  1. Some casters do keep a stock of their more common parts, but even then, it is sometimes a crapshoot- maybe that part that's been selling like hotcakes for the last six months will be collecting dust all of a sudden, and some other part that wasn't as popular will see more demand. Some of these casters sell their products to second parties such as STAR Models or hobby shops- if you're worried about a long wait it is never a bad idea to check out such a source and see if they have that casters part in stock.
  2. Nice. It does have the promo look down cold. I usually never build replica stock but this is my favorite Ford truck body style, and one of these days I want to build one in 'fresh off the dealer's lot' form.
  3. I think they pitched the Merc kit the same way- it came with two bumper setups, two wheel/tire combinatons, at least three grilles, and two hoods, among other choices. You could build it as one version or the other, both were custom. And of course mixing and matching was possible. I do see what they're getting at, but it's really one version with a few building options- its a custom no matter what.
  4. One of Jim's Terraplane noses put to VERY good use.
  5. I don't know what planet everybody else is on, but ALL the Nashes I've ever seen up close and in person are Pro Street! Yeah, mostly Ramblers, but still.
  6. An old man lived alone in out in the country . He wanted to plant his annual tomato garden, but it was very difficult work, as the ground was hard. His only son, Vincent, who used to help him, was in prison. The old man wrote a letter to his son and described his predicament: Dear Vincent, I am feeling pretty sad because it looks like I won't be able to plant my tomato garden this year. I'm just getting too old to be digging up a garden plot. I know if you were here my troubles would be over. I know you would be happy to dig the plot for me, like in the old days. Love, Papa A few days later he received a letter from his son. Dear Papa, Don't dig up that garden. That's where the bodies are buried. Love, Vinnie At 4 a.m. the next morning, FBI agents and local police arrived and dug up the entire area without finding any bodies. They apologized to the old man and left. That same day the old man received another letter from his son. Dear Papa, Go ahead and plant the tomatoes now. That's the best I could do under the circumstances. Love you, Vinnie
  7. The ancestor of the AMC Eagle has landed.... I have not one, but two of 'em!
  8. Maybe- it would be a TON of cut and paste. The Citation would be better as conversion material for an Omega- but I'm not going there until I finish my 'Cavalier to Firenza' conversion.... IF I ever finish that one. As far as converting the Monte to a Cutlass, it seems straightforward enough- reshape the rear quarter windows and wheel arches, then use putty to build up the fenders to add the Olds character lines.
  9. If you are running it in a Mustang, you might like to consider swapping out that gigantic pickup AOD tranny for a passenger car automatic, or a 5-speed stick from a Fox or SN-95 Mustang kit. Or, many of the parts off this engine will fit the Mod motors from existing Mustang kits.
  10. 90% of the Nashes I've seen were tubbed- I think a car that so closely resembles a bathtub should look natural tubbed!
  11. Especially like the race car... you don't often see a '66 Merc done up in race trim.
  12. Cool! And sorry- the transformation on this one has already begun!
  13. The two-part Bondo stuff is about all I use, it has never once let me down.
  14. I do have to say I wouldn't mind doing what he was doing wrong on that second windsheild- it has a pretty realistic 'delaminated' glass look to it!
  15. You MIGHT be thinking of these- These are two-piece hollow plastic though- the others in the first post are solid vinyl. Thanks for the responses guys!
  16. Just stab those things in there already! Latest updates on the Nash It's a curbside kit (duh) so I cut open the hood and cobbled up an engine room structure with Plastruct and a '50 Ford radiator/core support- Rubber is via an AMT '70 Super Bee kit, and the chassis is a modified AMT '49 Merc.
  17. Don't worry- I'm thinking of cobbling up a 'hatchback' Cutlass too. Main reason I want to use the MPC kit as a basis is because its 1:25 instead of 1:24- that would make it more consistent with other models of its type.
  18. Just to be clear, Nick, Steve doesn't cast his own parts- he sells stuff by Flintstone, R&R, Hendrix and Aardvark. In additon he sells Model Car Garage and Parts by Parks items, along with his own line of Star Scoops and a pretty good selection of plastic kits.
  19. To broaden the search, check the years 1941 through 1946- all GM trucks were virtually identical for that body style.
  20. Roof skin to be specific- the quarter glass and surrounding metal is different as well- I guess I haven't paid much attention to the back window, no idea if that is the same or similar.
  21. Easily the coolest interpretation of the Turbine kit I've ever seen. Splendid work on this one. It would have been very cool with shiny paint, but the fact you chose to weather it bumps it into a whole new level of cool!
