At the AMG meeting last Friday, I sold some extra stuff I had but someone brought in some random bits and said they are free. I wound up with a nice build up unpainted original issue Hubley Rolls Royce. It's the same as the Minicraft kit but the molds haven't gone to pot yet. It will be converted into a street machine Bentley that I see around here. I also grabbed the Premier 1960 Rambler which I believe was 1/32nd scale. This is a built up but will be made into slot car. I got a 64 Thunderbolt sealed kit I traded someone for with a built up Cobra in original box. I also picked up the 1960 Ford Sunliner convertible resin body for free.

We had a model swap meet in South Milwaukee. It's usually small and consists of mostly sellers buying from other sellers. I was able to score a built up TR7 Triumph kit in yellow plastic, a 1/32nd scale Nova from Monogram I think. Very nicely done, painted nice and BMFed. I just have to paint the firewall. It will just go into the cabinet on display, it's that nice. I also got a PYRO 1/25th scale Volkswagen kit...multi piece body in glorious orange/peach plastic. Monogram 41 Lincoln, Monogram Rolls Royce, Nissan Skyline 4 door from the 60s. Nice haul, IMO.

Thanks guys. Lots of success it seems with all of you. Good going! When a person weighs as much as I do, the difference is hard to see. At least I feel it when I drive the car as my stomach doesn't touch the steering wheel anymore. I always had that tell tale smudge on my shirts where the wheel rubbed...no longer. It's funny how some of the morons from my old neighborhood have offered me "drugs" to help with my weight loss. Really? Don't do me any favors LOLZ. That's the crowd I no longer associate with, thank God.

This morning I weighed myself. Over three years ago I started trying to lose weight and I weighed 476 lbs. I now weigh 378 lbs. Two more to go and I reach the first goal of 100 lbs. So what do I eat tonight...two big helpings of spaghetti...buuuuuurrrrp! I am not on any particular diet, I just walk and eat less than I used to. I walked more when I had a dog, but I have to force myself to go out and walk it off now.

Does anyone make a sedan body to be used with the AMT 34 Ford?
-
They both have round wheels. LOL I recall early Ford trucks using the name F-1, kinda similar to F1

I lived in Santa Barbara and can relate to the Goleta label. Those racks are just like the real ones I remmember my grandfather put on his 1960 Buick leSabre when we went camping. Are they scratch made? After market? Your model is very very cool.

The car that got me out of modeling

I have the Nomad in my collection waiting to be built. I can remember the 56 being quite tedious with all the separate chrome trim bits. I could never quite master the "gluing without smearing" thing trying to attach them. -

F1 tire decal trouble
lordairgtar replied to lordairgtar's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thanks for the offer, but I already ordered the new kit. I figured assembling the tire to the wheel would be the better thing to do as an afterthought. Gotta love 20-20 hindsight. The tires themselves are OK and can be cleaned up. I need a new wheel and another set of decals. But I will try the sol and set. I already have the Microset and it already does a good job of softening the decals, just don't adhere well to the tires. -

Maybe the reason the Terrible Towels did not work was they are actually manufactured in...wait for it...here it comes...BARABOO, WISCONSIN!!!! -
I am building a F1 car for a client. (I'll never do another where I have to decal tires) How do you decal the tires? Decals do not stick to tire material. I even tried to clear the tires with Tamiya clear and applied the decal to that, then dull coated the decal and tire. As I was pushing the wheel into the tire, the paint cracked and chipped off and it left a real nasty looking tire. Also ruined the decal underneath during the process and cracked the spokes of the wheel trying to remove the wheel. So now I have ordered another F1 just for a wheel and decals and new tires. There goes my profit margin LOLZ. The kit in question is the Revell of Germany F1 2007 Ferrari. The wheels seem ill fitting at best.

Seein pics of #1010, I wonder why the body # is 1013?

That kind of bothered me as well, but I have never been disappointed in whatever I bought from them. I can assure you that their chrome bits are very nice and often better than the original kit item they based it on. In kits, you usually have mold lines and flash to deal with and the Modelhaus version has that all cleaned up. With exception of complete mastered kits, most of what they have is based off parts from plastic kits.

You can see that during any Milwaukee Brewer home game. We have racing sausages, a brat, a keilbasa, an Italian and a Chorizo!
