  1. Do it! You know you want to! I did a rat rod a while back with a Nissan DOHC inline six....
  2. Well, yeah? I'm saying some manufacturer produces them, and then MARKETS them to the nail salons. Which it appears is being done.
  3. Love it! From your screen name, though, I expected to see a VTEC engine in it.
  4. Doesn't that pretty much make up the entire model car market nowadays? Is there really such a thing as a "casual modeler" left? We keep hearing about fewer and fewer modelers- how many ways can that ever-shrinking group come up with another way to build a '55 Chevy hardtop? I think all of us are tired of the "usual" subjects to an extent.
  5. I have that issue- I think that article was a complementary piece to the three-way '97 F-150 comparo by Chuck Kourouklis. Man... three full-detail kits of a brand new pickup kit in one year- betcha that'll never happen again.
  6. And wouldn't this kit be the perfect recipient for this... http://www.madmodeling.com/store/ccp0-prodshow/50-chop-olds.html
  7. Careful- those roving bands of vagabond car salesmen can be pretty gung-ho about trying to sell you a car. I applaud you for setting foot anywhere guys like that set up camp.
  8. The only thing I don't like about it is that I'm not the guy building it. It's already an impressive looking piece- you know I'll be tuned in for this!
  9. Yes, it would. To tell the truth I wasn't going to get this kit, but now I might, if for no other reason than to have an excuse to use the side steps and grille you have here.
  10. I'm just gonna go ahead and bump this, seeing as how Revell has just introduced a custom version of the kit.
  11. I must have really been asleep at the switch- where did this kit come from? Thanks for the photos, Tim! Looks like Revell's getting at least a few more of my monetary units this fall...
  12. UNLESS..., as Mr. Jones pointed out, you pitched them to nail salons, and then maybe got the word out that they might also be useful for model cars. Emery boards were never marketed to modelers, but how many of us have used them at some point in our modeling careers? Heck, neither was nail polish, but several paint their models with the stuff. Just occurred to me... that's two products modelers have 'borrowed' from the nail salon people... what's one more?
  13. They were both based on Hardtop kits (The '60 an Impala, and the '56 a Victoria), which had higher roofs than the pillared cars and sedan deliveries, which would explain the discrepancy. It makes for a somewhat incorrect model, but you are absolutely right about having an easier time fitting the glass. Now- in the off chance you did mean panel truck as opposed to sedan delivery, at one time someone made a '64/65 panel truck body- if you took that and used it from behind the doors and back with the cab from an AMT '60 Chevy pickup body (from the doors forward) spliced on, that would net you a '60 Panel. I have no idea who cast the body, though- but I've seen a few of them.
  14. Hey- I'm not sure if you were speaking in jest in that last sentence, but that actually doesn't sound like a bad idea at all. There are a lot of women out there who like to decorate their nails, and a lot of them are football fans. Just pitch the idea as a manicure product, and if a few modelers buy them for their own purposes too, so much the better.
  15. It's not really too difficult. Well, cutting the windshield opening up higher, anyway. Scribing a new window molding line on the other hand... that I've had some trouble with.
  16. Good to know. Doesn't the Bronco hood have the "Ford" lettering engraved onto the forward edge, too?
  17. My guess is busy on the phone. Probably texting. Jeez, who's bright idea was that? Everybody knows that when somebody is on the phone they're thinking of the conversation and not paying any attention to what's going on around them, so what do the phone manufacturers do? They bring out text messaging! Now cell phone users not only don't pay attention to their surroundings, but they don't even LOOK at what's going on around them anymore either. I sometimes have to wonder if the phone companies are trying to speed up natural selection.
  18. That's like asking which lung is my favorite, or which one of my taste buds I favor over all the others. They all make good and bad stuff- for me, it all boils down to subject matter. If I like the subject the kit depicts, I'll buy it, regardless of who manufactured it.
  19. Please- you and Scummy don't need to apologize for guys like him. All over the world you Aussies are known for your laid-back, carefree, friendly attitude. But even going in thinking that, we all know there are exceptions to every rule... Mr. Angrypants there being one of 'em.
  20. Absolutely love this! If you hadn't pointed it out, I'd have never guessed the roof was from a Camaro.
  21. Something I've always wondered- has anybody tried the grille from the AMT '78/9 Bronco on this kit?
  22. Hey- Lester Bangs said it best. "If you ever thought that feedback was the best thing that ever happened to the guitar, well, Lou just got rid of the guitars."
  23. Hate hearing stuff like this. And for the record, I guess I should point out I'm one of the five people in the world who liked Metal Machine Music.
  24. Coming along nicely!
