I love the grill......very nice detail touch.

Before we hit the panic button over the kit contents, maybe we should wait to see the kit? Test shots are just that, test shots. Errors have been discussed that hopefully will be addressed. As for the chassis illustration errors, are they errors in the illustration or errors in the chassis that the illustrator accurately reproduced? I'm not going to declare this kit unbuyable. Mercy if the decals are right and other parts are right so it gets kitbashed with another Nascar kit. Last show I went to those were $7 your choice and no one was buying.

That fuel shut off lever is absolutely killer! -
Loved watching this one......great build.

New reissue announcement from Round 2
iBorg replied to Oldcarfan27's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
If anyone ends up with extra Dyno Don decals, please send it to me. As for Cougars, the 1969 MPC Cougar seems to a nicer kit than the AMT's. -
I can look at that and even identify what kind of car it is......that's old school.

With payment via PayPal (I know some distrust it), Ebay may be one of the safest ways to buy something. They put a lot of pressure on the seller to make things right.

Its an impressive technology. It appears to be an RC car that is scaled to the track. The track seems to take up a full room. Sadly I fear this is an innovation that's two decades too late. Would you rather control a toy car or a real one? There are games on both major game systems that put you in the driver's seat of a host of tremendous cars. They offer a degree of customization this system lacks. Is it nifty......yes. I tried to create something similar last century. I fear for the inventors behind this, it will be a rather limited market.

Hobbico - BANKRUPT!
iBorg replied to niteowl7710's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Here's my concern..... Moebius - $63,150.73-is that enough of a hit to be fatal? Tamiya USA - $662,854.68-will they abandon US distribution? Testors - $302,115.91-a huge hit for a company I think is already weak Paache - $25,929.19 MRC (Model Rectifier) - $11,454.09-what do they sell now? Iwata - $13,002.09 Hasegawa - $38,726.24-Will they ignore US market? Bandai Gundam - $39,717.65-see above Badger - $13,311.91 -
Its a great model from a time frame when I cared about racing so much more. In that time frame there were so many next sure thing drivers in Busch who never made a significant splash in Cup. The converse side there were a few drivers who didn't make much of a splash in Busch but moved mountains in Cup such as Jimmy Johnson. Unfortunately it seems there were a lot more who didn't transition well than did. I could name a handful with little thought; Chad Little, Casey Atwood, Johnny Benson, Elton Sawyer, Joe Nemechek, Jeff Green. I'm sure there's about five others that could be added to the list. Each of those could have, should have been multiple Cup winners.

I agree, problem is we can't agree on which car to kit. Personally, I'd go ga-ga over a Boat Tail Riviera. Do I expect to see it in my lifetime? Not a chance.

Many of the "new" kits are reissues of older kits. During the late 70's and early 80's, these cars were not kitted. This was the first era of video games and a seismic shift in activities of what was the traditional model buying public. If you did not want a Mustang, Corvette, Firebird or Camaro, few new kits were offered, maybe a pick up or a van. Because of that the "land yachts" you desire would have to be new molds. The sales of many of these cars more than likely wouldn't justify the mold costs.

Dyno Don Funny car coming next year 2018
iBorg replied to Mr mopar's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I hope whoever buys it will post the decals. I've got several of the MK reissues as well as the Slixx decals. If I buy it, its for the decals. -
Curious question. What was the original retail price of the 1:1 Ferrari 250 GT?

The origination of Gremlin is from AMT. AMT released several kits with multi-piece bodies in their modified series. These included the Gremlin, a 65 Mustang, 36 Plymouth, 37 Chevy, 35 Chevy, 40 Ford. The Pinto and a Vega were released by MPC. The AMT kits had a great Tobias chassis with a bit of a funky interior. The MPC kits used a modified '57 Chevy chassis. Both were fairly accurate for their time frame. MPC also released a stock kit of a Pinto at the same time their modified kit was on the market, so I'm certain the stock version still exists. As far as I know, MPC never did a stock '34 Ford.

It may be a quicky but I'd also call it a winner. Quite beautiful.

Do a search. There have been many threads about Reliable Resin. I wish they were all positive but that would be an exception rather than a rule.

Drag Question about funny car tin work ?
iBorg replied to Mr mopar's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
The Revell Wild Willie car was a Charger. AMT had a Satellite, the MoPower car. Terrible tin work. I'd use the tin from your donor kit and modify it as needed. -
Have to agree. The first photo is impressive. And then the second, followed by the third...... Great builds!

I had an Escort and lusted after an EXP (some early signs of dementia), While the base chassis were the same, that seems where 90%of the similarities ended. To quote Wikipedia, "Sharing the dashboard, wheelbase, suspension, and powertrain with the Ford Escort, the EXP was longer, lower, and more aerodynamic than its five-seat counterpart."
-
I agree they never ran these in NHRA (if so it was darn rare) but maybe in Europe. When Glidden ran a Probe, around the time this body was made, it had an extended wheelbase. You just can't stuff a V8 in hat short of an engine bay.

Belly Tank kit in styrene
iBorg replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I fear the linked resin kit might not be available. When I bought mine, I was told the caster had passed and I bought the last two available. -
This is one of those few reissues I missed and wish I'd gotten one. Nice build of a kit that I've feared would be quite difficult to get right. If I remember correctly it is listed as 1/20. Is that accurate?
