Maserati A6GCS Spyder
Dave B replied to absmiami's topic in WIP: Other Racing: Road Racing, Land Speed Racers
Hi Andrew, I haven't followed this thread for a while and given I love Maserati's I'm not sure why. I love that most of your construction is in styrene and this should inspire me to try harder on some of my future resin kits. Tks Dave -

Chassis is finished, the wheels are square to the chassis just the phone doesn't show that!! The body now just needs finishing. Dave B -

Still a work in progress and still fluid. Have shortened the driver access panel and have made fuel tank and water tanks, no radiator. Still to be finished in aluminium, attached and plumbed. Happy with front end, at least it's realistic. Tks for your support folks. Dave B PS, wheels/tyres will be squared up prior to finishing and not at odd angles!! -

Looking great Helmut, I hope Pattos decals work out. I use them frequently but they do need lots of solvent (Microset and Microsol are good) for compound curves. Dave B -
Tks Helmut,it's a little way off yet but I'll certainly try to live up to your expectations 😂 Dave B

There was a 50% off sale a month or so back so I asked Phil to download this file for me. He surprised me a few weeks back by printing it for me. Looks good but a lot of work to do. Motor, suspension and interior look good but the wheels are a bit average. There are also 2 McLaren's available so might look at them shortly. Dave B

Tks Helmut, it's nice to build something where I'm not trying to replicate the real thing. I can use a little imagination although I feel some things (i.e. the intake manifold) probably wouldn't work properly in reality. Anyway tks again and thanks to those who have been posting their likes etc. Dave B -

So I've finished the Cheetah and am progressing the Zagato so I'm able to spend some more time on this. Getting both the body and chassis where I want them. Dave B -

Great Helmut, those wheels are the ones we spoke about so you've saved some money there!! This should be good, will be watching. PS did you order the Cheetah body kit? Dave -

Looks great Mark, nicely executed. Dave B -
Tks Helmut. I haven't personally but I'm sure a mate of mine has bought their resin and it looks good. It's not 3D printed, just taken directly off the Cox body kit For AUD60 you couldn't go wrong!! Dave

Hi Rich, and tks, I'm really glad I finally finished it, just a shame my mate who gave me the bodies ( I also built a curbside CroSal roadster) never got to see it. My understanding is the wrecked aluminium bodied car was rebuilt and sold, but with a fibreglass body. Dave B

Ok, after 40+ years I have finally finished my take on the Bill Thomas Cheetah as driven by Jerry Titus. The debut came in January 64 at Riverside Raceway. Unfortunately while leading the pack the lower radiator hose broke dumping water under the rear tyres. The car went off on turn one, mounted the guard rail and went over the top. Jerry survived but the car was heavily damaged. My interpretation is based on a Cox slot car body, a '63 Corvette kit (engine and rear suspension) and a lot of styrene!! Painted in auto acrylic and clear coated, decals by Patto. Tks for looking. Dave B

Tks Daniel, Historic Racing Miniatures did do one, full detail, though not sure if it is still available. Dave B

Take your time Thomas, it will build into a really nice model. Looking forward to watching progress. Dave B
