  1. Finished the decals, but I may re-do some of these rounded ones after looking at the photo! I left the photo a bit larger than usual so the decals were more readable. I'm amazed the decal process lets me do things this fine.
  2. Very good! The body looks just right
  3. The models were spectacular .. creativity grows in Kansas like wheat!
  4. I'm getting more excited after seeing all those parts! I see your bird came in white primer!
  5. I was just going to comment on your "liking" of those thin body pieces (including the rear tulip) when you voiced your own concerns. I dying to see how you hinge that trunk!
  6. Glad to see ya got the pic posting down. I too like your weathering .. not overdone and very realistic.
  7. Loving this build! These with tons of little changes to create a model that doesn't exist are subtle yet creative.
  8. I used a thin pin with a ball top to make one ... may have been an insect pin. Was painted with Alclad chrome to get the ball chrome . to the right in this pic .. it's not mounted yet
  9. That pie section on the rear fenders really pulled it together. You've got a great eye!
  10. The Tamiya was definitely the way to go on this .. well done!
  11. That VW skull wagon is an awesome idea! Both it and the chopper are definitely unique .. AND .. look good!
  12. I see what you're shooting at but can't give any sources you might find that size. I have had the same problem and wrapped some .01" strip around the rims. I was lucky the difference was small and the .01 was easy to wrap. Here's a pic to clarify more ... That rim was replaced, BTW )
  13. so young. A good explanation. Gramps ... and she DOES deserve credit, Very nice job!

Sure looks clean and well detailed to me. Very nice looking build!
  15. Moving right along ... front grill/bumper is done. I made a ceiling that is similar to the "tapestry" my daughter had hanging in the van ... just printed on some white paper and glued in. The rear logos look ok painted .. one will work. All the decals are printed and drying and should get applied this weekend. I made some CD cases from clear sheet and decals that will get distributed in the front ...maybe some photos later in the weekend. All are Grateful Dead ... she IS my daughter!
  16. This is true, but using a high quality setting when printing will get the ink as dense as it comes. The link in my post above shows some applied over a dark blue paint and they came out ok. For additional density you can apply a second decal over the first.
  17. Depends what you're needing. If you need white in the decal, that's what the white paper is used for. Since ink jet printers can't print white, there's no applied in white ares and the white paper shows through. Sometimes even that doesn't do it if it's too hard to cut exactly around the image. I had a bunch of bumper stickers I needed for a van build and I did them on white paper to get the white lettering. They were nice and rectangular so were easy to cut out. You can see them in my WIP here: near bottom of page. Most decals want to be printed on clear decal paper so there's no close trimming to do.
  18. Some nicely done builds there .. especially paint! The photos of the first black one were superb.
  19. Use whatever program you have to print the graphics and use a high quality setting. I print a test copy on plain paper to check scaling size. I use Micro Mark decal paper and have had no troubles with it. I have a high end graphics printer and it handled photo quality printing well. After printing I give a day for the ink to dry and apply a couple light coats of acrylic clear. This keeps the ink from running when you put in water!
  20. A VERY small one to keep this alive. Seems everything need to finish is small. There were always tennis balls in the van for my daughter's dog, so ... Some correct sized metal beads I found at Michaels. They even had a pin attached for holding and to mount! I coated with some embossing powder for a bit of texture.
  21. This really shines out in the sun. Just SPECTACULAR!
  22. That intake looks great .. nice job!
  23. Photo is a bit small to read. Name, brand and available of what site? I does look good.
