Not an Iso A3/C
Dave B replied to Dave B's topic in WIP: Other Racing: Road Racing, Land Speed Racers
Ok, I'm a happy little vegemite, I've just finished what I always thought would be the hardest part of this build. Still lots to do but it's downhill from here. Thanks for your encouragement guys. Dave B -
Not an Iso A3/C
Dave B replied to Dave B's topic in WIP: Other Racing: Road Racing, Land Speed Racers
Just been trial fitting the interior, rear shelf and newly vacformed rear window. All looks good so I'll be epoxying the rear shelf in and working on the brake ducting and fuel pipe. Tks for your comments. Dave B -

That's an awesome build Rich. MFH do beautiful kits but I have yet to shout myself one. So many too choose from and so little time (literally speaking) Tks for sharing. Dave B -

Michael, yes a lot of work but I enjoy it. Dave, my mate also has a resin printer and we are looking at buying another higher resolution one. The resin does give you better details etc but he has yet to master it and I enjoy working in filament, it's a lot like styrene and my MEK works as a glue on it. Dave B -
Fangio's Lancia D24
Dave B replied to Dave B's topic in WIP: Other Racing: Road Racing, Land Speed Racers
Still working on the rear guard of the Iso so I'm doing a bit more on the D24. I decided I would redo the scoop on the drivers side guard so I have sanded the existing one off and made a buck out of icecream sticks, shaped it and vacformed it. Two different sizes so tonight I'll have a play. Tks for looking Dave B -

Hi Noel, the wires are made in Korea by KA Models. They are beautiful, 5 layers of photo etch with machined aluminium hub and polished rim. I bought mine from BNA Model World in Aus. Dave B -
My mate showed me a 3D file site that was having a sale. Looking through it I found one of my favourite 50's sports cars, the Lancia D24. I did the obvious thing and asked him to buy the file for me and print me one. Here it is with the photo etched wires I have been sitting on waiting for an appropriate model, they're a tad too wide but the care factor is low!! Anyway I shall be working on this while finishing the 'not an Iso A3/C' (actually it is) which is convenient as, while painting the red on the Iso I noticed a split in the filament in the rear guard so it will need a little work. Tks for looking. Dave B

Not an Iso A3/C
Dave B replied to Dave B's topic in WIP: Other Racing: Road Racing, Land Speed Racers
I've finally got the body about where I want it and thought I had finished the interior when I noticed the rear parcel shelf should be flat. Remade that and have decided to leave it separate to enable fitting the brake ducts under the rear window. Have vacformed the glass and should be ready to assemble shortly. Dave B -

Not an Iso A3/C

Gary, it came with a flat printed chassis that I may be able to use otherwise it will be aluminium printers plate that I tend to use on all my kerbsides. Dave B -

Got the body close to where I want it, modified the dashboard to reflect the car I'm building and have been working on the moulds for the glass I'll need to vacform. Dave B -

That's a great build Rich, I must get on with my Interserie 917 BUT you have raised the bar with the wiring. I wasn't even considering it!! Dave B -

Dave B replied to Dave B's topic in WIP: Other Racing: Road Racing, Land Speed Racers
Ok, rightly or wrongly I have inscribed the panel lines, opened a few more vents and generally started tidying the body up but there is a lot more to do. I have also started the interior which I received last night. It came with a standard late model dashboard but I am now able to correct to reflect the car I'm building. Tks a lot Tom. So, no pressure then, I'll just get on with it. Dave B -

Looking forward to seeing it Rich. Mine has stalled at the moment, working on the 'not an Iso A3/C'. Dave B -
Looks the real deal to me, that's a great build. bisc63, Hasegawa do a beautiful 1/24 version. Dave B

Whilst building my Interserie 917 my mate turned up with a Bizzarrini 5300GT. It's a filament print, which I prefer while he sorts out his resin printer. The following week he turned up with some resin printed wheels. Just as well because I won't build a model unless I can get the wheels right, tks Phil Anyway with a little work and a dig in my box of resin bits and pieces I have finished the wheels/tyres. The body will take a little longer!! It will be built as the class winning Le Mans '65 car. Tks for looking. Dave B
