  1. Ya know, I've never seen MCM late at my hobby shop, and I'm thinking of subscribing too. I'm thinking it's a Postal issue myself. This is not an issue of getting paid late or getting slow service at the doctor...it's a freakin' hobby magazine.
  2. You should stay off "those" web sites. That's where malware comes from .
  3. Demographics being what they are, I would say that model car hobby is more for us older types. Yes kids get into the hobby but are more into the instant gratification types of activities like video games or even sports. The CARS movie appealed to a wide age group from kids to adult. There were really cool inferences to the age group that would actually enjoy the movie. I don't think kids would understand the whole "Filmore and his organic fuel" and his respecting the classics comment toward Sarge... "Hendrix man, respect the classics". My whole car club consisting of 40 to 70 year old people got to go to an advance screening just for us when it came out...no kids in the audience.
  4. I can recommend a great divorce attorney for ya!
  5. What/ ya couldn't move up to Wisconsin where it's cheaper? LOLS
  6. Tamiya also has very nice model paints in spray and bottles.
  7. I thought JFK was transported in a 63 Pontiac hearse owned by the Navy.
  8. Didn't Andy Granatelli have a line of parts for the Stude engine? Over on the HAMB, there is a lot of comments on how the Studes were rodded, even with Stude engines. The cars also enjoyed a lot of swaps from other makers, the most popular being Cadillac. Caddies had similar dimensions and somewhat resembled Studebaker engine design. Simple mods to a Caddy intake would get you the ability to use a four barrel carb.
  9. Then it's on your end, because I see it fine. It's Rammstein.
  10. Really nice looking Olds there. I like it.
  11. I don't think the body design was based on a Mack truck. I think it was more of a take off of the early Renaults.
  12. Very nice model. I enjoyed the video, even the music...and I'm a 56 year old codger.
  13. Verry good.
  14. You should put this build thread over on the H.A.M.B. Faith Grainger is a poster there and I am sure she would love to see the build progress.
  15. I just read all 15 pages of the bloviating going on here. Wow. As a car show artist, I've drawn Hudsons. I've sat for a couple of hours staring at one with pencil in hand. Really cool cars. I'm buying the kit when it comes out, maybe several.
  16. Depends on the brand of beer...oh, you meant model kits.
  17. That Caddy really looks nice, ajulia.
  18. I see you are Canadian but you don't mention the area you live in. Find a local Hobby Shop or a Micheals (craft store), Meijers or similar place. You can find all kinds of detailing supplies outside of the normal model car realm in these stores like little tiny chains or wires. There is even a Martha Stewart brand of flocking that will look good as carpeting material and is cheap. There are a lot of online stores also. I can say just by looking through this forum, you will find links to suppliers of kits, parts, resin bodies and all that. Ebay does have a goodly supply of kits to bid on, but older kits can get into "stupid money". If you can find a model swap meet event near you, that is a good place to stock up on kits, built-ups, parts and other stuff. On this and other forums, just ask people how they did a particular thing you'd like to try. Using the search function will get you to threads on basic how tos. Kalmbach Publishing has several books about detailing model cars and weathering them too as this would be perfect for pick up building.
  19. Do Want!!! I got an HO scale F7 non-powered A unit from the GF and a wireless mic set up plus a boom mic stand from the GF's kids.
  20. No technique really great. If I encounter some flash on chrome I slice as much off with a sharp #11 blade, then dab a bit of chrome silver on the removed seam or sprue divot. Seams can only be sanded smooth and replated by a firm like Chrome-Tech or be Alcladed
  21. http://www.japanesenostalgiccar.com/forum/index.php?sid=69784735ef45ede4f8c0000df8f81450 This site has a lot of older Japanese car enthusiasts on it.
  22. Any of the Renwal 66 revivals, although they usually could be found at about $75 to $100. 1968 GTO from MPC 1933 Chevy panel from MPC ZZR Spy car
  23. Lordairgtar is pretty much it. Except on a local 1:1 car sdite where it is Mistergrouch because after a server mishap, I couldn't go back to my most used name. So, I'm addressed as lord, lordy or LAG in most places when spoken to online.
