  1. Should have called me ten years ago, Jeff! I had a '75 just like the one in Joe Dirt
  2. What he said!
  3. The wiring, the tag on the upper passenger's side corner of the firewall, the subtle, realistic weathering... oh, this one is GOOD! The fact I love Fairlanes makes it even better.
  4. All it went through, and on top of that I think he got the year wrong, it had the earlier 'blade' bumpers. Didn't notice until it was up on the 4x4 chassis.
  5. Love that '70 Charger, and the new-style Charger roadster looks cooler than the 1:1.
  6. Haven't checked it out yet, I'm still kind of lukewarm on Adam Corrola. On the other hand, I'm worried about the fate of that Yellow '75 Maverick on tonight's US Top Gear...
  7. That particular version isn't 1:64, its from the bigger, 1:50-ish Hot Wheels series. They do have this in 1:64, I've just never stumbled across one.
  8. When this thing is done, I just might have to hang up my hat. It's already surpassed anything I've ever built, and its still in its embryonic stages.
  9. I actually dug out some of my Hot Wheels, and I think I've got a few pretty cool candidates in my own stash... Fast Cash Hyper Mite The creatively named Custom Volkswagen Beetle Deora II Bedtime Cool One Bone Shaker Of the group, Fast Cash and Cool One are the two I'd really love to do in 1:25, though that Bone Shaker wouldn't be too tough to pull off with an AMT '25 T coupe body. Hmmmm....
  10. Same here- I have no idea where it's going! Total 'seat of the pants engineering' going on here, my standard MO! This was what the cab started out as, it's the same kit as the current Aoshima issue, only molded in yellow instead of red-
  11. Very cool! I'm still thinking of jumping in on that one, but I think the bar has been set a bit too high!
  12. I used the chassis and interior from the '71 kit in that body, and it works pretty well, though it probably would not be correct if you were doing anything but a custom.
  13. One word... WOW!!!!
  14. Ran some valve stems that were a bit too long in my '75 El Camino once. Went through a McDonald's drive thru, scrubbed the curb... pop! Instant flat. That's what happens when a 17 year old puts on his own tires in auto shop!
  15. I hope they bring back the two-door version, while they're at it.
  16. I've read those gripes in the automotive magazines, but I know quite a few Ion owners, and they've never had anything bad to say about the layout. I've spent some time behind the wheel of Model A Fords, and they have the gauges at the center of the dash, too. So did a lot of cars up until the mid '30's. At one time, it was common, and it really isn't bad once you get used to it. Being that the Saturn's gauges are up higher and more legible, I really don't see the issue. It's a unique feature, if nothing else.
  17. I blame my momentary lapses on the fact I was born in the '80's, but my mother still somehow managed to raise me in the '60's. Guess that explains my long hair, my love for folk music, and my thing with air-cooled Volkswagens!
  18. That center-mounted gauge cluster was what tipped me off!
  19. Very nice. Subtle, but mean looking.
  20. Bill must have a Saturn Ion...
  21. I'm not into rebuilding the Hot Wheels/Matchbox cars (yet), but I love seeing them given the modeler's touch. That and I like to see non-Trans Am Pontiac F-Bodies (no 'screaming chicken', no problem for me), so it's a winner in my book.
  22. I've got this half-Corvair, Small Block powered, Beetle truck cab thing going...
  23. Perhaps it was sucked back into the same mysterious time-rift where he found it...
  24. Doesn't look like there's much left of that Revell chopper! I'd ride that thing on the street.
  25. Seems I no longer have the model I 'flocked' with baking soda, and no pics of the interior. Maybe I'll give it another go and snap a photo or two this time. Like it's been said, apply it, a thin coat of primer (just enough to seal it in place), and a light mist of your color coat, and it looks very convincing.
