  1. I strongly advise looking at model railroad sites. Scenery is their bread and butter. Just for kicks look at the base for the Mouse RodI I just completed. I used Woodland Scenics Mold-A-Scene Plaster .. any hydra-cal will do . and added sifted dirt from outside. Some acrylic paint and some Silflor weeds did the job. I dragged a stick thru the wet plaster to make a couple tire tracks.
  2. That grill looks like a '39 ... guess it's supposed to be a custom.
  3. I like the one pump . it IS rural. I was going to say a small canopy to add something to break up the bare front, but Harry's sign suggestion would do it. And, you probably had this and other things in mind anyway.
  4. a Porsche will always get my attention. Those fenders are amazing .. liking it all!
  5. that is STUNNING!!
  6. Something hitting at "just the right angle" and moving in same direction. It hits just the top of the bumper and forces it down ... maybe the shape of the front end, like an under pan, forces it down more and the VW bumper bracket forces the bend at that point while the remainder of the bumper stats about where it started. This is "beautiful"!!
  7. I need a smiley the size of this page!!!!!!!!!!
  8. Really enjoying this ... beautiful work!
  9. Some seemingly small updates but It's been going steady since the last one. The chassis got the suspension and exhausts mounted. Had to make new front shocks which are shown unpainted with the rusted up wheels. Once the front spindles are mounted (pin keeps jumping to the carpet .. Grrrr ) the chassis is dome and wheels can be mounted. The front hubcaps are chromed (Alclad) and just need the decals I had shown before on a different set.
  10. The look of this is fantastic .. nice everyday driver.
  11. No reason I stopped other than another one catching my attention. I think we build at the same pace ( ). but I have 20 or so others that I switch back and forth on. I was having trouble finding an acrylic light blue that really slowed me down. Right now, I may get back to it after my daughter's van is finally done. I'm not sure I'm going to make it to Classic Plastic's show this year, but would be nice to see this live!
  12. Liking seeing this back on the table. But I'd never push you on it .. 3 years is nothing according to my build schedule. The best part of building is the building ... if you finish it, you can't work on it anymore.
  13. The replica of my daughter's GMC van has been exactly that! I just got back on it after a year break and it started right off again .. replace TWO hinges, re-apply 10 decals on the back doors, re-paint the wheels ... Well, maybe that's not too bad considering how this whole build has gone, These hinges were a saga all by themselves
  14. maybe cut lines that reflect the fender tops.
  15. WoW! Congrats Andy! You've come a long way baby!
  16. A lot of people use store bought signs for sheet styrene, like FOR SALE signs.
  17. That's looking fantastic .. in concept and execution!
  18. Those look amazing! .. especially being stretched sprue!
  19. hehe .. that puppy's loaded! fantastic job .. the boxes look as they should and weathering is right on! Maybe some new shocks when you hit the west coast..
  20. I'd say get in touch with L.I.A.R.S. I'm sure there's a member here anyway who will chime in.
  21. I use Elmers Glue too. There's been a few threads on this before, but the search function here doesn't work well. Here's a few links .. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=40520 http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=29308

    Beautiful job on that!
  23. Welcome here, Ozzy. What you say about the kids now-a-days is kind of true, but there is hope. I'm retired and spend my time building, among many other things. I tried getting my son interested when young but he wasn't interested .. computer games had him hooked. Sounds familiar to many but now ... at 33 years old and a programmer he's starting to build little dio scenes. They are based on his games, but my builds are based on my auto addiction! So, there IS hope!
  24. Wonderful post .. and idea! I'm looking forward to mega-documentation on this!
  25. I like the candle touch .. for stretching sprue. I've been painting like crazy ... dehumidifier runs 24/7 in my workshop basement. ... stays cool down there too!
