The latest forum update seems to have lost a feature I really liked, but maybe I'm just missing something I need to check off. When I'd click on a long thread, like the 150 page "What did you get today?", it would go straight to the last page and posted addition I read last time. This was very convenient on long threads. Now it just goes to the first page and I have to wade my way thru to find the last thing I read. Is this a feature that was lost in the latest version?

Nice body and fantastic work you're doing! I noticed you have the Buick side trim glued on and you've convinced me to do it this way on a Merc I'm working on ... I have debating whether to glue on after Alclading it ... but the door cuts worried me. This IS the way ... BMF after.

Silly Yahoo Answers Question...
Foxer replied to Wayne Buck's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Of course you know we've already done that here ... I made a 1/25 beanbag chair for my daughters van I'm working on The chair photos start on this page in my W.I.P. about halfway down if anyone is interested. -
I was watching it come together and all the work payed off! Nice job on not having to convert it to left-hand drive like all the ones I've seen.

I hate everything having to be labeled too. I'd call it a home built car, but that would be a label too! At any rate, that's an interesting start and I like the motor choice.

The cold would probably only affect your liquids ... paint, glue, putty, etc. ... if it got below freezing. Most enclosed spaces as you describe would only rarely get that cold in PA. The heated rooms below would prevent that. All the other modeling items I can think wouldn't be affected. It would have to get pretty hot to affect things. Warping of plastic might be the real worry it it got into the 90's inside maybe. I'm not sure what temperature might warp a body. You probably won't see many 90 degree days there anyway. Just some ventilation on hot days may be all you need to prevent any disaster. I know you said a hearer and a/c were available but I expect your concerned with the 2nd room where you might store things which is what I was addressing.

What a difference some wider hips make. This is actually a cool looking body! Looking forward to see this progress.

Acrylic spray paint ... what's your favorite?
Foxer replied to Foxer's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thanks, Virgil. -
I've asked this a few times before with NO responses, so it's about time to bother you all again. Part of my problem is I need a cream color for some wheels and none of the usual model paint lines carry it. I did just try some Folk Art artist acrylic and this was not suitable. Granted, I just used water to thin it but no "acrylic solvent" was available anywhere near here. I at this point, I'm at a complete loss as to where to try next and this build may just return to the undone pile.

How could I detail a battery?
Foxer replied to Mr. Moparman's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Just typical battery detailing here ... paint caps proper color, add PE cable ends and add decals representing the manufacture. Some corrosion would be appropriate also if it's a daily driver. -
I like all the ideas here, but I'm going to have to look into some stainless steel exhausts for my next build ...

In defense of the Probe
Foxer replied to Kit Basher's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The first car my daughter bought herself (well, I DID have to help some ) was a '95 Probe GT (V6) with manual transmission. She IS a car girl and did all the maintenance she could on it. I had one of my Porsche 944's at the time and the Probe did remind me of it to some extent. It was faster straight on and wasn't bad cornering, though it was hard as a rock without the compliance Porsche excels at. There were troubles along it's life.. the engine spit oil like an Oklahoma farmer with a chaw. I was a good looker for sure. This is one I'll never be able to model, unfortunately. -
You just can't keep a good thing secret .. like Waikiki Beach in the tourist season.

1953 Ford F100
Foxer replied to Nick Winter's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
That's a well used ... at least a couple years into it's life ... truck. Every "bump" on it tells a story! I'm loving your new camera too, Nick! -
Weathered models, beaters, and wrecks.
Foxer replied to Darin Bastedo's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
This is STUNNING! Where did you get the 1/25 scale web spinners? The look is fantastic! -
Welcome to the forum Chris. Yeah, you should be getting a bit more of this hurricane than me ... I relocated to the Berkshires from East Hartford where I grew up. A number of the Japanese companies have kitted the 240Z in various scales. Revell also made one in 1/25. Just search ebay in the toys area to see whats around. Better yet, try this link.

Hear's another tread thread
Foxer replied to sjordan2's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I would start by measuring the kit tires and try to find what sizes at the time match. I know you already suspect the tires Jo-Han put in the kit, but that's a start. It almost looks like the kit tire has a size on it? Is that xxx-17 I read? I can't tell what the xxx might be. It seems like 17" may be a reasonable rim size for that. Also scaling the tires off a good side view photo using a known dimension, like the wheelbase, can get close to the actual tire dimensions. That's a pretty unusual tread on the real tire. I know the odds of finding something just like it are gonna be slim. All the 500k photos I've seen have conventional looking tires, but they are probably all restored and who knows what they are wearing. -
It really is getting insane here ... 3 hours north of you in the Berkshires. We got an automated call today saying we would be without power for a week! If they are so intuitive, why weren't they here today to fix it!

Wire size for 1/12 scale?
Foxer replied to crazyjim's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Just divide the 1:1 wire size by 12 and that's what you need. So, a 3/8" diameter wire is .375/12 = .0313" diameter.
