  1. The seats are spectacular! Look slightly used with a little grime and shading ...
  2. This is looking awesome and is a very interesting build to follow.
  3. I don't understand why white balance didn't apply in your previous film experience. All the photographers I knew back in film days had their trusty 18% grey cards on hand. Digital white balancing is just so much less hassle. My DSLR's manual even tells how to use a grey card to set white balance ... just like my 1969 circa Minolta. With the quality of digital images now I would never go back to film!
  4. I think you may have shut me up, Chuck.
  5. Is there somewhere online I could go for the definition of a "girly car". I suspect, at least, that a manly car is a box like all those old muscle cars and anything with a sensuous curve is a girly car? My wife has an V6 Audi Q5 with all the S stuff and my daughter has an old Porsche. What makes these girly cars? I like the look of latest Beetle more than the original, but I haven't seen one for real yet.
  6. I LOVE surgery ... and cosmetic the most! I'm sure loving this.
  7. Good job on the dash. I'm amazed how symmetrical many dashes are when you really look.
  8. Very nice build and I agree, the subtle weathering is done well.
  9. Exactly what I'm talking about. Wayne did a good job explaining this method, but again, acrylic paint is water based .. it dissolves in water! I don't get the need of hairspray. I DO need to get some experiments going, I know, but the weather is going sunny again tomorrow! eheh
  10. There's the whole thread in a nutshell .. short and sweet. No more needs to be said.
  11. I'm a total amateur at this as I have just tried it for the first time on some rims to get them in a semi-rusted condition. It seems like it's the acrylic top coat that does all the work. My understanding was that it was the hair spray that reacted to the water and loosened the top coat but it was the acrylic top coat that loosened with the water. I started with some Floquil Roof Brown for a base coat. Then some Dull Coat and a layer of Hair Spray. All were given time to cure between coats. Since acrylic paint in a spray doesn't seem to exist, I used some Polly S Ivory brush painted for the top coat on my experimental rim. After about a half hour I scrubbed it with water and a stiff bristle brush (an old brush cut short). The acrylic loosened and even ran and smeared with the water. With less water and more scrubbing the effect came through looking good. But, it was ALL in the acrylic paint, not hairspray. Does this all seem correct to those of you that have used this method? Maybe I can be enlightened on what point the hair spray really serves. Seems just the Dull Coat and no hair spray will give the same effect. I can't believe all the raves about this can't be because we've all been duped by the hair spray marketing people!
  12. nicely done!
  13. Sorry, but I haven't seen your build but would love to. I come here to see people's builds. I can appreciate your effort building your web site but I don't go when people send me somewhere else. I know about programming.. my first was in 1964 in Fortran. This place is to make it easy (I know.. clicking an external link is easy) to see and comment on people's builds. If you don't want everyone to see your hard work then send them somewhere else by all means.
  14. WE always have new members going through the vast library of old posts and they can't resist commenting on the magnificent things we have said .. or shown!
  15. That came out great looking! Your tutorial was outstanding in explaining the process clearly.
  16. looks great chuck... but a hemi in a chevy? really? you ought to be proud of yourself! fixing a good truck like that!
  17. This seems dumb to me, but I cannot find acrylic paint in a spray can anywhere. I need a cream color for wheels on my van project for the top coat over hair spray. Can anyone direct me to a brand that does acrylic? I may have to just brush coat them since I'll be chipping it anyway, but spray is so much better. And I don't want to go through the hassle of using my air brush for such a small thing.
  18. I say no apology is needed for the wondrous building adventures you take us through and accuracy is not everyone's goal in this hobby. Even when I'm building one of the cars I owned, they no longer exist for reference and if it feels good, I do it my way.
  19. Thankyou, Romell .. that IS my class.
  20. I'm in Class 0. I don't do classifications, categories or slots. The closest I'd come is is the Mike (Foxer) DeRagon catagory .. but even that is ill defined with two names! Maybe Unfinished says it, but I'd make a liar of you saying I DID finish about 12 in the '90! I just do whatever needs to be done to meet my imagination for the build at hand and jump in ...
  21. How can I comment without saying "clean" again! Very nice build. How can I comment without saying "clean" again! Very nice build.
  22. This is looking extremely well! I am overjoyed to see Mom's sewing thread (spring wraps) still has a use in this day and age.
  23. I prefer the way Firefox does bookmarks WAY better that IE's way of "DO IT OUR WAY!" method. I really don't believe Microsoft has ever used their own software. ehhe But that's why PC's sell more units than Mac's WE have a CHOICE as to what software to use!! Just imagine everyone having only one or two choices per software category ... I can't. None of this is meant as "my way is better" ... it's all about personal choices.
  24. Maybe cause I'm always in Dutch with my wife.. That site has old USA state plates I can find nowhere else. It also had the Military Plates I had while stationed in Germany in '68. The selection there is huge!
