Thanks! Kind of what I thought. I wanted to black out the windows on a Tamiya Skyline I built not too long ago (same reason- lack of interior detail) but couldn't bring myself to do it, but the 'blackout' look is perfect on this car.

The only thing I don't like about the AMT Challenger promos (and kits) is the way they did the uprights for the front spoiler- the whole thing gets painted black and it looks like there's a chunk missing out of the back of the bumper. Other than that anybody who thinks they look like "toys" needs to have their eyes examined. You said it was polished- I'm wondering is the body painted or molded in color? Anyway, love how it looks with the stock wheels and the ones you added. There's a 1:1 light blue Challenger R/T in my area with wheels similar to the ones you put on this one. I kind of wonder how those stock Challenger wheels would look on the 'Cuda now.

Cordoba. Mirada was a Dodge. Either way it does bear quite a resemblance. Nice job on this one- I'm assuming this is a curbside originally meant to be motorized?

One of these would look pretty good decked out with the accessories from Aoshima's Patrol Car parts set too, now that I think of it.
-
Awesome! Now I just need to see a built-up example of the Enkei version and I'm pretty sure Aoshima will be getting at least a few bucks out of my pocket.

Could have put "Spoiler Alert" or something in the thread title...

Just we thought it was over! ORANGE COUNTY CHOPPERS

John- I can think of the one who stutters, thinks the word 'idea' has an 'r' at the end, and has never met a pair of sleeves he liked. That narrow it down? -
One more reason I wish I'd made it to the Detroit NNL this year...

Meaning I might be partially broke shortly?

What goes around, comes around.

Not digging the side window shape, but I like the rest. And I have to agree the 510 influence is crystal clear in the design. -
I'm hoping you're right- that'll just mean that if I'm patient I can build my old-school VIP with no kitbashing and/or aftermarket intervention required.

A bit of useless trivia about that- after being refitted (the Quick Fix guise which exists today), the the car was painted black at the behest of LBJ. He felt that people would associate the original metallic blue color with the assassination.

ETC stood for Eldorado Touring Coupe, but whenever I pull up behind one at a stoplight, I always think it looks like Cadillac was too lazy to put the rest of the name on the deck lid. "Eldorado, Etc. ... " Yeah, I'm sick of strings of alphabet soup and numbers passing as car names too, but let's be honest, they ran out of cool names for cars decades ago.

Like I said- I think the MKC is little more than a stopgap. But here's what I think... Chrysler has been on the edge of financial ruin for most of its existence, and has actually changed hands more than a few times. But if lowly old Chrysler can go from building stuff like this... To stuff like this... There's still more than a little hope for Lincoln. Ford execs have stated Lincoln is their main focus, and if the past is any indicator that's a good sign, unless they SEVERELY mishandle the situation. (Cough, cough, GM remaking Oldsmobile to appeal to younger buyers when the first three letters in the name spell OLD...) I mean, Chrysler is considered a "legitimate premium brand" again, that after years of building nothing but Dodges with egg crate grilles. Then again I'm a bit cynical, as it seems that "ultimate luxury car" nowadays just means "it's the car every rapper and NFL player drives". In that case, looks trump substance.

Two copies of IE, and I'm having the same issues on the forum with both. But using Chrome is working quite well as far as quoting and posting pics. If nothing else I can use Chrome for MCM until I get my potential IE issue sorted out. But... Not gonna get a Mac, unless it's handed to me from a Mickey D's drive-through window.

It was reissued as part of the "AMT Muscle" (I think?) series around 2007 or so. I don't recall if it had the Roadrunner scripts on the body because that version included a '69 GTX body for some reason. They were included on the decal sheet though, If I'm not mistaken.

So is the 'rat rod' craze officially over?
Chuck Most replied to Mike_G's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I always think it's cute when people automatically assume all rat rods are 'unsafe'. True, some are. But how many 4x4s have you seen with the classic "Hockey Puck Body Lift", maybe complete with a 2x4 jammed under the radiator core support? Ever seen somebody try to use a u-joint from a ratchet set to connect their steering column to the gear? It happens. Or what about everyday vehicles running around with bald tires, worn tie rod ends about to fall out, gas tanks that leak at the seams, brake lines "repaired" with compression fittings, and any manner of other potential catastrophes just waiting to happen? Even if you add up every 'rat rod' on the road, and assume that every one of them is 'unsafe', they'd be handily outnumbered by poorly maintained everyday cars. Odds are the guy in the clapped-out '97 Maxima will be the guy who kills or injures you in traffic because something on his car failed. I'm actually envious of people who live in states with mandatory vehicle inspections. -
Nice! As you probably know (since you saw the 1:1 on display) the car was retrofitted after the assassination with a fixed bullet-resistant roof. No more open-air motoring for this car after that day in Dallas.

Love that Blazer Fred. That reminds me, I've got one of those Blazers in the works myself. -
Old-school VIP, anyone? That's what I'm thinking.
