  1. Everyone's said it already but,I have to agree that this is one good looker! Beautiful job!
  2. 1969, but still hour and half away. Was only 3 months out of the Army and hair still growing. Seems my fatigue shirts still worked (they had no button cuffs.)
  3. Beautiful, Nick!
  4. I didn't mention because of the subject, but I got a new water softener "over the weekend" (I'm in Massachusetts too). Now I can spend all my savings at HobbySearch - Model Car Store .. Japan!
  5. You can do the same as Dave says with spray cans. I like Metalizer aluminum which comes in sprays. There are many clears in spray cans that will get the polished look for you.
  6. These on line builds are fun, so don't sweat exposing all ... that's the fun of it. I've had a thread running since Sept. 2010 building my daughter's GMC van and it's still going on. I can't offer much help with the type of vehicle you're building but I'm enjoying it just the same!
  7. :D Even George can handle that solution . .. :D
  8. Just to keep with the list to figure out what's going on, I get no adds and use the latest Firefox. It would be helpful to see a screen shot of what it is but, I'd NEVER ask George to provide that!
  9. It was never a kid thing to me. I was always serious about reproducing something in scale that I liked. My first model was a three ship kit at 8 years old that my Father built with me. He did one ship while I did the others on my own. His job painting blew me away and I think I have always shrived to do as well as he did. I'm not sure I've reached that level, but then, the image of his ship is only in my mind.
  10. man Harry ... my knuckles hurt from that rap It's fixed! The spell checker highlights BMF so I never notice as I ignore it.
  11. Now. there's a FUN truck! I love it!
  12. Ah, Mike .. thanks for the response . .where's my head at? Of course, epoxy is the answer! It will take all the abuse, filing and sanding I can throw at it. It must be my dislike of epoxy that it didn't come to mind ... anything two-part is a pain and wasteful, but it IS the right one for this job.
  13. Most people there didn't even have one of those. I was just out of the Army living 2 hours away in CT. A friend and I started heading that way on a whim then heard the traffic reports and decided it wouldn't be worth it. .. HEAD KICK! ...
  14. I have to glue a .04" x .04" styrene square to the side of a vent window as the post. It will be sanded flush at the ends and BMF applied. I'm afraid of my usual glass measures since it will be handled a lot. I usually use some watch crystal cement when gluing glass but do have some Testors Clear Parts Cement, which I haven't used yet. I'm tempted to use the Testers but not sure how good it sticks. I'd definitely like to use CA but have heard too much about it will craze glass (plastic). Any thoughts would be appreciated.
  15. This will probably get to be a massive thread, so jumping in at the beginning. Mine are probably mostly stock SBC's, but those ARE Chevys!
  16. Nice job. That bubble looks great! I remember that front end from seeing it in the mags back then and always liked it
  17. Those re two beauties, Rylan .. they belong on the showroom floor together! .. or, at least THROUGH the showroom ...
  18. Not much left of that one .. someone even wanted the seats!
  19. I had a desk in my room to build on from the time I was 8 when I started. Spray paint was done outside on the side porch .. really just a concrete step. There were shelves on two walls filled with ships, armor and cars. The ceiling had planes hanging from thread. The cars gradually moved the ships "out to sea" .. for good!
  20. ALL the CD's are Grateful Dead ... sharp eyes. My daughter inherited my love of the Dead ..
  21. The hinges, the hinges. I know I should never have glued the pins so soon with all the work on the body to go ,,, and, true to form, one, then the second one on the left door came apart. I'm not sure I can get the bottom one back on without gluing the door shut as it's the middle cylinder that needs glue. If so, so be it. The GMC logo got on and I replaced 3 of the scraggy decals. New hubcaps are flatter than the ones I showed long ago but they work. Wheels are mounted, BTW! At the alignment shop ... Interior is shaping up ... just a steering wheel mount to go. CD player is in and that's all my daughter needs! and YES! .. it DID pass Massachusetts inspection!
  22. I like Floquil Weathered Black when I need something that shade. Might still be a bit too light for charcoal black. Hard to tell from a computer image, I know.
  23. That's really cool. I'd expect more than a few might make the trans-Atlantic flight!
