  1. Just a note .. Ryan's 8-lug wheels scale out to 16.5" diameter. They are very well done.
  2. Acme is still a good place for plates. Another that has Out of USA plates in addition to a good selection of older state plates is here. If you print them out on photo paper they look good and the paper gives some body to it. I like making a decal and putting it to some soda can tin. The thickness looks good and it will bend/damage well like a 1:1.
  3. I am guilty of posting questions in the tips category simply because when the helpful modelers here ALWAYS answer, it becomes a tip. Having two categories just seems redundant.
  4. This is pretty much the way I see it, but it seems people think they should pay for tee shirts to wear advertising on their bodies. Those should be given away! I just don't understand people wanting to become advertising billboards. This same mind think has caused us to lose tire logos.
  5. That is STUNNING! Fantastic concept and build.. !
  6. Congratulations! We won't tell anybody ...
  7. I'm sure glad the question was asked ... there's some excellent lessons in Applied Dirt going on here!
  8. I don't have a p/n for you, but here's a way to figure out what gauge wire to get for the boots. Measure the diameter of the 30 gauge wire (diameter of insulation) being used for the spark plug wire. This will be the diameter of wire with insulation that will slip over it. Use a wire gauge table to get a wire with ever so slightly larger diameter. Remember, a table giving wire diameters is for the wire, not insulation.
  9. ut oh .. Andy's gonna be a teenager! ,,, are we gonna be able to LIVE with him??? I'm sure we will! .. us oldsters are just teems at heart anyway .
  10. I hear ya ... there are still a few farms here.! There's the occasional tractor pulling an overloaded wagon of hay but I respect them and they respect the right-of-way.
  11. That is very impressive! Tell us more ... I always liked dirt racers but my glacial building style prevents me from a completed one. I have an old modified on the bench of the '35 Chevy. This is the only photo of where it sits.
  12. Welcome, Rob. WE all love scale here, but some of us have difficulty keeping correct scale around the mid section.
  13. "I" likes it!
  14. Exactly the same here in the mountains of Massachusetts.
  15. Wheelman got it.
  16. Looking pretty good for 5 days ... my paint doesn't even dry in 5 days!
  17. Here's the picture: Buick of unknown year or model "screaming" down the road at 10 mph under the speed limit ... no visible head in the driver's seat .. and a Hazard County decal with the Duke's Charger in a "Lose the Sheriff" pose on the rear panel. I'm not dangerous ... always 10 mph max over the limit .. but please move aside!
  18. A iphone app just to scale something? Well, it did give you correct dimensions. I'm an engineer and created building construction plans all my life ... heed basher and GTMust and you can't go wrong. Then, just use the iphone as a ... (revelation) pnone.
  19. A lot more grinding and fitting today, mostly on the interior panels as the frame is fitting well. I will need to make a floor, hopefully the Minicraft TR3 floor will work with some mods. The need for reshaping of the rear of the wheel wells can be seen in this photo. This is due to the difference in shape for the TR4 and TR3 wheel openings. It should only need some trimming and added sheet plastic to get the slope. The interior panels need considerable sanding to get a fit along the body edges. The photo gives an idea of the work required and much more needed. I will have to make a tonneau cover for the top so most of the edges won't be seen and I can ease up on this a bit. I wonder if some kit has something I could adopt for the tonneau cover? The seats from the Gunze kit are close to the correct shape for an American TR4A and I'll be using them. The black seat is the Gunze and the white one is the resin Air-Trax seat. It is shaped like a TR3 seat and maybe the European TR4's were the same.

That's a great job on all the dents and damage! Massive damage like that is not easy to do and this looks about as realistic as any I've seen.
  21. Beautiful!
  22. I'm overwhelmed at the TR experience and love here. I DO have to put in a bad word for SU carb syncing, though. Body has been soaking in the Westly's last day or so but grinding will recommence tomorrow.
