Gone off on a tangent as usual. Because the engine is reasonably detailed I decided to try and remove the injection and replace with some nice chrome items. So far so good, now I just have to clean it all up. Dave B

Great build Michael, if mine turns out half as good I'll be happy. Lucky to have seen one run in anger at the Phillip Island historics some years back. Dave B -
There's an old adage "measure twice cut once" that could also apply to studying photos more closely and cutting once. As you can see from the amount of styrene I didn't take enough notice of the photos!! Never mind, I have the body sitting about right so it's time to sand and apply some primer. Summer over here so this could take a while. Dave B

Ok, with plenty of details at the rear I needed to separate the engine cover. With no body lines I've made the cut where I think it needs to be. Had to be careful because it's still a little brittle compared to plastic. As a resin print it has lots of supports I had to remove and that leaves lots of little resin pimples on the inside/underside. These have to be sanded off to allow a neat fit for the body. Sanded away all the excess resin and have a neat fit for the front half, now to mark and scribe the remaining body lines and fix up the crooked cut lines. If you're watching this watching grass growing could be more exciting!! Dave B

Hi Steve, It is a purchased 3D printable file. Mine is 1/24, approx, and resin printed. Phil is an old mate of mine (50+years) and has a number of filament and resin printers. Not sure how it was drawn but they generally have drawbacks, I'm sure the draftsperson has never built one of there files. Dave

Toyota-7: not a real WIP, but...

Helmut, I agree with Bill, this is going to be a great save. Looking forward to seeing your progress. Dave B -
This is take 2 on the Alfa. I initially bought a cheap file and got what I paid for. To top it off Phil had just started using his resin printer and was experimenting with resins, the result being an extremely brittle body, so much so I put it away. There was a sale recently and I took the opportunity to download a more detailed file. Phil has worked out a better resin mix so I've gone for it. Have two other builds on the go at the moment so progress will be slow. Tks for looking. Dave B

Love this car, built a 1/32 slot car using a resin body. Also like Profile 24 but they aren't cheap. Better look for a download file!! Will be following this build. Dave B -

Unfortunately guys it looks like you're right. The windscreen posts are too upright but I doubt I'll be correcting them as resin is a little more fragile than plastic and it would also mean redoing the door window frames. As for the nose I'm happy with the short nose version, it pretty much replicates the car I saw race at Longford back in the day. It was old english white back then and was very successful for a short period of time. Dave B
