  1. Taillights, grille... and pretty much all the sheetmetal! Might end up not using much from the Monte but the chassis.
  2. Resin front clip FOR.....????
  3. I'm thinking more along the lines of "Brown Trout". Not sure if I will retain the color, though.
  4. Sigh. A pity they're Shopped...
  5. Yeah, the cowl and fenders are the 'might be tough depending on skill' part of the deal. For me though, lack of a decent '83 kit might still make reworking the MAD body a viable option, and it sounds like just a bit more fun to do it that way.
  6. And... with a few tweaks here and there (how easy or hard these tweaks will be rests entirely on your basic scratchbuilding skills), the MAD body could be updated to an '83 - '86 model year. I think the first one I build will be of the white '84 Notch with a swapped-in late '70's 302 engine that I should have bought back in high school.
  7. Yes, it does. Trouble is, to do a proper '54 you'd need a body, hood, grille, and bumpers, and you'd pretty much need to redo everything in the interior except the floor pan.
  8. I might actually try to attend this year, but its still a big, big IF.
  9. Yep, like a rock. As Kevin put it, laying in a field motionless....
  10. I know a lot of people love that chrome-plated guppie of a car the '57 Chevy, and I say more power to them. Let me say this- I'd never buy either one, but I'd love to see Revell bring out a new-tool Nomad and drop top version of the kit, because I know there are likely thousands of potential buyers for those kits. But I'd REALLY rather see a '72 Cutlass with the formal hardtop roof kitted first.
  11. Hiccups or prone to sneeze attacks- I seem to remember 'splatter' graphics being pretty big at that time, too.
  12. Okay- I think I've settled on something... Modelhaus '50 Nash Ambassador. So far it's been stripped of paint, and the hood has been cut open. I got this as a trade, but there was a stipulation from the kit's then-owner... I HAD to tub it! Far be it from me to disappoint!
  13. The fewer examples others buy, the more I'll buy myself.
  14. I've been wondering when somebody was going to build an HD GM truck model. Liking what I see so far. Bangor Maine- isn't that where Stephen King lives?
  15. All I accomplished Saturday was taking the one MPC Dodge 8-bolt wheel I had and installing the hub in a '41 Lincoln wheel for a rat rod truck project I'll likely never finish. Haven't been at my bench in days- I did this on the coffee table watching Ghost Adventures that night!
  16. First off, we have these- They are US Royal "Master" narrow whites with very nice sidewall detail but no tread to speak of. I know Replicas and Miniatures reproduces these in resin, but what kit were these from originally? And these- Both of them are Firestone Deluxe Champion slicks, the one on the left is marked as 9.00-15, and the one on the right is marked as 7.60-15 and has slightly sharper lettering detail than the wider slick. I'd appreciate any help!
  17. Very interesting project, Mark. Like how it is turning out.
  18. What Mr. Brownlee said. A soft pencil eraser will do the same, too, but you can't beat a cotton swab (Q-Tip) for bringing out the shine.
  19. David- I am working on a project that's kind of the opposite of what you have going on - a rear mounted engine with a front mounted radiator. What I did was run lengths of 3/32" solid-core solder as 'pipes', then connected that at the ends with electrical tape to serve as hose (to compensate for body/frame/engine movement) and short pieces of aluminum tubing used to 'clamp' the pieces together. I've used a similar approach on a few rat rods with the rad mounted behind the cab.
  20. Now all we need is a "Jon Cole reflection" decal for the exhaust shroud and we'll be all set!
  21. About three or four years ago, Tim Boyd converted the '05-'09 style to a ragtop in the other mag, other than scratchbuilding the convertible specific inner quarter panels and scratchbuilding a top boot (neither of which were too offputting as far as effort goes) it was pretty straightforward- lop off the stock across the top of the windshield and cut the roof just above the beltline.
  22. If anybody's got one of those Ertl Massey Ferguson 1155 kits laying around, here are a few reference pics. Might be able to squeeze a few more in if I can find a battery that'll hold a charge before the snow flies!
  23. Very different, and very cool indeed.
  24. Or as I like to call it, the "I love replacing my wheel bearings every other month" fad.
