I winced when I first saw the photos, but went back to inspect once I read your text. I'm a Structural Engineer and can report that, while not meeting any Building Code, the structure is safe! I've seen many of the things you've done in 1:1 buildings, many "adjustments" for bad cuts with the Rip saw! I really like what you're doing ... and hope it doesn't snow there soon ...

The body paint looks gorgeous! I have to assume we're seeing the back side of the masking. Have to see black paint with masks removed for this old mind to click.

I got a kit for Xmas when I was 8 that had three ships in it and my Dad built the freighter as I did the tugboat. It was his first build too and I remember how well his painting looked. I was hooked and went through many ships, planes and armor, but those multi-piece car body kits I didn't want to try, even though cars were my big love. When AMT came out with one-piece body kits I was hooked ... hardly anything else since then!

Thanks, Rob I'm sure it would be at the bottom of the stack if it wasn't one of the favorite cars I had. I do get a bit too picky when I do these, but the turn signals are the most visible change for the 4A.

Thanks for the comments and suggestions ... I'll have to look at one of those Ferraris, but these 3D printed ones are pretty exact. They are at a stage to be going to the black Alclad coat very soon. I've been off it due to me daughter's wedding this past weekend on the beach at Cape Cod. I did try a Gelly Roll white gel pen for the white piping on the black rubber seats. I never thought they would cover the black well but with just one swipe along the raised piping they look fantastic!

I just got back from a long trip to my daughter's wedding, so I'll have to post photos later, but I needed something to paint the white piping around some black rubbery seats and tried a Gelly Roll white gel pen. I could easily draw around the raised thin edge of the molded on seat piping and was very OPAQUE! I was surprised how visible the white gel showed up on the black black seats. I would definitely recommend trying some Gelly Roll gel pens.

It's really cool that 3D has entered the modeling mainstream. I just had some "never made" TR4A turn signal housings 3D Printed from a 3D file I had after 2 years of trying to figure how I'd make the tiny, but complex, things. It was so easy (I do 3D model) and the price was what I'd pay for some small resin cast item.

These aren't exactly what you're looking for but with all the source replies your thread is looking like the "where can I get great looking wire wheels" to go to! So, these PE wheels I got from a Gunze Sangyo High-Tech TR2 La Mans kit to use on a TR4A I'm building. These kits come up on ebay all the time and are usually a bit expensive. I got them in a bid on just the wheels and tires for $20. They look spectacular compared to the 2 TR3 kits I have as donors. They look just like the TR4A I had and are good for sport cars.
