokes of the wheel trying to remove the wheel. So now I have ordered another F1 just for a wheel and decals and new tires. There goes my profit margin LOLZ. The kit in question is the Revell of Germany F1 2007 Ferrari. The wheels seem ill fitting at best.
  8. Seein pics of #1010, I wonder why the body # is 1013?
  9. That kind of bothered me as well, but I have never been disappointed in whatever I bought from them. I can assure you that their chrome bits are very nice and often better than the original kit item they based it on. In kits, you usually have mold lines and flash to deal with and the Modelhaus version has that all cleaned up. With exception of complete mastered kits, most of what they have is based off parts from plastic kits.
  10. You can see that during any Milwaukee Brewer home game. We have racing sausages, a brat, a keilbasa, an Italian and a Chorizo!
  11. Yes, thinner will pretty much dissolve the chrome. I guess the suggestions for using that product wasn't thinking someone might use the technique on chrome.
  12. I hope that 40 Sedan delivery you ordered isn't the one they redid into a goofy looking "lights on the top of fender" RIDES issue.
  13. Nice Jaguar, Sergey. One question: I would like to see 1/25th scale kits of Russian cars. I was just wondering why no such thing is made. A lot of aviation and military stuff from Russia, but no cars except for the 1/35th scale stuff from WWII and the Revolution.
  14. What are you using for the mask? Try Tamiyas tape or there is a similar tape used by the body shop people that is cheaper. I've use bare metal foil with good success. I even used Press and Seal wrap for large areas.
  15. Since I worked in printing once, I knew what stripping meant, but you guys just had to go there. I't's OK braddah Gregg, MCM is da kine.
  16. Actually, since Milwaukee is close by (it's a draw for people going shopping) and Muskego has a new Wal-Mart, we have three hardware stores in our town. When I need some little widget to fix a running toilet or dripping faucet or some electrical goodies, I go to the True Value, we also have an Ace and an independent hardware shop. In fact, the Ace is building a new shop right next door to the new Wal-Mart. See, businesses of different sizes can compete and coexist in the same area. muskego is around 20,000 people. We even have a Bumper To Bumper, NAPA, and an Autozone. They are national brands but locally owned. The brands offer purchasing power for the operator. With the exception of the Autozone, they all seem to have full parking lots. We even have Kohl's here which is nationally known but is a Wisconsin owned company.
  17. Oh yes, the Frontenac. That was kind of cool with that distinct grille design.
  18. Goods were already being outsourced before Wal-Mart. I try to buy US made things, but when the choice isn't available, I might shop Wal-Mart if my local store won't or doesn't carry it. I live 18 miles outside of Milwaukee, and I rarely go there. Unless I need something the shops in my town don't have. Then I tend to shop local owned businesses, like my LHS. As for jobs, my sister works at Wal-Mart and gets decent pay, bennies and all that. Blame the actual companies for outsourcing like Rival, West Bend, GE Medical Systems, the electronics makers, clothing makers, small engine manufacturers, model cars, et cetera. People will still need some of the products and buy them regardless if Wal-Mart or the local appliance, hardware, hobbyshop or clothing store sells them. There are many things that we still make here, but it's a lot of heavy machinery kinds of things. BTW, there are websites devoted to USA made goods. You can research the products yourself and make you're own decision. US things I own are: Sonic speakers New Balance shoes Ultimate speaker stands Mackie mixer amp American DJ CD player plus a lot of other things I own like Lindberg kits...US made!!! The engine in my HHR Panel truck is made in New York (truck made in Mexico), which is still better than the Turkish made Ford Transit connect.
  19. You have to remember, that to the liberal mind set, selling goods inexpensively to lower income people and making money at the same time is considered "ripping off". They believe that "the poor" should get it for free.
  20. Hehehehe. My nephew who lives in Phoenix, was up visiting here in Wisconsin last week and kept complaining about the cold and couldn't wait to get back to Arizona. Ha! I hope he is likng that "nice" weather there now. All I can say to him is neener neener neener!!!
  21. And wasn't the Monarch a brand sold by Ford of Canada? I love Canadian Cars.
  22. You can come up here to Wisconsin and play in some serious snow. We had almost 20 inches dropped on us from that same storm system that hit Texas.
  23. That's why when starting a business, you should just offer your services to the wealthy. No one ever got rich selling to the poor...well...except maybe Wal Mart.
  24. Interesting thing, I went to see the site and found my town on the list.
