  1. Interesting ... at least the hood is pretty easy to cut open in the normal way. I decided that for my build, I needed to lessen all the "make work" detailing I do.
  2. I use a graphics program to do this but may be able to give an idea for using Word. You first use Insert_Picture_From a File to call in an image. If you first print the image from Windows you'll get an idea how much you have to shrink it. Then Click on the image and drag from a corner, holding the <shift> key to keep the same proportions. This is a bit trial and error but shouldn't take more than one or two printings to get it right.
  3. Nice paint! .. that's not a box that's gonna be easily lost in a crowd. I have to comment on this as I found the "Chevy" van I'm working on ... actually an A-Team kit had so much good detail on the engine and compartment I I never understood why the hood didn't open. That was a crime for sure. This looks like the same engine, but maybe some stuff wasn't included in this issue.
  4. If it didn't remind me that summer is half over and I'll be seeing these on the road again in a few months, I'd say I love it. But, I DO!
  5. I haven't finished a build in 20 years .. so leave me alone, Dad!!! Both of you did a great job on these and you should be proud!
  6. All these builds shown here are magnificent builds of a great kit! I started building the hardtop Impala I had and started with the convertible and got a resin hardtop from ... not sure. That was enough off the convertible body I started just cutting the top off. Then the hardtop kit came out and just used that. All it has needed is BMF for about 15 years.. I think it's an exceptional kit detail wise and it will surly put your BMF resume up a notch!
  7. I like it! ... exactly why a van project of mine has been sitting for 3 months ... BMF Fever! The old hands just cant run an edge with BMF as they used to so I don't like doing it much anymore. When it's done, though, nothing else can compare. I made a run back through this project and I loved every minute. Your comments and photos made me feel I was sitting right next to you watching. Putting the trials and tribulations right out there is what gives the interest and education. And did I mention I love the build! I have a few of the 356's ... one I got JUST for the wheels! Hope to see ya continuing on with this beauty.
  8. I was going to say "my eyes are bugging out watching this one", but now I guess "eyes frogging out" doesn't sound right. This is looking good ... little touches like the windshield will make this simple lit stand out.
  9. Sounds like we have a new acronym ... HF ... Hudson Fever!
  10. Sounds like you have it. Worst case you might need to add some body putty to smooth.
  11. Good to see you have some paint on and it's looking like something your friend will be overjoyed over. Keep plugging.
  12. All these Mercs deserve this! looking good .. I like the section results.
  13. I really like the "heft" it has down low like that!
  14. As a starter, most plastic kits have a body thickness close to .04" so that's a useful sheet thickness to have around for many uses. In 1/25 scale .04" equates to 1" in 1:1 scale. So, .01" sheet is a quarter inch in 1/25th scale etc.
  15. Your links do not look correct and possibly passing them thru Word has altered them. Below is how your link looks to me? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v720/davezinn/July%202011%20drag%20madness/0013.jpg[/img] and this is how a link just copied from Photobucket appears when I post . I replaced the first and last [ and ] with (((( )))) so the link text shows. ( IMG]http://i219.photobuc...lesDSC_7631.jpg[/img ) Your link has an img at the start of the link where mine does not. At any rate, I'd suggest pasting the link directly in here to see if it is Word messing it up.
  16. Nicely done weathering!
  17. The dents look realistic .. and the gunk is gunky! Nice job so far!
  18. I like that front suspension..
  19. This keeps looking better and better ... and quite interesting. I need a tonneau cover and maybe this is worth a shot.
  20. I think it's looking good. Woodworking is surely different than that nice easy cutting plastic, but it sure looks good from here!
  21. On second thought, I better go check inside the apple for that scale nut!
  22. Who do you think I build for? ... ME!
  23. I'd have to first ask what tape you're using to mask with. Sounds like it may be too strong if it's pulling paint off with it. Or, the paint wasn't cured enough before masking. I've never stripped paint using paint thinner. Do as Mike says and use purple power, brake fluid or the many other fluids that have been mentioned here to strip.
