  1. Keeps looking better and better .. keep it up!
  2. Will be interesting to watch. Don't scold your phone ,,, the first pic looks good and pretty sharp front to back. The second may be blurry, but it's just saying " pull back to the distance you took the 1st from."
  3. The only model I ever got for Xmas was a three ship set when I was 8. They were my first models and my Dad built the freighter while I did the tugboat. My Dad showed me how to build and I got hooked! No one ever gave me a kit after that ... I think I was too focused on specific ones and usually saved and bought them myself!
  4. I had to take a break to get the paint off and wait for some fresh paint to arrive, but, hopefully, I'll get back to it in the new year. I also acquired a Pershing Missile model ( my Army gun!) and that's been taking my attention, but that's too long a project to take away from the 944's. I'm making a New Years Resolution to complete these!
  5. I cheap and usually just wrap painter's tape (3M Blue) tightly around the drill as a handle. I'll have to keep an eye out for an old check, though.
  6. And remember to place a sheet of black paper behind the page so the opposite side doesn't ghost through, especially with a scanner.
  7. Dang, that looks great! I think you resolved the roof issue well to go with the design.
  8. Suspension brackets are amazing! ... well, so is everything else!
  9. I would have to un-retire and take a pay cut ... I'll pass
  10. Great looking bug!
  11. That's a cool one. I like your use of found materials (is that some old saw blades reinforcing the rear wheel wheels?) in the bodywork!
  12. Nice start ... my eye WILL be here!
  13. Normally it's 0 per year, but last year I finished TWO!
  14. Farther north and east in the Berkshires but we're only getting about 4"
  15. Defiantly some wide wheels on that!
  16. Backfire?? Yesterday I left it on the bench in the garage and this morning it was still in the garage but not where I left it..
  17. I just did a search for it ...
  18. Even though you're the one building this, I'm having fun just watching!
  19. could stuff a jet engine in that exhaust opening! ... or at least one heck of a tailpipe reducer! Loving this.
  20. Interior side pane. Check out the seat belts. Not hanging from B pillar, but A for effort. Decals. I may have to get the '68 version just for the VOLKSWAGON for the rear deck.
  21. I've been looking closer with a mind to using parts for my '69 build. I haven't built this kit so I can't comment on that. Most all the parts look sharp and well molded with things added I've seen on no other VW, for instance, seat belt ends on side of seats. Here's some close up photos of parts that impressed me. If anyone wants to see a photo of a particular part just ash here. Seats ... look at those seat belt ends. These are going into my '69 build! Body rear ... the tail light shrouds look perfect, though I'd like to have seen them separate from the body. Bumpers. These WILL go to my '69 Build. Padded dash. yes .. PADDED! Top Engine. The block, cylinders and trans are all molded together in two pieces and the detail is good. With the excellent accessories included, this could be one of the best VW engines out there. I'm anxious to see some built up. Shrouds Intake manifold .. amazing! exhaust
  22. This is a great tip. I will try it on something with flat floors. I agree it appears to be less of a mess and the fact it distributes more evenly is a definite plus. Maybe it a bit more work having to cut the rug out but that's not too complex with most model carpets.
  23. That's what it seemed closest to in location, but I wouldn't expect to tow much of a load considering the bend in the long attaching rod.
  24. I seriously don't know what that is. It sticks out the back past the bumper! Here's a shot from the side of the box that shows it on a built model .. It also shows from above in steps 56 to 58.
