  1. That's a magnificent build Chris, as all your builds are. I'm not game enough to tackle a 1/12 MFH as I don't think I could do it justice!! Dave B
  2. Tks guys, Gary, the wheels are from the Hasagawa Testa Rossa. Pat, 1/24th Scale. Jim, Hobart Tasmania Australia Dave
  3. First of all I would once again like to thank my old mate Phil for the filament printed body and our friend Vlad for the file. This is my take on DBR1/2 as raced at the Tourist Trophy at Goodwood in 1959. Originally driven by Shelby/Fairman it was subsequently taken over by Moss and driven to victory. The same car also won Le Mans 1959 (Shelby/Salvadori) and finished 2nd in the 1959 International Trophy at Silverstone (Moss) making it possibly the most famous of the DBR1's and instrumental in Aston Martin winning the Sports Car World Championship. The wheels are from the Hasegawa TR59 (TR59 kit was fitted with Hasagawa's photo etched wires) and all the other parts I did in resin from my stash. Paint is an auto acrylic mix I did and clear coated and the clear parts were vacformed by me. Urethane tyres and decals are also from Phil. Thanks for looking. Dave B

  13. Ok, now I have finished the Maserati 300S I had planned to restart on the Alfetta 159 however my friend Vlad has sent me a file for the '59 DBR1 so that has moved to the top of the list. My mate Phil has printed it and here it is. I am going to build it as the '59 Tourist Trophy winning car that was taken over by Moss, went on to win, and secured the Sports Car World Championship for Aston Martin. Wish me luck. Dave B
  14. That's a very nice build Ismael, it's easy to see how much work you have put into it. Tks for sharing. Dave B
  15. That's a great build Bruce. Modern racers don't do a lot for me but that looks really good. Thanks for sharing. Dave B
  16. I have finally completed my all time favourite front engined sports racer. For this I have to thank Vlad for the file and Phil for printing it for me. #3055 was a factory team car and was shipped to Australia by the factory to race at Albert Park in the 1956 Australian Tourist Trophy. Driven by Jean Behra it finished 2nd to Stirling Moss in the other Factory 300S #3059. It was then purchased by Doug Whiteford and during his 3 year custodianship it became the most successful sports racing car in Australia. I saw this car race multiple times at Longford race track in Tasmania and being aged 8, 9 and10 years old respectively it made a lasting impression on me!! The model represents the car a raced at Longford in 1959, the photo in the background of one of the shots shows Behra at Albert Park. Apart from the photo etched spokes (Herb Deeks), the bonnet/boot latches (Profil 24) and the tyres (urethane, tks Phil) all the other parts were either cast or vac formed by me. The car is finished in an auto acrylic mix and clear coated, decals are by Patto & Phil. The second image shows what I started with. Tks for looking Dave B
  17. Great build Rich, I have always liked the look of this car but never got around to buying the kit, although a mate has one I could probably get. Dave B
  18. I have been busy with the 300S. I have the body about ready to paint and have modified my generic 50's sports car transmission tunnel and seats to more reflect the 300S. I still have a bit to do like the dashboard, etc buy I imagine the next time I post will be as a finished sports racer. Tks for looking Dave B
  19. Looking good Ismael, the basic kit is quite good considering it's age. I have a number of built Merit kits with Herb Deeks wires, where appropriate. Dave B
  20. Great build Chris, I bet the real one never shone like that. Tks for sharing. Dave B
  21. That looks really good, nice build Pierre. I have built Fujimi's 917 and personally I did not find the rear framework easy. Dave B
  22. It may not look it just yet but I have been very busy working on 3055, as opposed to my Alfetta 159! I have scribed the boot, door and boot lines, corrected the head rest, opened the openings in the boot for fuel & oil caps, added the four bonnet vents and the NACA style vent, finally had a go at making and installing the side vents and drilled the tiny holes for the photo etched bonnet and boot release clips. The side vents are not perfect but with a little more work will look OK. Have made the photo etch wires using Herb Deeks spokes and my own resin cast rims and urethane cast tyres. They look almost as good as those on the 450S although they are Hasegawa and superior. Tks for looking Dave B
  23. That's a great kit from Indycals Thomas, it's a pity I'm building the 159, the supercharger is quite different. Dave B
  24. That's a great build Giovanni, tks for sharing. Bet the real one never looked that good. Dave B
  25. Great looking build Rich, missed out on that one from Paul unfortunately!! Dave B
